Joel Edgerton (Warrior), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas), Lee Pace (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) and Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables) have all signed test deals for the lead role of 'Peter Quill' in Guardians of the Galaxy, while there is also said to be interest in Garrett Hedlund (Tron Legacy), James Marsden (X-Men) and Sullivan Stapleton (Animal Kingdom). This is an impressive list of actors and they would all bring something very different and unique to the lead role in James Gunn's foray into Marvel Studios' cosmic universe. So, when we asked you guys which of them you would most like to see bring 'Star-Lord' to the big screen in 2014, you came out in your thousands to vote! As you can see, there was a very clear favourite, so here's hoping that Marvel listen to fans and cast the Zero Dark Thirty star in Guardians of the Galaxy!

This film could be epically bad.
BigDamnHero - 12/2/2012, 7:14 AM
I just don't see Edgerton in that role.
simpleman - 12/2/2012, 7:15 AM
I voted for "Harrow", so I don't give a shit about Edgerton.
DaenerysTargaryen - 12/2/2012, 7:17 AM
And the Osama Bin Laden killer/Uncle Owen wins!
DrRockso - 12/2/2012, 7:22 AM
After watching Twilight(?) I want to change my vote to Lee Pace
AC1 - 12/2/2012, 7:25 AM
Knowing nothing about Guardians of the Galaxy, all I can say is that Joel certainly makes for a very likable lead actor, based on his performance in Warrior.
QuanZen - 12/2/2012, 7:25 AM
If this isn't done right it can be an epic fail. Unless you are a true fan of the comic world most don't even know about GOTG. So this film really has to win people over.
dnno1 - 12/2/2012, 7:33 AM
@QuanZen - that's trivial and goes without saying. What will really help this film is some tie in to the other franchises.
Preston - 12/2/2012, 7:37 AM

Whomever plays the role needs to be able to bring this to life:

This is a clear-cut case of Lemming syndrome. Edgerton's name is dropped once and now every fan wants him in a Marvel movie. Same thing has happened with Bradley Cooper, Nathan Fillion and several others.

And anyone who thinks this movie is gonna be bad should go back and watch Phase 1. 'Nuff said.
elessarundomiel2382 - 12/2/2012, 7:43 AM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOn0MK0toK0 Lee Pace
superotherside - 12/2/2012, 7:44 AM
Chris Pine is my pick, but Joel Edgerton might be a good pick as well, since I've heard great things about Warrior.
Theunderdog - 12/2/2012, 7:54 AM
I think he is too old for role I expect to cast someone between 25 -30

Theunderdog - 12/2/2012, 7:56 AM
Check out my GOTG CASTING

The Guardian Of The galaxy

Theunderdog - 12/2/2012, 7:57 AM
My pic is Billy Miller he acted along sarah michalle gellar in ringer
FilmDork1221 - 12/2/2012, 8:04 AM
My vote goes to John Barrowman
Kevinwillpeabodyproperties - 12/2/2012, 8:10 AM
Joel is exactly who I envision when I read the gotg comics.

Goooooooooooooooooo marvel!!!!!! Now give me thanos wrecking him
blackster - 12/2/2012, 8:17 AM
yea give it to lee pace.

he's a badass.
charlie2094 - 12/2/2012, 8:18 AM
Good casting! Great actor, could definitely pull it off. Hope Marvel goes with him, not really anyone else on that list I would choose for the role. Also looks the part too. Glad to see the days of "fans" basing their casting choice on look only are mostly over. Remember the horrific days of "Triple H" for Thor. Great actor >>> Looks the part. Will definitely be picturing Joel when I re-read Guardians.

Most interested in seeing who voices Rocket, GOTG is my most anticipated "Phase 2" film.
Preston - 12/2/2012, 8:19 AM

Guy Pearce:

Timothy Olyphant:

Funsize - 12/2/2012, 8:28 AM
Edgerton was my pick too. Marsden 2nd.
DrRockso - 12/2/2012, 8:31 AM
@Preston Duuude you're totally right. I thought Lockout was gonna suck but Guy totally rocked it out Plissken style.
Jollem - 12/2/2012, 8:34 AM
make me care about these galactic guards, marvel
BANEofExistence - 12/2/2012, 8:51 AM
Could care less for this film :/ would have rather had Black Panther or Dr. strange.... But then again, those r both to "unrealistic" for audiences, lets stick with Norse gods, a man on super steroids from WWII, Galctic Guardians, and alien races from different parts of the galaxy. Plus we will throw in a man who can shrink to a micr-man! Way more realistic and relata le! Come on Marvel, just bring the fans what the really want!!!!
Christuffer - 12/2/2012, 8:53 AM
Garret Hedlund for the win
l0rdleg0las - 12/2/2012, 8:56 AM
Olyphant is my number 1 dream pick, but i understand he might be too old for the part, but another idea I have had for a really great actor that is majorly underrated...Ben Foster
marvel72 - 12/2/2012, 8:59 AM
marvel studios have been pretty spot on with their castings whomever they chose i'm sure will be the right one.
JatevinM - 12/2/2012, 9:12 AM
Lee Pace would be perfect for Star Lord.
TheScarletSpider - 12/2/2012, 9:18 AM
joel edgerton is a good actor he can play star lord
CoolantTech - 12/2/2012, 9:29 AM
Edgerton for sure out of these guys, then I'd probably go with Marsden his looks and acting style is similar to Chris Evans, and he pulled off the leader role brilliantly
Hellsing - 12/2/2012, 9:50 AM
I honestly don't have a problem with any of the choices besides Hedlund, i'm down with any of the choices. But edgerton and pace would be my favourites, Pace just edges out edgerton for me simplt due to my love of the fall and pushing daisies.
whiteassmatt - 12/2/2012, 9:52 AM
@BANEofExistence

I too am waiting for Dr. Strange, and most importantly BLACK PANTHER. Come on Marvel Bring on T'Challa!!!
siggisuperman - 12/2/2012, 9:57 AM
Nice liking it
ItsNotASchooner - 12/2/2012, 10:16 AM
Lee Pace all they way.

Trust me, it would be inspired casting, just like RDJ!!
Equivocal - 12/2/2012, 10:22 AM
I agree with @theUnderDog about the actor's age...

ToTheManInTheColdSweat - 12/2/2012, 10:38 AM
Geezus, why do fanboys always cast the same 10 flavor of the year actors.

Might as well throw in Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Henry Cavill [frick] even Sam Worthington while we are at it. Smh, you would think there are only 10 actors in the entire hollywood industry.
SageMode - 12/2/2012, 10:52 AM
So pug-face Edgerton won the poll.
UncleDrew - 12/2/2012, 11:04 AM
Timothy Olyphant is the man and DC or Marvel need to consider him for a role.
VanthDreadstar - 12/2/2012, 11:17 AM
I dig GotG and I really loved the Rocket Raccoon limited series from the '80s but I've got to say this movie is starting to worry me. If this flies off the rails it will make Green Lantern look like Citizen Kane.
OtakuPapi - 12/2/2012, 11:48 AM
Someone said Guy Pearce. If i could pick a new punisher it would be Guy Pearce...has anyone seen Lockout!Either Punisher or .... you know what Guy could play Star Lord!
