The Cast And Crew Of SKYFALL Weigh In On Its Chances Come Awards Season

Deakins definitely deserves it for cinematography. (Still FAR from a lock though). But if the Academy goes for a blockbuster this year for a BP nomination, it's either going to be The Hobbit or TDKR. Probably not Skyfall, even though it's just as good. (I'm assuming The Hobbit will be as good as TDKR and Skyfall).

If The Reader and Extremely Boring and Incredibly Annoying can be nominated so why not Skyfall

@RR51 I think they are right up there in the "borderline" mix with The Hobbit, TDKR, and now maybe Skyfall (don't sleep on Looper either).

Flight and Hitchcock have dropped a bit due to so-so reviews (Although look at Extremely Loud, anything is possible if your an Oscar-bait film). So i'd think The Hobbit or Rises would probably get in before those two. But The Impossible and Amour are probably more likely than a blockbuster.

And i think Anna Karenina is worth a mention. It got pretty dull reviews, but apparently Keira Knightly has a powerhouse performance. So the Academy might eat that up.

I can't imagine TDKR being up for any awards... maybe for the actors (particularly Hardy, Bale, Oldman and Hathaway) but even that'd be a stretch considering there'd also be performances from the likes of Daniel Day Lewis and Denzel Washington in the lead actor category that Bale would have to contend with, the likes of Robert DeNiro and Leonardo DiCaprio in the Supporting Actor category against Hardy and Oldman. Hathaway might get a nomination for (and maybe even win) Best Supporting Actress, but it's more likely the Academy would recognise Les Mis over TDKR.
In terms of other awards, I think TDKR is at the bottom of the list of Nolan's work, and even Wally Pfister's cinematography was disappointing. Zimmer could be up for best soundtrack though, I mean he's always right on the money and his TDKR score is the best thing about the film IMO (and it's among his best work).

With regards to the article, I think Bond could get away with a few nominations, although it might not win. Deakins' camera work should at least get a nom, while Bardem could actually be a dark horse for Supporting Actor (I guess Hardy could be too for his portrayal of Bane, but Bardem has the edge on him). I also think Dame Judi might get a supporting actress nom, and should be a contender for an Honorary Award (lifetime achievement). In fact, considering the series has lasted 50 years, the entire James Bond franchise could recieve some recognition for its longevity in the form of an honorary award too.

TDKR was too full of holes and had a mediocre storyline(a huge dropoff from TDK) there is no way it will be an awards contender.

Dude... oscars are gonna be so crowded this year. Way too many good films in 2012.
