Scott Porter Wants To Play 'Nova' In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Scott Porter is no stranger to the Marvel Universe after voicing 'Cyclops' in the X-Men anime series and has now put his name forward for a role in a future Marvel Studios movie, expressing interest in bringing either 'Iron Fist' or 'Nova' to the big screen!

"Marvel just announced that they're doing 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' which is another property that I love. I read it growing up," Scott Porter told MTV Splash Page in a recent interview. This isn't the first time that the actor (best known for staring in Friday Night Lights) has expressed interest in bringing one of Marvel's characters to the big screen and he went on to reveal that he has now set his sights on someone other than 'Iron Fist'. "I'd love to play Nova or another [cosmic character]."

"Gunn is a unique choice. I think he could be a really great shephard for that property," added Porter. "I think 'Guardians' is going to be a lot of fun. I think it'll be very cool. I thought the next thing I might try and go after is 'Heroes for Hire,' but it looks like 'Guardians' is around, so..."

The actor finished the interview by making it clear that he most definitely has his sights set on a superhero role at some point in the near future. "I think any kid who gets into the acting business, they have a couple of things that they always wanted to do. For me, it was like, play a war hero; play an athlete, which I've gotten to do; die a horrible death in a horror movie, which I've gotten to do; and then be a superhero. I've marked two things off the list, and I'm working on the others."

OdinsBeard - 9/19/2012, 1:10 PM
ATTENTION ALL ACTORS: this never works.
deanwilkins - 9/19/2012, 1:12 PM
Hope he gets a good role.
BRandom - 9/19/2012, 1:15 PM
My vote is Chris Pine
FennecPilot - 9/19/2012, 1:15 PM
enough with the false comic love coming from the up and comers in Hollywood. These sycophants know it is all about the paycheck and not trying to bring the best to the CBM.

Marvel has been great with their hiring. They took a huge chance on RDJ and he delivered in spades. Chris Evans was equally risky but truly gave Cap gravitas. Marvel needs to look beyond these self promoters to find actors who can really give a great character and not just be the actor in a little costume.

*** a bit off topic but....I watched "The Town" again the other night and I could see how John Hamm would be a fantastic Dr. Strange. I can see him giving a slightly "above the fray" sense of arrogance without being a snob. He also has the chiseled looks for the part, and he is not an A-lister yet - perfect for Dr. Strange.
superotherside - 9/19/2012, 1:21 PM
Actually he does look the part of Richard Rider. Haven't seen him in anything but as long as he acted good I wouldn't mind him as Nova. :)
superotherside - 9/19/2012, 1:22 PM
BRandom IMO Chris would be better suited as Star Lord. I think he could do something really great with that character.
jimpinto24 - 9/19/2012, 1:23 PM
Scott Porter would be an alright choice to play Nova.
ksommer - 9/19/2012, 1:26 PM
He was pretty good in Friday Night Lights. Hated the character but he did a fairly good job in it.
IIIAdamantiumIII - 9/19/2012, 1:26 PM
nope!
mctrinket - 9/19/2012, 1:28 PM
Don't you need some martial arts chops to be in the mix for Iron Fist?
CaptainObvious - 9/19/2012, 1:29 PM
Chris Pine is too obvious.
Theunderdog - 9/19/2012, 1:32 PM
I think he would be freaking amazing as Nova he can play the ass jerk character well and GOD NO Chris pine too much obvious and unoriginal

PaulRom - 9/19/2012, 1:34 PM
I can see Porter as Nova. He'd be great as Flash too though.
Theunderdog - 9/19/2012, 1:35 PM
Check out my Fancast for The gaurdians of the galaxy click on the picture

Corey Sevier is my pic for character

third3ye - 9/19/2012, 1:45 PM
Meh, another actor wanting to be in a Marvel production, get in the back of the line.
sciencefriction - 9/19/2012, 1:45 PM
No to Scott Porter, but yes to Chris Pine being in a Marvel movie.
TheAbomination - 9/19/2012, 1:52 PM
Personally, I think Nova should get his own separate movie. Maybe introduce him in Guardians or something and then let him have his own flick. But, yeah, I'm fine with Scott Porter.
DoctorDoomSayer - 9/19/2012, 1:53 PM
Nova is no match for Doom! Doom deserves his own solo film of World Domination before this peon.
AlexDeLarge87 - 9/19/2012, 1:55 PM
Could see him as Flash.
avengers72 - 9/19/2012, 1:56 PM
nova has to be in gotg and kang
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 9/19/2012, 1:57 PM
@wolverinesfury If you're a Nova fan, you should've already seen the clues that he'll be in GOTG.

Look at it, closely...

AlexDeLarge87 - 9/19/2012, 1:58 PM
Iron Fist movie is a must thou.

Charlie Hunnam would be great Danny Rand.
JerBear - 9/19/2012, 1:58 PM
Scott Porter was my original choice for Captain America before Chris Evans. I really want him to play a superhero. He deserves it.
BRandom - 9/19/2012, 2:00 PM
@Superotherside. He would actally make a really good Star Lord, But I've wanted Nathan Fillion in that roll ever since they announced the film... But I know not everyone has a man crush on him like I do, ha
jimoakley666 - 9/19/2012, 2:07 PM
Who? Never heard of him.
BRandom - 9/19/2012, 2:08 PM
TheGambitFreak@ I see what you're talking ab! I've never noticed that,sweet!
mawilli4 - 9/19/2012, 2:08 PM
Nova might not even be in it. he's not a "guardian" of the galaxy. he simply helps em out every now and then.
kemuael - 9/19/2012, 2:12 PM
I give him a chance :-D
ChiefWest - 9/19/2012, 2:18 PM
@TheGambitFreak, What the... how could i not have noticed that! That's frekkin awesome
JonasWepeel - 9/19/2012, 2:18 PM
@TheGambitFreak

I never noticed that before. Just got chills.
JustCallMeRazzy - 9/19/2012, 2:40 PM
as great as chris pine is for the role, i dont know if hed be able to do both star trek AND guardians, assuming that star trek 3 would be made/made soon...
Optimus83 - 9/19/2012, 2:43 PM
¡¡¡Good Nova Casting!!!
Rhys - 9/19/2012, 2:46 PM
I love Nova, but I don't want him in GotG. I think it should stay focused on Thanos and the core team.

It's funny though, I was literally reading Nova 2 minutes ago.
RAWRG - 9/19/2012, 2:53 PM
I'm okay with him but i prefer chris pine
tazmaniak - 9/19/2012, 2:57 PM
If they stick to the comics, and they generally tend to, he's much too old to play Nova. That character should be a much younger man. A teenager. The character is barely 24 in the comics.
AmazingFantasy - 9/19/2012, 3:01 PM
Freaking NOVA is one of the best charecters of all time.
jbozz17 - 9/19/2012, 3:15 PM
@TheGambitFreak

I don't see it, maybe I'm just blind
TheJoker - 9/19/2012, 3:19 PM
How about you learn how to act first!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
