The folks over at ComicBook.com have somehow managed to get their hands on a copy of The Amazing Spider-Man's Director's Commentary and have revealed some of the secrets spilled by Marc Webb on the track. According to the site, he revealed that "the "origin" of the spiders that inform Spider-Man’s origin will be told in a later film" and while Martin Sheen apparently requested that his death be a dream sequence in order to return for the sequel, Webb would in fact be "open to possibly bringing the character back in flashback." Something which didn't sit well with a lot of fans was how the character's death was handled; the script danced around the "With Great Power..." line and Peter wasn't REALLY changed all that much by his Uncle's demise. Turns out that this is something Marvel were also concerned about. "[It]was the hardest change to get cleared by Marvel, who wanted to make sure that the tone and sensibility of the character’s death was retained from the comic book source material." The Amazing Spider-Man goes on sale on November 9th.

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors/The Lizard

Sally Fields as Aunt May
Denis Leary as George Stacy

Still haven't seen this movie yet, I'll be hiring it next week. Looking forward to it.
IronSpider101 - 10/27/2012, 3:47 AM
Not interested in this flick. TASM bit the big one.
Jollem - 10/27/2012, 3:50 AM
"origin" of the spiders - neato

uncle ben in flashbacks - martin sheen kicked some ass

i really liked how they did uncle ben's death

the lesson of responsibility was very much in the film. i don't think i would have liked them to use raimi's version of the "responsibility" line

i think ben's death surely set peter on a different path

i wants me some villain news
CoulsonLives - 10/27/2012, 3:52 AM
Well that didn't spill much...
Nomis1800 - 10/27/2012, 3:52 AM
Well that's not much news.
tripttwe - 10/27/2012, 3:52 AM
It was okay, but forgettable....

just make it better than the last one.
IronSpider101 - 10/27/2012, 3:58 AM
Hope Marc Webb gets to do his own thing with/after this.

"hiring it.."

Wow! It's really that bad guys?! I know the Parker you want.., it won't play: Garfield is the best we can hope for. It could be a lot worse. Stop with the Twilight(I have those Rifftrax: hilarious)shite! He's got tooo skinny in the face to have his hair down. Attack me for talking about hair, but as someone that tinkers in ink for fun, it would'nt work. The guy really loves the character in real life.., is there truly a better guy for the role? I mean no disrespect for those that hate Garfield, but really? This guy is a contemporary Peter Parker.
EarOne - 10/27/2012, 4:23 AM
ALL Webb must do now for the sequel is to STAGE the action set pieces waaaayyyy better than TASM and more on the par with Raimi's trilogy. u gotta storyboard it, then STORYBOARD it, damn it!!!
dwaynejohnsonsfromundahcheesepanini - 10/27/2012, 4:23 AM
I'm for Mysterio, Kraven or Electro! Would be cool if they embrace the animated concept and have the crazy classic Elector facial design only present during closeups were Electro draws full power.., thus creating the iconic "Electro five point Jeepers Creepers look." If don't like send Daryl Dixon over with a crow kill.

You probably got this, but the MST3K Experiment #920 : The Final Sacrifice. If you haven't seen it, find it & enjoy!

..it's up there with Turkish Star Wars!
dwaynejohnsonsfromundahcheesepanini - 10/27/2012, 4:35 AM
^had a brain fart and was thinking of something other than Madonna. :-P Was funny how that score/rhythm to her single basically cued every 5min in that movie. :P That was a decent '80's film though.
dwaynejohnsonsfromundahcheesepanini - 10/27/2012, 4:38 AM
Sorry.., Webb did his best juggling the bull.., it was really his first dive into the machine. 500 Days of Summer was a major, but it still was a small budget with indie sensibilities. Laugh at me all you want people; that one hits home in many facets!
Jollem - 10/27/2012, 4:39 AM
@dwaynejohnson - sounds as kooky as this is

You all never cease. That's awesome man! Sincerely! LMAO!!!!

Yes I'm posting again about Jollem's post. :-P
Mercwitham0uth - 10/27/2012, 4:49 AM
I liked Amazing Spider-Man. Sure, it wasn't perfect but at least it was better than the awful campy Raimi trilogy.
dwaynejohnsonsfromundahcheesepanini - 10/27/2012, 4:49 AM
That Ratner gif wanking himself.., I thought about that whilst driving earlier. :-D Good stuff!

Man I love CBM.com! It's the little things :-)
dwaynejohnsonsfromundahcheesepanini - 10/27/2012, 4:52 AM
Raimi's versions to me are like Burton's Batman films. They are good, but exist on(not bad)their own. I really want to see Electro or Mysterio.., or Spaghettio(I'm an @sshole) in the sequel. :P
dwaynejohnsonsfromundahcheesepanini - 10/27/2012, 4:54 AM
Seriously: Mysterio, Electro or Kraven. Sorry for the carpet bombing post session! Cheers!
BenderDickCumPatch - 10/27/2012, 4:59 AM
AWESOME.
Bring it on.
Cosmic1 - 10/27/2012, 5:00 AM
Enough with the origin already it's stupid to drag it out over more movies, just give us a better story and some ass kicking action. So far Webb you get a zero in my book for your take on Spidey my entire family 3 generations disliked your film.
marvel72 - 10/27/2012, 5:09 AM
the amazing spider-man had its moments but nothing specisl,spider-man & spider-man 2 are better.

the amazing spider-man is probably slightly better than spider-man 3.

