AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2: Dane Dehaan Spotted With Andrew Garfield At Marc Webb's House

But before you go thinking that he's definitely nabbed the role of 'Harry Osborn' in the sequel, he wasn't the only actor spotted heading to Marc Webb's house to presumably do some sort of screen test with Andrew Garfield. Hit the jump for details!

By Josh Wilding - 11/19/2012
The paparazzi were out in full force yesterday to catch Andrew Garfield, Dane Dehaan and another young actor (presumably Brady Corbet, although it could be Alden Ehrenreich - it's hard to tell) arriving at the house of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb. This at least confirms those earlier reports, but also reveals that a decision clearly has not been made at this point. In related news, it's thought that the production title of the film will be London's Calling, possibly a reference to the fact that in the comic books, Gwen Stacy once spent a considerable amount of time in London. Alternatively, Marc Webb might just be a fan of the song by 'The Clash'.

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson
Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro
Sally Fields as Aunt May

RELEASE DATE: May 2nd, 2014.

SPOILER

Harry is actually a salad.
TruthNoFodder - 11/19/2012, 1:43 PM
So its NOT JUST Dane Dehaan at Webb's house but the previously posted list of candidates? Pointless and misleading article! Let me know when someone actually DOES get the role.
TruthNoFodder - 11/19/2012, 1:44 PM
Quick, Garfield and Stone had salad last week at Chopped, someone write that up!
TheAmazingChrisReeve63 - 11/19/2012, 1:46 PM
Dane Dehaan, I think, is a great choice for Harry Osborn. He has that tortured/childlike innocence to him. And that, IMO, is something that I see when I look at Harry Osborn in the comics. I hope that when they do the script for the sequel, they make Harry like how he was portrayed in The Spectacular Spider-Man show. Harry having to try and win his father's affection and love through doing things just to get that. Something similar to that will be perfect for Harry. :)
darkmetal - 11/19/2012, 1:48 PM
Whats most surprising about this is that there are actually paparazzi watching Webb's house!!!
patriautism - 11/19/2012, 1:48 PM
@TruthNoFodder Exactly how is it misleading? The Title just said he and Garfield were spotted at Webb's house together, and they were.. I just don't see how on Earth that is misleading in any way, shape, or form.

darkmetal - 11/19/2012, 1:49 PM
Webb likes to invite guys over to his house "to get to know them" before he works with them.
TruthNoFodder - 11/19/2012, 1:50 PM
@patriautism Because Dehaan wasn't the only one there. It makes it seem as if he's the front runner or has the inside track for the role.
TrueRedBlue - 11/19/2012, 1:51 PM
Holy crap! That's awesome! You know, I have a pretty great feeling about this movie. Now that they've gotten the whole reboot of the origin out of the way, they can finally get down to business with their own universe. Can't wait!
patriautism - 11/19/2012, 1:52 PM
@TruthNoFodder It doesn't make him seem like anything, it just says a fact, that is backed up with pictures..
It is news because he is rumored to be playing Harry. and seeing the 2 together just adds weight to the rumor..
GuardianAngel - 11/19/2012, 1:53 PM
One question. Why are they bringing him salads?
TeeKay - 11/19/2012, 1:57 PM
@TheAmazingSpidey63 "Harry having to try and win his father's affection and love through doing things just to get that"
That's exactly what Harry was trying to do in Raimi's first Spider-Man film
Beaner8127 - 11/19/2012, 1:58 PM
I just want to see the Gwen Stacy/Norman Osbourne affair and pregnancy before she dies. Oh, and for them not to mess this movie up.
johnnysnow - 11/19/2012, 1:58 PM
So, they were spotted at the house of Marc Webb's house? His house has a house?

Also, what does 'a considerable about of time in London' mean?

Also, Sally Fields doesn't play Aunt May. Sally Field does.

Also, cool beans.
TheAmazingChrisReeve63 - 11/19/2012, 1:59 PM
@darkmetal - Lmfaooooo!!

