As you can see, director Marc Webb has apparently confirmed that today is the first day of shooting on The Amazing Spider-Man follow-up which will pit the iconic Marvel superhero against Jamie Foxx's Electro. The second Tweet is actually a reference to the blackout which took place during last night's Super Bowl. However, his comment clearly couldn't have come at a better time as filming finally kicks off on the still untitled sequel. Stay tuned to CBM for further details and updates!

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson
Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro
Sally Fields as Aunt May

Okay, so he's filming on 35mm and doing stereoscopic 3D in post–. I hope this means we might get 70mm IMAX as well. He said he was considering it. Can't wait for production stills.
Paragon79 - 2/4/2013, 5:12 PM
Cool, I liked the first one more than any of Raimi's movies.
CaptainObvious - 2/4/2013, 5:13 PM
That guy sort of looks like Terence Stamp.
ManofSteel22 - 2/4/2013, 5:16 PM

@Spidermanfan2010- I wholeheartedly agree. Spidey has so many brilliant stories and characters that he can stand on his own.
AnitaDick - 2/4/2013, 5:34 PM
Can't wait to see ElectoFoxx! ...NOT!!!!
ManofSteel22 - 2/4/2013, 5:34 PM
and why would it be so bad to have all of his brilliant stories and have him tag team with iron man...tht would be awesome
santoanderson - 2/4/2013, 5:35 PM
Seriously Webb, this time make YOUR OWN Spider-man movie, and not a slight reimagining of a Raimi Spider-man movie.
BrotherStarkofMABMindz - 2/4/2013, 5:37 PM
Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four work better in a universe all their own, everyone else under MARVEL
TheAmazingSpiderMan47 - 2/4/2013, 5:40 PM
yep this is gonna go sinister six route, i just hope they put some good thought into the plot, and we should be ok... the only problem is sandman, venom, and ock have already been in movies ... people want NEW stuff
TheAmazingSpiderMan47 - 2/4/2013, 5:41 PM
and im not saying that any of the above characters have been done perfectly on screen... just that they are going to be recognized

You know, Spider-Man really DOES work better in his own universe. All the reasons we love Spectacular Spider-Man go against all the reasons we hate Ultimate Spider-Man! Even in Spider-Man 1990's, it barely made sense when any other Marvel character was involved. And in EMH, it was just strange seeing an "inferior" Spider-Man. He's always been the underdog and the topdog at the same time, it's completely impossible to match him with any other Marvel hero!

That said, those complaining again, TASM was pretty annoyingly close in some directions, but with a movie that has Electro and Rhino featuring at some point, and Mary Jane in an extremely minor role to be expanded in the next movie, I DOUBT there's really anything to make it similar until the get into the Venom storyline. Which I doubt they will anytime soon.
santoanderson - 2/4/2013, 5:45 PM
So are they shooting a scene in a plane, because "Phil the Camera Operator" certainly appears to be sitting in one next to a prepped camera.
CaptainObvious - 2/4/2013, 5:49 PM
@SUPERMAN2013- Iron Man doesn't have the many compelling stories and villains Spider-Man does. Spider-Man's universe is large and full of many villains and characters with complex intertwining backstories. His world is so large it rivals that of the Avengers.
TayDee - 2/4/2013, 5:54 PM
Speak for yourselves. Ultimate Spiderman was great pre and post ultimatum. The new Ultimate Spiderman series is even good.
thewonderer - 2/4/2013, 5:55 PM
First one was complete and utter shit.

Have no faith in this one as of now.
BANEofExistence - 2/4/2013, 5:55 PM
I loved Electro is spectacular Spiderman! Here is hoping for a great sequel! I hope to eventually get a venom (Bulked out like hardys bane) and another goblin would be sweet (maybe hobgoblin this time?)
thewolfx - 2/4/2013, 6:02 PM
Tasm was very meh , anybody who thinks it was better then all the raimi movies needs to hit puberty.

I hope mr webb learns from his mistakes from the first one because it did show potential.
xStarLordx - 2/4/2013, 6:07 PM
@BrotherStarkofMABMindz HECKZ YEAH!!!!!!!!!
marvel72 - 2/4/2013, 6:09 PM
the first film had its moments but nothing special, the sequel could be better now we don't have to go through the origin story again.
CaptainAmerica31 - 2/4/2013, 6:10 PM
@brothers got it right. Non avengers don't need to be in the MCU becasue the avengers sucks up everything. Spiderman is good on his own gives him the attention and money he deserves. Rather have a studio spend money on a A+ director and A+Actors on a single franchise becasue that's possible for one franchise. So all in all just get rid of tolmach
BennyFromTheBronx - 2/4/2013, 6:12 PM
Bring on the short fat rhino, known as Paul. Giamatti
superherofan21 - 2/4/2013, 6:28 PM
This movie's going to be fantastic! Just like TASM was. Still don't see why people don't like it. It's as silly as someone hating happiness... Oh well, I guess there'll always be haters.
ComicBookSon - 2/4/2013, 6:35 PM
Although I though Amazing Spider-man was okay, I am looking forward to this.
ATrueHero1987 - 2/4/2013, 6:39 PM
Let's make this one AMAZING this time and not just OK!
Bring on the sequel!
HavocPrime - 2/4/2013, 6:50 PM
Cool, but why the rush?
CoolantTech - 2/4/2013, 7:03 PM
Would love to see all the Marvel characters in the same movie somehow one day... there.. I said it...
deanwilkins - 2/4/2013, 7:15 PM
I liked the first one. Garfield was the Spidey Raimi should have had in his films. Just watched the original trilogy again and it was good, but Tobey was terrible. This next film will hopefully be "amazing". I have high hopes for it.
DrDoom - 2/4/2013, 7:27 PM
Yay for The Arbitrary Spider-Man 2!
AmazingFantasy - 2/4/2013, 7:43 PM
Bring it.
[frick]ing excited
CaptainAmerica31 - 2/4/2013, 7:44 PM
@marvelphysco that's not the point, the point of Spidey being in the universe is that he'll not get the attention he deserves. I want a big budget spiderman movie. If it goes to the MCU The money is being spent on all these properties. Marvel studios can't possibly have all the rights to their properties or they'll end up like WB and not be able to produce all of their properties 2 times a year. Besides marvel studios doesn't make that great of movies, they've made only 2 movies that have been critcally aclaimed. The point is if I had to choose one property that doesn't need to rely on a supporting cast of other heroes it would be spiderman, so there is no need for him to be in a universe surrounded by other heroes when he can stand alone. So I would rather have a studio be able to spend all of its resources on a single hero meaning quality actors and and director. Look at the dark knight look at X-men first class. But the Spidey rights going back after this trilog anyways
KeefNCookies - 2/4/2013, 7:51 PM
Oh my goodness people... stop trying to speak for "EVERYONE." It makes you look like idiots. Just because you believe in a reason does not mean everyone else does. Spider-Man being in an Avengers Universe was, is and never will be the problem or reason for loving or hating a show as a whole. If its an individual reason, then thats all it is. Just because some people agree with you doesnt mean everybody does. I'm sick of people's assumptions of groups as a whole.

I think Spider-Man would be great in the MCU, but I dont really care to Webbs version. Could be worse I suppose... could be Maguire (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO). I feel like too much would be sacrificed working with an outside studio and overall, there's more than enough MCU characters to go around for a while. Not to say I would care if they did mix... I just dont care if they dont either.

Hell To The Freaking Yeah. BRING IT ON!
