Would Nathan Fillion Be Interested In Starring In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY?
Nathan Fillion shares his thoughts on whether or not he has time to star in Marvel Studios' big screen adaptation of Guardians of the Galaxy and goes on to reveal what James Gunn has told him about his excitement to helm the film.
Ever since Joss Whedon was announced as the director of The Avengers, fans have put Nathan Fillion forward for several different roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in order to re-team the duo after they worked on the likes of Firefly, Serenity and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. When it was recently announced that James Gunn would helm Guardians of the Galaxy, it seemed as if the stars had finally aligned, especially as Fillion starred in Super and Whedon - who will helm 2015's The Avengers follow-up - recently took on the role of overseeing the "Phase Two" wave of films. Talking to MTV at the Toronto Film Festival, the actor revealed that he may just be too busy to consider a role in the film which is currently set to be released on August 1st, 2014.
"I'm very busy right now with a job that I'm grateful for," Fillion told the site when asked about possibly starring in Guardians of the Galaxy. "I've made a commitment [to 'Castle'] and I have to see it through. And I'm really happy to." While we're still waiting on an official announcement, the actor went on to reveal a conversation he had with director James Gunn about him getting the job. "We had dinner the other night and he told me all about it, before everyone found out. I was on the inside on that one. Over some toro, tuna belly, we discussed how excited he is, how nervous he is, but how he wanted it very badly. He wanted it very badly. I think it's in very capable hands. It's in the right hands. Having worked with the man, I know what he's capable of."