:P

TrueRedBlue - 11/19/2012, 2:05 PM
I'd REALLY like to see more of that bro bond between Peter and Harry. Didn't get to see much of that in the Original Trilogy. Hopefully Andrew and Dane end up having great chemistry together!
M3T4LL0 - 11/19/2012, 2:10 PM
Great!!! Loved this kid in Chronicle and he would make an awesome Harry. Cast him Webb!
M3T4LL0 - 11/19/2012, 2:10 PM
And is that a jar of weed in Andrews hand??
TheAmazingChrisReeve63 - 11/19/2012, 2:13 PM
@TeeKay - It didn't feel like Harry was trying to do that during Spider-Man. IMO, that is. Well, maybe at that one point in the film where Harry brought Mary Jane over to Peter's and Harry's apartment for Thanksgiving just to impress Norman and for his approval, but for the first half of the film, I just didn't feel that sort of performance with him during the film. In the second and third film, you can definitely see that he wants his father's name to be remembered and he avenges father by becoming The New Goblin. But I may have to watch Spider-Man again to review Harry Osborn's portrayal. :)
SolidSnake007 - 11/19/2012, 2:17 PM
Is that 2nd guy auditioning for The Outsiders or Grease?
BeanzReilly - 11/19/2012, 2:19 PM
Seems like they keep putting in whatever the people keep calling for when it come to this movie, doesn't sound good to me.
AlexDeLarge87 - 11/19/2012, 2:21 PM
I was bit doubtful about Dehaan but now that i think about it he could be pretty good choice as Harry. He has the creepy and aggressive look down.
CrimsonArk - 11/19/2012, 2:24 PM
@ Splenda
Because Peter doesn't really have any friends, so it would be interesting to see Peter hanging out with someone his age. And that would probably connect him more to Norman, which could allow a lot of possibilities right there considering in this universe he's dying, and he may or may not know Peter's Spider-Man. Plus you can't have Norman without Harry, Harry is there to display Norman's disconnection and focus only on his work. We also haven't really seen a teenage Harry, because in Raimi's movies he was the young adult one, so it'll be interesting to see what his place will be like in school. Will he be the popular douchey Harry from the early Amazing
Spider-Man comics, or the outcast more Peter-like Harry.
CrimsonArk - 11/19/2012, 2:27 PM
@ SpectacularSpider
What the hell are you talking about? Most people have been complaining about the casting choices, Harry's role is the only one with actors that most here seem to approve of. Did people call for Jamie Foxx or the girl who's playing MJ? Noooo. People were sh*t talking them like crazy.
Most of the actresses that people wanted to play MJ would never pass as high school students. High school girls don't look like super models, because they're still girls.
CrimsonArk - 11/19/2012, 2:31 PM
Seriously, it seems like some people is trying to look for any reason to doubt this movie. If you don't want to see it, then no one's forcing you to. Or at least wait til there's a plot line or set pictures.
Bandrews1 - 11/19/2012, 2:38 PM
If the role is for Harry then I think Dane Dehaan would be an interesting choice, he was great in Chronicle and Lawless.
BeanzReilly - 11/19/2012, 2:40 PM
I don't mind the casting choices but i hope they stop listening to the people who keep telling them what to do, like "gwen stacy must die" and stick to their own guns or else we'll end up with another spider-man 3 incident.
Parker2017 - 11/19/2012, 2:50 PM
@SpectacualrSpider It shall happen, but then agian we will get another re-reboot and the cycle will enver end my friend..

