POLL: Would You Like To See Time Travel In X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST?

With a title like Days of Future Past, it seems fair to assume that Matthew Vaughn's highly anticipated sequel will alternate between the current First Class timeline and a much bleaker future. However, is this something that you would like to see happen? Here's your chance to decide!

Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class sequel shares its name with the same beloved comic book arc that featured the X-Men of the present day failing to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. As you more than likely know, these events led to an alternate future timeline where Sentinels rule the United States and mutants live in internment camps. It's fair to assume that the X-Men: Days of Future Past will borrow elements from this storyline, but would you actually like to see the film take place in two timelines? (possibly bringing back the cast of the previous X-Men trilogy) It's hard to imagine that working too well, especially as it would be such a shame for the focus to be taken off James McAvoy's 'Charles Xavier' and Michael Fassbender's 'Magneto'. Also, do we REALLY want to revisit the past X-Men films after the state that Brett Ratner's The Last Stand left it the franchise in? Well, here's your chance to decide...

I'd prefer if they keep going with the current cast from XMFC and keep adding on people like Cyclops, Storm, Jean Grey, Gambit into it (all new actors of course). Then it'll become a bit like X-Men Evolution. We can keep going from there and eventually reach the main cast w/Rogue, Wolverine etc (again, all new actors).

I [frick]ing hate the Bryan Singer and Ratner versions. I'd like for them to pretty much reboot with the XMFC cast, with Matthew Vaughn helming it.

Yeah, I also think Hugh Jackman's Wolverine can suck it. I don't care about the cameo. Recast.

Days of Future Past revolves around time travel, so yeah, it's pretty necessary. But I hope they don't go overboard and have every possible X-Men - X3 cast member they can get their hands on to time travel back to the 60s. I'd like to see Charles travel back in time, but none of the other characters in the old trilogy were really that interesting (except Wolverine, but he's way overused, and Magneto, but having both Prof X and Magneto travel through time would seem forced). They'd also need to introduce Bishop for the time travel aspects.

They should have Sentinels, Bishop, Forge, Shatterstar and Cable. This would be so awesome but they probably can't pull it off. They are not Joss Whedon. LOL

I like the idea. (If done right) But at the same time, I want the focus to be on the younger X-Men characters instead.

I mean on the one hand I'd like for X-Men First Class to become a reboot of the series, but the cameos of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Rebecca Romijn's Mystique, and the shot for shot remake of the WWII opening pretty much cements it as part of the same series.

And it'd be a shame to lost Patrick Stewart's Professor X from the series, and Hugh as Wolverine... I don't know... I just hope they can fix the series.

Separate universes for XMFC and the X MEN movies from Singer and Ratner.
Time traveling? if the title of the movie is "Days of future past"... yes.
Recast for the roles of the future versions of the mutis.

Maybe the film will revolve around time travel in order to save Professor X from being killed in X3? Perhaps it's in order to completely prevent the Phoenix from being unleashed? Now that'd be cool, for them to actively make the film about undoing one of the worst films in the series. If they could undo X-Men Origins while they're at it, that'd be great.

Time travel is a very tricky subject. But yes, I'd like to see them give it a shot. Just do it right and I'll be there on opening day...and maybe a few more.

Yes! That way they can fix this retarded continuity (or lack thereof) they've created! I actually think a relinquishment of rights back to Marvel would be best, but that'll never happen. They need to just reboot everything, and start it right! First Class SHOULD have been that reboot, but they decided to go back, and further muddy up the waters with another subpar attempt at an X-Men movie.

I think it is a bold idea! Not sure I would bring back all of them but definately Professor X, Cyclops, Jean, and Kitty (because she figures so heavily in the comic story).

The first class guys need to incorporate Jean and Cyclops etc of course as well..

Ive had mix feelings about this since day one.

I wanted a first class sequel set in mid 60's only with the first class cast, to develop all the characters.

And Id LOVE to see the original actors again, and Days of future past, but I find it a bit soon, since the firs class actors deserve another sequel to shine by theirown.

But this has the potential to be one of the best movies in the genre, so I cant help but being excited at the same time.

Just make it like the COMIC! I want Sentinels, a brutalized earth, the photos of the deceased or apprehended Xmen in the movie somewhere and I want the graveyard. I want Bishop, Wolverine to die and I want Cyclops done right.

I vote for an amazing Xmen movie over fixing the continuity any day.

Easy fix: Introduce Cable/Bishop, only one of them. Then, we have two X-men teams:

Future X-Men (sentinel ruled earth)
-Wolverine
-Storm
-Colossus
-Old Magneto
-Shadwocat

And...

First Class
-Young Xavier
-Young Beast
-Havok
-Banshee
-Bishop (come to help them alter the past)

Perfect amount of x-men, little continuity issues as obviously this plot would explain all the bullshit First Class caused in the timeline (much like the latest Star Trek film) and we get an awesome alternate future story with all the best X-men. Oh and WE FINALLY GET TO SEE SENTINELS!!!! :D

but ofcourse I don't work for Fox and they will find a way to [frick] all this up anyway. so theres that.

My main worry with this adaptation is Wolverine getting too much screentime again.

But if Vaughn is smart, the movie will have a perfect balance.

The First class cast was a pretty solid one, so we dont need Wolverine as the star again.

so yes, I preffer most of the movie to be set in the 60's with a few flashforwards from the future.

@ gambgel: Yeah, but you do realize (if you've read DoFP) how important Wolverine is to the story. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dying to see so much more of Jackman's Wolverine on screen in this, but, for them to do anything related to the DoFP story, he needs to be there. Otherwise, they should just have the decency to call it something else.

AAAHHH! If this happens I won't be thrilled, to say the least. I was really looking forward to a fresh start for the X-Men franchise.

ok, people this poll is all wrong.

i want the days story to have the 'time travel' (read the comic, its a future astral projection thingy, technical i know...) so this is no longer a prequel. first class does not match up well at all to the original films, and by changing stuff this series can spin into its own thing. no previous cast members. the cameo sh!t in first class was garbage. make this its own series with NO tie in to the previous movies.

it was bad enough the filmakers had no idea how to dress people in early 60's clothes, i mean they set it in the cuban missle crisis and couldn't even keep the film period specific. Doing this will help branch it into its own reality and help those of us who like the film but understand how terribly flawed it was to accept it on its own merrits a bit better.

And lets get a recut version of first class without cameos and digitally remove january jones with ANYONE and all will be right in the world

and no she is not hot. at all, never could understand why people like her.

I say use time travel...that way they can have an excuse to go on make new X-Men films without any ties to the previous series and keep up with a new continuity...Oh and hopefully films that are more closer to the comics story wise and look and actually give us comic book suits for the characters.

FOX cant say it cant be done...Look at The Avengers, they need to take a chance with X-men in costumes :]

Including time travel in the First Class franchise is the only way FOX can fix up their [frick]ed up continuity.

Seriously, killing off Cyclops and Jean Grey!? WTF!

@TheBaroness89 I would go back and time and convince FOX not to greenlight X-Men:TLS and XMO: Wolverine. And then, tell them to give the rights back to Marvel Studios.

Time machines are really hard to find though. :P