Christuffer - 10/27/2012, 5:13 AM
The Amazing Spiderman Rises!
Hudson3D - 10/27/2012, 5:17 AM
Give it 12 months until everyone has seen TASM once or twice and everyone will relalise that it has nothing on the Raimi films. Right now, it is still new and different but give it some time and the majority will be slating this as boring. Ten years on since the first one was made and still I feel that it is more up to date than this.
Hudson3D - 10/27/2012, 5:18 AM
Long Live Grif!
Kalel219 - 10/27/2012, 5:22 AM
@dwaynejohnsonsfromundahcheesepanini

What a mouth full of a name...anyways, why is "hiring it" a bad thing? And really, just cause Andrew loves the character doesn't mean much since he was let down by a lackluster script

@Hudson3D

SPOT ON
Hudson3D - 10/27/2012, 5:27 AM
@Kalel219 .. Thanks Bro.
Jollem - 10/27/2012, 5:31 AM
@Hudson3D - i am impressed with yer precognitive ability and the way you speak for the people :)
Originator2000 - 10/27/2012, 5:33 AM
Peter Parker should become more mature through all of the events he go through. And Uncle Ben should have a cameo like Ra's Al Ghul in TDKR.
baszs - 10/27/2012, 5:34 AM
The only thing that made the amazing spiderman fail, was the soundtrack.
if someone would put the old soundtrack of the older spiderman movies over the amazing spiderman it would be a better rated film.

CorronZenith30 - 10/27/2012, 5:38 AM
@ Kalel219 - I was baffled bout the remark about me "hiring it" too??
Hudson3D - 10/27/2012, 5:38 AM
@Jollem. What, like I am the first to ever give an opinion on here? C'mon man!
CampBlood - 10/27/2012, 5:41 AM
I liked rami SM but those films got worse as they went on

this new franchise has promise
Jollem - 10/27/2012, 5:45 AM
@Hudson3D - oh, i ain't gettin' on ya. you can tell by the smiley face :)
Hudson3D - 10/27/2012, 5:47 AM
@CampBlood.. I agree, it has promise. I just think they could have made this one a little more.... memorable.
And If I am to be honest, I don't think the Lizzard really worked for me.
jasonicus - 10/27/2012, 5:48 AM
TASM was pretty good, but I still like Raimi's better. How they handled Uncle Ben was pretty retarded.
Hudson3D - 10/27/2012, 5:48 AM
@Jollem... You are quite right, I didn't see the face lol. I take it back. My bad!
dwaynejohnsonsfromundahcheesepanini - 10/27/2012, 5:53 AM
@kalel219

It sounded cynically corporate. If you did not have that intent, I'm sorry for my misguided conceptualization. I'm coming to realize that my sarcasm gets taken the wrong way on this site(which is my favourite on the web)quite a bit. If ever in question, my account is sadly a ball cheese snackwich. :-P

If I told you thinking about Iron Man 3 and the B.T.I.L.C. talk made me put in the blu and kept me from sleeping you'd think me bonkers! :-P

I actually forgot how awesome this movie is and I',m not sleeping today! :-P

@Charlie's special cousin he camped with in the summer

They had their beats; some moments were iconic. Time to move on. Damn that sounded cold. Raimi's Evil Dead looks the kitten tits though! I look forward to seeing that one.., and more kitten tits. Kidding. Sorry, guys. :-P
Super12 - 10/27/2012, 5:54 AM
I hate to say it but this TASM movie did nothing for me. It never set right with me cause the whole time I was watching it I couldn't help but think, "didn't I just see this a couple years ago? Yeah that was a really good movie. This feels like a soulless cash cow." I like this Andrew Garfield guy a little better but, man those Raimi films (minus 3) were way better movies.
dwaynejohnsonsfromundahcheesepanini - 10/27/2012, 6:01 AM
just copy and paste: sorry. No worries Kalel219, it seemed a little steryl and cold, that's all. You are on here, I recognize you, you know the lashing this film can undeservedly take. Yeah he had a hard time swinging thru the convenient NYC construction helpers: meant to show the love for Spidey. The Lizard(they should have left that scene in broseph)and he'd been more effective. I'm sorry, but for the first time ever I praised a Stan Lee cameo! :P That was all kinds of awesome! The Amazing Spiderman was literally a rollercoaster!

The sequel will get it right(perfect I hope); we have the death of Gwen and an MJ that in a few years will make the doubters's sniff the crow in the oven. Thanks for making me feel dirty, I'm in my 30's. :-D
Jollem - 10/27/2012, 6:02 AM
@Hudson3D - no worries. i mean, i've read lots worse. i like hearing peoples varied opinions