On a fun note: YAY FOR ANDREW! with beard and stache out, he is celebrating Movember like me,and lots of other people. So if Dane is Harry can WE GET MICHEAL AMSSEE AS NORMAN :3
CrimsonArk - 11/19/2012, 2:51 PM
@ SpectacularSpider
Gwen seems more likely to die in the 3rd one, which she will die at some point, that's envitable, but that doesn't mean it'll be in this movie. Electro wasn't a villian anyone really asked for either. Most have been asking for Venom or Carnage (which doesn't make any sense why they would do that so soon, since Spider-Man 3 already dealt with the symbiote and everything), and Carnage will never be done, since it would probably take an R rated movie to give him justice. They haven't really been doing what people have demanded, the only thing you can say they've caved into is Spidey's costume design, but that won't really affect the movie itself in any way.
CrimsonArk - 11/19/2012, 2:54 PM
Am I only the one who's wonder why Harry had a widow's peak at such a young age? Also, are the red lines there suppose to mean he's a ginger or something?
Jolt17 - 11/19/2012, 2:59 PM
Yes.

He'd make an awesome Harry.
Optimus83 - 11/19/2012, 3:02 PM
this guy is Harry Osborn. ...
TheBeard - 11/19/2012, 3:12 PM
dane dehaan is a great choice for harry he was great in chronicle, that said sense when has this been confirmed?

starring Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro?

seriously, did i black out for a few days or is this still just a rumor?
TeeKay - 11/19/2012, 3:12 PM
@TheAmazing Spidey 63
It's done more subtly because I think that dinner scene sticks out the most but there's also a scene where Norman offers Peter a job and Peter refuse the offer then Norman says "I respect that, you want to make it on your own steam, that's great"
Harry's facial expression says everything,it's obvious that he's jealous that his father has great admiration for Peter than for Harry, seriously dude re-watch the movie, especially that scene
sonofvenom5 - 11/19/2012, 4:08 PM
I think he's a great choice fo harry and I can't wait for this
But I don't think electro can carry a movie like this I mean
It'll look sick on screen in 3d but electro didn't do it for me it will be a weak villan like asm the fan's are soo unpleasible like the lizerd the fan
Demaded the lizerd since sm2 and when they got him the complaind
He was too weak he wanted to turn everyone into lizerd he didn't look
Like the comic what look's good on paper dosn't allway's look good on the big screen he was true to the carector just the carector was not that intresting same with electro a c list villan who I feel shuld be a secendery
Villan that's also the broblem jamie foxx is too big for a secendry roll
He's a great actor but not for this c lister bring on norman and have him kill gwen it will make movie magic some pepole will say it's riping off the dark knight but it will be true to the comic's becuse it's somting that's part of spiderman history do it right bring on venom done right carnage hobgoblin the a lister's chris nolan only used b lister's for begin's villains that was allredy seen in movies soo mr webb bring it on
TheAmazingChrisReeve63 - 11/19/2012, 4:30 PM
@TeeKay - LoL, that's right. Forgot about that particular scene. Yeah, that is another scene that conveyed Harry's jealousy of him not getting that type of admiration from his father. But, as you've said, it was done more subtly, and I think, IMO, that they should've fleshed thadecwlopt out more. Not saying that James Franco was horrible or average when he portrayed Harry (I thought he was awesome), but I do wish they could've done more on Harry trying to earn that admiration from Norman. And, yeah. I gotta watch Spider-Man again. Been a while since I've watched it (like maybe a few months or so).
So with the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man already going under development, I hope that with Harry, they flesh out more of him wanting to earn Norman's affection and admiration. :)
TheAmazingChrisReeve63 - 11/19/2012, 4:32 PM
*that, not thadecwlopt.

Lmao, this phone and its small [frick]ing keyboard. XD

SAT - 11/19/2012, 6:44 PM
WAIT! Spoiler! Andrew has been bitten by a radioactive wolf!
Namor - 11/19/2012, 8:14 PM
who cares about another harry? I mean, i'm bored of him.. Bring in new villians, or even ones who weren't so big in like 3of the rami movies..

Rhino, Shocker, Kraven, Morbius, Mysterio, or any of them, excite me more then Harry.. I'm glad Electro is a possilbity, but Jamie Foxx is black, and Dillon is about as white as it gets in my opinion.. He should be done by Joel Kinnaman, who looks more like em then Jamie Foxx, obviously..
