Talking to Ellen DeGeneres recently, a bearded Andrew Garfield has revealed that The Amazing Spider-Man sequel will begin shooting next February. This puts the Marc Webb helmed follow-up on track for its May 2nd, 2014 release date. Plot details are scarce at the moment, although we do know that Shailene Woodley (The Descendants ) will play Mary Jane Watson and Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained) has signed up to play Electro. It's also thought that Norman and Harry Osborn will feature in the film, with some speculating that Homeland's Damian Lewis will possibly be portraying the former after he reportedly passed on the role now filled by Foxx.

lets hope its "very, very good" because the first one was "very, very bad"
JDUKE25 - 11/13/2012, 2:17 PM
The first was actually "very, very good". I thought it was decent the first time seeing it. But after watching it about 4 more times on Blu-Ray it's gotten better.
simpleman - 11/13/2012, 2:20 PM
First comment is "very, very bad".
JDUKE25 - 11/13/2012, 2:21 PM
He looks like he's put on a few pounds. I hope he's a little bigger in ASM 2 than he was in the first.
marvel72 - 11/13/2012, 2:24 PM
the first movie had its moments but it had its flaws as well.raimi's spider-man is better than webb's the amazing spider-man.
DrDoom - 11/13/2012, 2:24 PM
First comment is very, very good.
koala0226 - 11/13/2012, 2:27 PM
I hope to see more POV in this one since POV wasn't so much in the first one
Vapes - 11/13/2012, 2:27 PM
I don't get how people didn't like the new one.
Once I got over the new costume and lack of Lizard snout, I saw an enjoyable drama telling more grounded version of the Spider-Man origin, complemented by the best Spidey action we've seen yet.
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 11/13/2012, 2:28 PM
"Very, very good" is not Amazing. Just another reason to feel neutral about the film...

Spidey31 - 11/13/2012, 2:28 PM
Who will Damien Lewis play?!
Kingdork - 11/13/2012, 2:28 PM
I second that... First comment is very, very good.
RedeyeJedi - 11/13/2012, 2:29 PM
I liked it, but I could have done without all the retreading.
Spidey31 - 11/13/2012, 2:29 PM
What do you guys think about Damien Lewis playing Norman?
jimpinto24 - 11/13/2012, 2:30 PM
I not excited about TASM2.
RaleighAntrobus - 11/13/2012, 2:35 PM
The first film was not "very, very good". Any self-respecting Spider-Man wouldn't say that.
Crossbones - 11/13/2012, 2:36 PM
I thought The Amazing Spider-Man is the best Spider-Man yet. I second what, Vapes, said on the whole enjoyable drama with a more grounded version of the Spider-Man origin. The Lizard was great, I hope Rhys Ifans comes back as Dr.Connors. It was a great take on the Spider-Man mythos. I really enjoyed the sub-plot being "The Hunt for Spider-Man". I thought that was an awesome thing to do with Captain Stacy. You had actors who invest themselves into the roles so much that you buy them as the characters.

Unfortunately, I want to look forward to the sequel but it's hard when Electro is the villain.
InfiniteMonkey - 11/13/2012, 2:37 PM
Who gives a fat [frick] about this?
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 11/13/2012, 2:38 PM
IN OTHER NEWS: Ellen continues to prove herself as an odd homosexual.
MARVELPSYCHO79 - 11/13/2012, 2:42 PM
Damian Lewis as Norman Osborn is a great idea.Shailene Woodley was good in The Descendants and she will be good as MJ.Shailene is a good actress.I just don't know how to feel about the Jamie Foxx as Electro news.
TrueRedBlue - 11/13/2012, 2:45 PM
TASM may not have been AMAZING, but it was pretty good. I'm a little excited for the sequel. My expectations for this franchise has gone down, but I'm still excited :D
TrueRedBlue - 11/13/2012, 2:46 PM
@TheGambitFreak
IN OTHER NEWS, you're a homophobe who really needs to keep your condescending opinions to yourself.
ATrueHero1987 - 11/13/2012, 2:47 PM
Great! Now let's hope that Arad & Tolmach don't interfere much in this sequel.
amazingspideygal - 11/13/2012, 2:47 PM
TASM was indeed an amazing movie, I loved it.

Can not wait for the sequel, 2014 can't get here soon enough!

