In the following excerpts taken from the latest issue of Empire Magazine, new details as to what we should expect from Iron Man 3 have been revealed. The publication was shown 15 minutes of footage from the film, including a sequence which sees Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark seeking the help a ten year old child (played by Insidious' Ty Simpkins). The report also seemingly confirms that Aldrich Killian not only works for The Mandarin, but also that he uses the 'Extremis' virus to gain superhuman powers, perhaps taking on the role of Mallen, the character from the comic book series upon which the movie is loosely based. Pick up the magazine for much, much more!

The scene ends with Stark, bloodied and dazed, flying away not entirely in control of his malfunctioning prototype. He lands hundreds of miles away in a snowy field, where, out of power, he can't get in touch with Pepper. Or Rhodey. Or The Avengers, neatly sidestepping that question.

Breaking into a deserted-looking garage, the tone then zigzags again as Tony is startled by a ten year-old kid, Harley (Ty Simpkins) sparking what [Drew] Pearce calls the film's "sci-fi Capra" phase. "We loved the idea of doing something classically Spielbergian - a kid finds a superhero in a shed. Their relationship is not something you would traditionally see in Spielberg, though; it's bawdier, more fractious."

Extremis is a scientific program invented by Hansen and abused by the Mandarin and his right-hand man, Guy Pearce's slimy Aldrich Killian. It rewrites the operating system of the body, upgrading strength, speed and durability to the very zenith of human possibility.

"We're calling it a biological reality and there's a science behind it that allows people to glow and rip apart Iron Man suits," says Feige. "Frankly, Shane was not interested, and we were not interested, in having another armoured character and another armoured character fight. We've done that twice before."

Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

STARRING:

Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts

Chloefornication - 2/25/2013, 4:14 PM
A kid out of [frick]ing nowhere in a superhero film to give more appeal for the kids. Wow, what a surprise!

We've seen this before...every...[frick]ing...time.
ahhmynuts - 2/25/2013, 4:15 PM

Ocelot - 2/25/2013, 4:18 PM
@SUPERGUY15 nope its about a movie that comes out next year not ant-man
DrDoom - 2/25/2013, 4:18 PM
Regardless of their stance on armoured fights for this movie, I still want to see Crimson Dynamo and/or Titanium Man down the line.
MutantEquality - 2/25/2013, 4:19 PM

Sounds great. I can't wait! I believe that Nolan truly broke the threequel curse. Let this be the start of great things to come from Marvel!
BrownandYellowWolvie - 2/25/2013, 4:29 PM
this is not surprising considering they have many of the extremis characters and plot devices already confirmed by trailers and casting. I wonder how this movie and characters/villains will tie into other movies. If Killian really plays the role of Mallen, then it seems like a waste just to have Mandarin being MERELY the guy pulling the strings. I hope he has a deeper connection to the MCU.

By that description of the Extremis virus and what it does....

Are they going to veer from the comic storyline and say Extremis is a variation of Cap's super-soldier serum?

Or...HERE"s a way-out there theory...Extremis virus +LMD + Destroyer body + sentient Iton Man armor + Hank Pym= Ultron......

Yeah...Think I picked a bad day to stop sniffing glue...lol
DrDoom - 2/25/2013, 4:35 PM
@Dgabbor

I saw Whiplash with the Crimson Dynamo's name.

I want this:

Ocelot - 2/25/2013, 4:39 PM
think killian and coldblood will take the mallen role, jame badge dale who plays coldblood said something about his character fighting other robots, which are presumably iron man and war machine
YoungThanos - 2/25/2013, 4:40 PM
I'm liking what I'm hearing. Good job Marvel!
Necroxide - 2/25/2013, 4:44 PM
If there is no Armor fights or magical rings,
what does Iron man fight !!??!!?
this guy and an army of jets and tanks ?

...He got 40 fighting armors !
95 - 2/25/2013, 4:52 PM
How do Coldblood-7 and Firepower factor in? I can imagine Coldblood-7 being an Extremis soldier. That still kind of makes him a cyborg, right?
IIIAdamantiumIII - 2/25/2013, 4:52 PM
lol I didn't like batman begins that much and TDKR was an okay film.

People hate on spider-man 3 but I loved sandman in it Raimi just loved wasting screen time in his Spider-man films
IIIAdamantiumIII - 2/25/2013, 4:54 PM
you could really just cut ironman1 and 2 together as a super cut version of Ironman. the second film honestly just felt like one big ass extended scene.
AgeofApocalypse - 2/25/2013, 4:54 PM
So, Extremis is basically a glow inducing Super Soldier serum?
LAXtremest - 2/25/2013, 4:55 PM
We already know the final battle is Iron Man vs. the Mandarin in a back hoe ;)
95 - 2/25/2013, 4:58 PM
Guy Pearce said his role was a cameo. I took it that he means he'll only appear in the beginning and have participate in only one action scene (perhaps Tony's first bout with an Extremis soldier). But now I'm wondering if he'll (Mallen) be the main fighting villain of this piece. If so, I guess The Mandarin will be like Ernst Blofeld in 007.

@AgeOfApocalypse Yeah, seems like it.
TheAbomination - 2/25/2013, 4:59 PM
Interesting...
marvel72 - 2/25/2013, 5:03 PM
sounds promising, can't wait for the new trailer.
IronVenom22 - 2/25/2013, 5:04 PM
I wonder how Eric savin fits into all of this, perhapes he's the Extremis Soldier in the Malibu Lego set.

@95 I think that because of the Lego set he appears in, that will be his action scene and after which he dies. I think the he will be the mallen of this movie, or Eric Savin
SugarYumYum - 2/25/2013, 5:08 PM
Sounds cool all around. Like how they're having a kid help out Tony, very old school and the young'uns will love it.
95 - 2/25/2013, 5:16 PM
@IronVenom22 You're probably right.
marcel - 2/25/2013, 5:20 PM
This sites mobile browsing has went to shit lately with all the adds. Anyone else have this problem?
IronVenom22 - 2/25/2013, 5:22 PM
@95 yeah, i hope we find out how Eric Savin fits into all of this soon. But they are going to keep that secret til the film comes out, much like the Avengers with the chitauri
SpideySam - 2/25/2013, 5:23 PM
GUYS

If you go on YouTube there is an animated version of the Etremis comic - the art is beautiful and amazingly animated, plus the story and action is amazing.

I think they'll have to change the end - Tony is BRUTAL
dracula - 2/25/2013, 5:23 PM
avengers 3 villain should be ultron
95 - 2/25/2013, 5:32 PM
@marcel On my iPhone, for the last right months or so, loading pages on this site were a disaster. Would take a minute or so, and sometimes freeze up. I was fine with other sites, and CBM home page was fast, but articles were were slow as [frick]. Since you mentioned ads, I think that's it. I mean, I figured it had to be, but I wasn't sure because I hadn't seen any complains until yours. Fortunately, for me, it's improved. It's almost in tip-top speed, but still slow. And watching YouTube embed are still a roll-of-the-device for me.
95 - 2/25/2013, 5:32 PM
Eight months*
Not "right".
95 - 2/25/2013, 5:36 PM
@IronVenom22 That actually brings back memories of Iron Man 2, for me. I was dying to get a peek at Crimson Dynamo. As you probably figured, when I saw him in the climax, boy was I disappointed. Hours scouring speculation threads on web was an utter waste.
