Sylvester Stallone is currently hard at work penning the screenplay for The Expendables 3. The legendary actor took to Twitter last night to not only reveal that, but to also share his thoughts on what new elements he plans on bringing to the third instalment in the popular franchise.

The Expendables 2 was a fair bit different to the first movie and it sounds as if this next one will be just as distinct in terms of tone and character. Are you looking forward to seeing what Sly comes up with? Who else should join the cast? Be sure to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!

@LEVIKUTZ yeah Nic Cage should be in every movie. He definitely has to be in Hellboy 3 thats probably the only way that movies going to happen.
Mercwitham0uth - 3/13/2013, 5:54 AM
Lol @Hellsing.

Wouldn't mind Cage. Would be cool if he was the villain.
gaikinger - 3/13/2013, 5:56 AM
Sean Connery
HellsHammer - 3/13/2013, 5:58 AM
I still have to check out the first 2
NoJobBOB - 3/13/2013, 6:02 AM
Still haven't seen these films yet.

I'll get around to it sometime.
knocturnalzen10 - 3/13/2013, 6:02 AM
u guys aren't serious about that whole nic cage thing right ?
in the words of sean penn "[1999] Nic Cage [Nicolas Cage] is no longer an actor. He's more like a performer"
shadearts - 3/13/2013, 6:14 AM
I am campaigning for Mel Gibson he is the only dude missing from that action hero area or at least Danny Glover
StrangerX - 3/13/2013, 6:15 AM
Too bad the humor isnt funny. If its meant to be the over the top sarcastic humor, get some good comedy writers don't try and write yourself Sly. Jackie Chan Terry Crews and Willis are the only thing going for this movie that can provide that. Its prob best to leave the humor to them.

Just sayin
StrangerX - 3/13/2013, 6:22 AM
People may rank on Cage but he has the ability to do an action film and come off humorous. So does Gibson and Kurt Russell.

ROCK, The ROCK...ROCK, The ROCK...ROCK, The ROCK...ROCK, The ROCK...ROCK, The ROCK...ROCK, The ROCK..ROCK, The ROCK
mattbo - 3/13/2013, 6:42 AM
Is Wesley Snipes out of prison yet? Also yes to Jackie Chan. Idk what young woman they could have but Michelle from Crouching Tiger, i forget her, would make a good fighter. She isnt young but would still be cool. Idk who could play the computer hacker, probably anyone
Jer3miah - 3/13/2013, 6:46 AM
*eye roll*
No wonder this so-called franchise lacks everything necessary for a competent movie. Stallone's writing them. Ugh, I knew 5th graders with better writing chops than half of Hollywood, much less Stallone. And he wonders why the film receives the criticism it does..
White - 3/13/2013, 6:48 AM
Make it from the beginning to be Rated-R. No any PG-13 rumors or CGI blood this time. Give us what we want!
fettastic - 3/13/2013, 6:52 AM
Unfortunately these films have never risen above "ok". In my opinion Sly's films have been on a steady decline since Rocky Balboa.
yingyangpalms - 3/13/2013, 6:53 AM
It was a premise that was maxed out midway through #1.

Expendables 2, Last Stand, Bullet To The Head, Die Hard 5 all flopped and signal that its time for the old 80's and early 90's action stars to retire with at least some dignity.
GetsugaTensho22 - 3/13/2013, 6:53 AM
Cage is an amazing and brilliant actor.
He's just deliberately trolling around for Fun these days.
fettastic - 3/13/2013, 6:53 AM
@Jer3miah. Sly has written most of his films, including the Oscar winning Rocky.
NoJobBOB - 3/13/2013, 7:01 AM
He's also directed a lot of them also. Im not a big fan of his but I did like the newest Rocky that came out a while back..
DUCKBOY - 3/13/2013, 7:03 AM
DIE HARD 5 AND EXPENDABLES 2 DIDNT FLOP, THEY ACTUALLY TURNED A GOOD PROFIT, NOT THE BEST MOVIES BUT WOULD LIKE TO SEE ONE MORE IN EACH SERIES TO REDEEM THEMSELVES AND LEAVE THE FRANCHISES ON A GOOD NOTE IF NOT GREAT

DaneE5R - 3/13/2013, 7:06 AM
Jer3miah, please introduce me to this classroom of Oscar winning 5th grade screen writers. That sounds amazing.
MisterNiceGuy - 3/13/2013, 7:08 AM
Where is the kickass trailer
SlaveMasterFlexXx - 3/13/2013, 7:13 AM
I like what I hear about Chan, Snipes and Cage joining now all they need is The Rock! Even tho I like the humor I'd prefer it to focus in the more R-rated kickass side if things this time.
PC04 - 3/13/2013, 7:18 AM
I think EX3 need some Wolverine..I mean High Jackman.

