Released last Friday, Looper shot straight to the #2 spot at the box office and even managed to hit #1 in several other international territories. Earning a 'B' CinemaScore from audiences, it clearly hit the right note with many fans of the sci-fi genre, although the reaction from you guys in the three main reviews posted here on CBM were clearly a little more mixed than the 94% Rotten Tomatoes score it currently holds. Well, here's your chance to decide! Don't forget to read my 4* review of Looper by clicking HERE.

In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a "looper" – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to "close the loop," sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.

STARRING:

Bruce Willis as Joseph Simmons
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Joseph Simmons
Emily Blunt as Sara
Paul Dano as Seth
Noah Segan as Kid Blue
Jeff Daniels as Jack Mitchell
Piper Perabo as Suzie
Garret Dillahunt as Jesse

It was about what I expected of it until it got all hyped up. Certain parts were great. The end was a bit of a letdown.

It was really good but it was no masterpiece.

I thought Looper was really good! It had action, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. One of the best sci-fi movies in awhile. I'll give Looper an 8.5/10

I agree it was good but not a masterpiece.

I clicked on the top option because I did think it was incredible, but I also don't think it redefined the genre.

Haven't seen it, actually didn't even plan to until I started hearing the good word of mouth about it. I will try to see it soon.

There are other movies than just CBMs people -.-

I loved this, one of the best movies of the year

The whole premise doesn't make any sense. just kill these people before you ship them back in time and pay the loopers to be a clean up crew.

I really liked it! If there was an option in this poll between the first and second one I'd vote that one. Its as good a sci-fi as I've seen in while, maybe since Children of Men, but I don't know if it 'redefined the genre.'

BruceWayneNewton, if you kill someone in the future you will leave at least some evidence that a murder took place, its cleaner to send them back in time. Plus, they conveniently stated in the movie that it is very difficult to commit murder in the future without someone knowing because of the tracking systems, which is why they send them back in the first place.

@ry, They say it is very hard to get rid of the body in the future. The killing part is just as easy.

Tea, lol, he does tend to whisper a lot. He isn't in the movie too much though, this is definitely a JGL film. His scenes are quite good though, the action follows his character around.

I thought the two things were both difficult to do in the future, would you be happy if they changed their wording slightly?

@BruceWayneNewton

I don't want to talk about time travel because if we start talking about it then we're going to be here all day talking about it, making diagrams with straws.

Good action but the loose flying with the time travel rules took me out of the film. I wish the end was more climactic. Looking forward to 11/22/63 when they make a movie of it....great time travel story with no holes.

I thought all 3 JGL movies this year were really good to excellent. Film star of the year!

Great film. One of the best of 2012. But I don't think it "redefined" anything. A fantastic ending could have sealed the deal on that regard but the ending they went with was too cliche and lame.

That said, I did like it's approach of not trying too hard to explain all the time-travel mumbo jumbo and just roll with it. That was a breath of fresh air.

@Ryguy88

Sure about that? Looper was great. But TDKR was utter shit, and Premium Rush was kinda lame.

I'd hardly call that a hat-trick.

Although, I will admit that Levitt was a standout in all three. He's kinda like Tom Hanks in that respect. Regardless of whether the film's good or shit, you can expect him to give a great performance.

lokibane2012, was TDKR utter shit, or is that just your opinion? 87% RT, 78 Metacritic and an almost $1.1 Billion world wide box office gross says otherwise...and that is not just my opinion;) Premium Rush was pretty good for what it was and I'd say it was a success as well. A hatrick indeed for JGL.