Franshu - 11/13/2012, 2:50 PM
Sorry, but when was Foxx confirmed to have signed on for the role? Last thing I'd read was Webb saying he was an interesting option, and nothing more.
M3T4LL0 - 11/13/2012, 2:51 PM
I'm still not feeling jamie foxx as electro. Great actor, bad casting
GammaVerve - 11/13/2012, 2:52 PM
The haters are funny. :]

I rewatched it on dvd today and loved it. Great movie.
very excited for the sequel, btw!
MrReese - 11/13/2012, 2:53 PM
I watched Raimis Spidey the other day 1 & 2 ( Cuz who really gives a [frick] bout 3 XD ) & I liked his version better. I didn't really like Lizard as the villain. I'm not 2 fond of Foxx playin Electro either he doesn't strike me as the evil guy.But hey I've only watched Ray & Collateral with Jamie in it so.... XD
TrueRedBlue - 11/13/2012, 2:53 PM
Here's the thing. TASM really had some problems, for instance, totally ruining Connors/Lizard's character and making him extremely 2-dimensional. But the things that TASM got right, it really freakin' got right.
Bring on the sequel!
luckylu - 11/13/2012, 2:57 PM
first one was shit. lets hope this one can make up for it. I thought the fox rumor was just a rumor. If not then what a horrible idea
Greengo - 11/13/2012, 2:58 PM
I enjoyed TASM... to my surprise.

Spidey31 - 11/13/2012, 2:59 PM
Is Lewis a ginger?
sKeemAn - 11/13/2012, 2:59 PM
in the words of grif shit movie
marvel72 - 11/13/2012, 2:59 PM
jamie foxx as electro is terrible just as bad as michael clarke duncan as the kingpin,if a character is white in the comics he should be white in the film.

their is plenty of black characters for black actors to play.
RedeyeJedi - 11/13/2012, 3:01 PM
I don't mind Foxx so much, I just wish they were using a better villain.
Spidey31 - 11/13/2012, 3:02 PM
@marvel72 your right but what if Jamie foxx is genuinely good in the role, isn't that all that matters?
ATrueHero1987 - 11/13/2012, 3:07 PM
@marvel72 Sorry friend, I have to disagree with you there. Now if you was talking about Thor or Black Panther, then yes, I can agree with your there. Other than that...
Vital - 11/13/2012, 3:08 PM
Man the douchebags came out of the woodwork on this article lol. Anywho, the interview up top was funny. Lewis is amazing in Dreamcatcher, and I never understood why he wasn't a big name because of his performance in that film. He's good at being creepy so him as Norman would be perfect. I like Jamie Foxx, the guy is an under-rated actor and all of his movies are good, especially the ones where he is a leading character like Law Abiding Citizen or Collateral.
Funsize - 11/13/2012, 3:08 PM
*shrugs* cant wait to see some set photos which always make my day :)
Vital - 11/13/2012, 3:09 PM
People need to stop being dicks, and start appreciating things more. Especially members on this site.
AmericanPsychoWolf - 11/13/2012, 3:10 PM
If Damien Lewis is gonna play Norman then who the hell is Michael Massee gonna play?
Rockstar96 - 11/13/2012, 3:10 PM
I liked the TASM, but these things bothered me:

The spider bit Peter on the neck; wasn't the spider supposed to have bitten him on his hand?

Peter skates; this isn't a major concern like the problem before, but I'm pretty sure Peter was never a skater in the comics.

Other than that, this film was awesome!
OdinsBeard - 11/13/2012, 3:11 PM
lewis is 41 years old. and doesn't look any older. peter's parents disappeared, what about 12-13 years before the events of TASM? so norman osborn is 28 during the time that richard and curt were working together for the large corporation known as oscorp? don't buy it...
ATrueHero1987 - 11/13/2012, 3:11 PM
I also agree that they should try to stay with how the character look in the books but they also have the right person to bring that character to life.

Ex. Kingpin in DD. I remember them saying they tested wrestlers for the Kingpin at first but that didn't work out. MKD was the best choice. He was one of the few good things about DD(which isn't a good movie)
soberchimera - 11/13/2012, 3:12 PM
Funsize - 11/13/2012, 3:13 PM
I really hope they do great on the villains this time. I dont have an issue with race though. As long as they play the part good thats all I care about. For electro, I think they might go with the ultimates design since its much easier to adapt onscreen.
DrHorrible - 11/13/2012, 3:13 PM
The movie DEFINITELY gets better with multiple viewings. I can't wait to see what they do for #2.

I like the choice for MJ, but even as I like Jamie Foxx and think he's a good actor, I'm kind of uneasy about him as Electro. I'll give him a chance though. Also, I have no real problem with Damien Lewis as Norman if it's true.
RSDhillon - 11/13/2012, 3:15 PM
I always see people complain about the Lizard (not here, thank God!) I think the Lizard is really cool and I'm glad he got live-action treatment. I haven't seen TASM yet, but I'm sure I'll love it.

@TrueRedBlue
Where is your avatar from? It looks cool.
Spidey31 - 11/13/2012, 3:16 PM
Ya I can't wait for set pics too!:) those were the only reason I ever came to this site
AmericanPsychoWolf - 11/13/2012, 3:16 PM
The Lizard.....Don't you mean Killer Goomba Croc?
soberchimera - 11/13/2012, 3:18 PM
@HalloweenJack "A villain in a movie, Christoph Waltz must play him!!!!!"

Yeah no, Norman Osborn does not have a german accent. Jason Issacs or Damian Lewis or GTFO.