What about Tony Jaa!? He could flip off some elephants and kick the shit out of everything that walks.

For giggles, lets throw in Vin Diesel, he's been good in "A Man Apart", "Find me guilty", and the "Riddick" movies. Despite the cheese factor of the Fast and Furious movies he still makes it pretty enjoyable.

I'll cast a serious vote for Nic Cage. A lot of people give him shit, but those people most likely saw the "Wicker Man" and "Drive Angry" and said "I know everything there is to know about Nic Cages career now he can't act blah blah blah".

SEAN CONNERY, CLINT EASTWOOD,EDDIE MURPHY,BEN STILER,JACK BLACK,RYAN REYNOLDS,TOM SELLECK,ADRIAN BRODY
yingyangpalms - 3/13/2013, 7:30 AM
@DUCKBOY Old Lions got pushed aside for young Stallone, Arnold, Chuck, Jean Claude and others back in the 70s-early 90's.
All the PEDs these guys can take will not stop the same from happening to them.

MisterNiceGuy - 3/13/2013, 7:33 AM
Nick cage sucks. I can't stand watching him on screen
Timerider84 - 3/13/2013, 7:43 AM
Kurt Russell, Mel Gibson, Carl Weathers and Nic Cage as the crazy villain. EX4, John Travolta/ Thomas Jane?
Timerider84 - 3/13/2013, 7:45 AM
Clint Eastwood cameo in place of Chuck Norris' cameo in this one.
WEJAlen20 - 3/13/2013, 7:46 AM
New Blood
Timerider84 - 3/13/2013, 7:53 AM
I would love to see the ladies of action, like Sigourney Weaver and Linda Hamilton, if they got back in shape that is. I know that won't happen, maybe a little cameo would be nice or something like that.
supermarioworldE - 3/13/2013, 7:54 AM
Lose the (melo) drama and up the comedy, and I'm in. The second movie embraced the cheesiness of Stallone's past films and that's what made it better than the first. The third movie should follow the same path.
SCURVYDOG619 - 3/13/2013, 8:14 AM
@LEVIYKRUZ: The Chin wants to be in Hellboy 3?????

There's only one role in that movie he MUST play...

Lobster Johnson.

Make It So,del Toro.....
SlaveMasterFlexXx - 3/13/2013, 8:22 AM
OMFG Bruce in Hellboy 3 would be...... Wait for it...... Groovy!
Pathogen - 3/13/2013, 8:24 AM
anyone that thinks Nic Cage is a respectable actor needs to get their head checked. Or see Captain Corelli's Mandolin.

and all his other movies.
SlaveMasterFlexXx - 3/13/2013, 8:43 AM
Nic is the CageMaster!!!!!
nonserviam - 3/13/2013, 8:45 AM
While they are at it they should bring in Keanu Reeves.

He could be all like "woah........"

You know, because he knows kung fu and stuff.
DatScarletPimPerNeLL - 3/13/2013, 8:49 AM
Agreed @ blackandyellow. I've said it before...will say it again...Carl Weathers has more than earned his spot on this..beautiful train wreck of a franchise. Give Chubbs a chance Sly...go to your happy place... Tap it into your brain...you'll see it's not such a horrible idea...just tap it in. You've only just begun Sly...make it happen.
Godzillafart - 3/13/2013, 8:53 AM
I can't remember which scenes were in part 1 and which were in part 2. :(
nuclearpriest - 3/13/2013, 9:47 AM
when it comes to EXPENDABLES 3 here is all the update you'll need, it's going to be sub-literate garbage and a total waste of celluloid. Oh! and there'll be lots of Geritol at craft services.
Timerider84 - 3/13/2013, 9:56 AM
I could see Clint Eastwood use the old bulletproof vest gag in Expendables 3, then he could say, "Works everytime!"
Deadshot - 3/13/2013, 10:08 AM
Expendables 2 had far too much jokes, and EVERYONE thought the Billy the kid character looked out of place. Now Stallone wants more of these young guys?!? The whole appeal of the franchise is seeing old guys kick ass.
sephiroth211 - 3/13/2013, 10:22 AM
Hey Sly, tell that douche Jason I said go jump off a bridge! This ones for you Statham.

sephiroth211 - 3/13/2013, 11:26 AM
@Gus: God I hope so.
WesleyGibson - 3/13/2013, 2:51 PM
Nic Cage and Jackie Chan is all I want to see as the new additions. Gimme them along with the rest of the cast and I'll be a happy man.

funny...?? Ellen..?? i want sly to get his other former co-stars, wesley, carl, T, kurt, antonio and...oh, by funny, maybe he meant SANDRA BULLOCK. c'mon..i don't mind the chick's funny, but in a movie full of testosterone and huge biceps and six-eight packers..they gotta have a HOT lady in there. and i think sandy's still one of the hottest hollywood honeyz who also knows funny.
