Skyfall is FINALLY released in North America tomorrow, but as one of the most critically acclaimed films of the year, talk of it winning big at next year's Academy Awards has already begun. Movieline had compiled a series of quotes from those involved with the film about just this, starting with screenwriter John Logan. "I think we made a proper movie, which was our goal," he said, before adding "Yes" when asked if he thinks the movie has the potential to win an Oscar. Judi Dench however is far more cautious when it comes to awards talk, especially when asked whether or not she's heard the rumblings of a 'Best Supporting Actress' nod. "Don't talk about that yet, that's a long way off," she said recently. As for Daniel Craig, he revealed that he would "of course" like to see the film acknowledged come awards season, specifying that "I mean certainly Roger Deakins who did the camera work on this; it would be fantastic if he were to be recognized because he's done such a wonderful job." What do you guys think?

I sure hope it will somehow get the recognition. Dame Judi Dench and Javier Bardem deserve to be nominated for Best Supporting Actor/Actress, at least. And I want to see it getting a lot more...

If The Reader and Extremely Boring and Incredibly Annoying can be nominated so why not Skyfall

I don't think Flight, The Impossible, Hitchcock, or Amour will make it but nevertheless it's definitely a tough category.

Why would it get nominated? It's good and right now its out, its new and people love to proclaim new movies better than they actually are but this is just another Bond film.
Craig, Dench, do well but they bring very little to the roles that we havent seen before.
Javier Bardem was good but the part just wasnt enough for any actor to deserve an Oscar.
There's just too much of Old Man Bond performing impossible stunts and escapes for this to be considered Oscar worthy.
MTV awards, Fan choice awards and some of the others maybe.
People think because Heath Ledger was nominated back in 2008 for TDK that the Academy has opened the doors to big budget action flicks and thats not the case and it shouldnt be.

@marvel72 You're on the internet. You could definitely hold it. You're just being a prick.

I can't imagine TDKR being up for any awards... maybe for the actors (particularly Hardy, Bale, Oldman and Hathaway) but even that'd be a stretch considering there'd also be performances from the likes of Daniel Day Lewis and Denzel Washington in the lead actor category that Bale would have to contend with, the likes of Robert DeNiro and Leonardo DiCaprio in the Supporting Actor category against Hardy and Oldman. Hathaway might get a nomination for (and maybe even win) Best Supporting Actress, but it's more likely the Academy would recognise Les Mis over TDKR.
In terms of other awards, I think TDKR is at the bottom of the list of Nolan's work, and even Wally Pfister's cinematography was disappointing. Zimmer could be up for best soundtrack though, I mean he's always right on the money and his TDKR score is the best thing about the film IMO (and it's among his best work).

With regards to the article, I think Bond could get away with a few nominations, although it might not win. Deakins' camera work should at least get a nom, while Bardem could actually be a dark horse for Supporting Actor (I guess Hardy could be too for his portrayal of Bane, but Bardem has the edge on him). I also think Dame Judi might get a supporting actress nom, and should be a contender for an Honorary Award (lifetime achievement). In fact, considering the series has lasted 50 years, the entire James Bond franchise could recieve some recognition for its longevity in the form of an honorary award too.

TDKR was too full of holes and had a mediocre storyline(a huge dropoff from TDK) there is no way it will be an awards contender.

@ckal

even so many other movies popped up in this thread.....but u can only see TDKR....i just cant believe why marvel lovers just drags and stretches wherever TDKR comes up....they are so obsessed with it....

@ckal

If you haven't noticed, TDKR and the Avengers pop up in most every thread, in one way or another, wether it makes sense or not.
jimpinto24 - 11/8/2012, 9:37 AM
Skyfall should be a Oscar contender.

So the point was to... write a comment as complaint of an ongoing trend that you oppose which was denoted by the sarcasm that you made easily understood in the same?

But if indeed you are opposing it, then its hilariously ironic that you would do what you are complaining about whilst making the very complaint. LoL

Don't let it get to you like that, it's a cbm site. And its one of the greater and recent achievements within the category. That was MY point.
