MGM Says To Expect BOND 24 Within The Next Three Years; Director Announcement Incoming

Following Sam Mendes' announcement that he won't return to helm the John Logan scripted follow-up to Skyfall, MGM have now confirmed that they are on the hunt for a new director and that we should expect to see James Bond 24 within the next three years.

In a conference call yesterday, MGM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gary Barber offered an update on the status of James Bond 24. Skyfall director Sam Mendes recently confirmed that he will not return to helm the follow-up, but an announcement in regards to who will replace him is apparently now on the way. "We are very excited about the franchise, we look forward to announcing a director soon," Barber told Reuters. "We are currently developing the screenplay and working with our partners. We look forward to developing the script soon and signing a director. We are hoping within the next 3 years it will be released." After Skyfall became the first movie in the 50 year old franchise to gross $1 billion at the worldwide box office, you would think that the studio would want to put the next one on the fast track, especially as Daniel Craig seemed to indicate during press for that movie that his time as 007 was nearing its end.

Christopher Nolan could make a really great Bond Movie, but with his new Sci-fi Coming soon, I doubt he'll be taking on any new projects.

I wouldn't be surprised if Steven Soderbergh jumped at the chance to direct the next Bond movie though.
Splenda - 3/20/2013, 6:31 AM
Tommy Wiseau :)
Chloefornication - 3/20/2013, 6:37 AM
Good. That means they have time enough to make a good movie and not something bad just desperate for money like QoS.
knocturnalzen10 - 3/20/2013, 6:37 AM
I wonder if bond use a condom with any of the woman ............. hmmmmmmmmmm
thewonderer - 3/20/2013, 6:37 AM

Nolan would do fantastic
DrDoom - 3/20/2013, 6:49 AM

mstargel - 3/20/2013, 6:57 AM
I would love to see the introduction of a new agent... someone who might be able to carry on the franchise....

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

... just a thought
AlexDeLarge87 - 3/20/2013, 7:00 AM
Joe Wright, Rupert Wyatt, Kevin Macdonald, Tom Hooper, Matthew Vaughn, Tomas Alfredson, Paul McGuigan or maybe Martin Campbell again.
AlexDeLarge87 - 3/20/2013, 7:01 AM
Kevin Macdonald is my personal favorite for the job.
thewonderer - 3/20/2013, 7:01 AM
Levit, who would you pick?
MrMartinMarvel - 3/20/2013, 7:08 AM
@jCameron If I ignore you will you go away?
FalafelVsShawarma - 3/20/2013, 7:10 AM
well,in Skyfall he quit for couple of months, probably a year right??..

It is pretty obvious why they decide to make 3 years gap for production..1)skyfall is a big success and there's 4 years gap between Qos and Skyfall. 2)Nolan is available in 2016,and since he always making film every 2 years, after Intersellar comes out in 2014,there's a possibility that he will helm Bond 24 with production in 2015 and release in 2016..

If nolan directing it,big chance it will comes out in 20-25th July or in November..
FalafelVsShawarma - 3/20/2013, 7:18 AM
i hope they'll introduce some 00 agents as Bond's partner in his mission..they could go with "old dog" and "new blood" style, with Bond mentoring the new 00 agent..while himself is struggling with his age and stamina..
JatevinM - 3/20/2013, 7:21 AM
Because the undeniable truth is that Nolan's style of film making would fit perfectly with a character driven Bond movie.
JatevinM - 3/20/2013, 7:22 AM
Plus Joss Whedon would never be considered to direct a Bond movie so why is his name even being brought up?
TheOther - 3/20/2013, 7:31 AM
@Cameron, Whedon is not interested in directing a Bond film, so stop bitching around.
fettastic - 3/20/2013, 7:37 AM
That's going to be one geriatric Bond.
Canon108 - 3/20/2013, 7:45 AM
Matthew Vaughn should direct...L4YER CAKE was awesome, he wouldn't make Bond campy. Paul Greengrass needs to pick up a tripod, or get a camera man not stricken with Parkinson's disease before he directs again.
JatevinM - 3/20/2013, 7:45 AM
ELgUaSoN@ I normally dont like to fan the flames of this stupid ass Marvel Vs. DC crap but please dont act like Whedon did anything original in the Avengers. It was a great movie but that story was pretty routine.
Canon108 - 3/20/2013, 7:46 AM
Sorry Cameron, I corrected the auto correct...now it looks like you've been talking to yourself.
SlaveMasterFlexXx - 3/20/2013, 7:46 AM
@jcameron shut the [frick] up you filthy troll this had nothing to do with marvel or DC or your shitty FoXmen go [frick]ing die already. Why are you not banned?

Anyways this is a fail they said expect a new bond every other year. It's not like Craig is getting any younger and it was obvious Mendez wasnt returning from the start it should be a fresh director every movie.
AlexDeLarge87 - 3/20/2013, 7:49 AM
Grace Jones. Now that was one hell of a Bond girl. :P

Anyone remember Vamp?
DRMidNite - 3/20/2013, 7:53 AM
Let Rob Zombie direct? LOL
Jollem - 3/20/2013, 7:55 AM
maybe the next bond won't be so boring
jlabatman0511 - 3/20/2013, 7:55 AM

@ Gusto - Who's that? Alan Moore? ;)
bestintheworld - 3/20/2013, 8:22 AM
Anton Corbijn
bestintheworld - 3/20/2013, 8:24 AM
Or if you want to send Craig out with a bang, Ben Affleck. Doubt he'd do it though.
AmericanPsychoWolf - 3/20/2013, 8:33 AM
Yeah.....Nolan will direct a Bond movie within the next 10 years (If his rumored involvement with the DCU isn't true, it might be earlier) Anyone who say's otherwise must be deluding themselves.

Speaking of delusion we got Wonder, Jcam, and Elguason the cockriders of Nolan, Singer and Whedon.....All we need is iJack and we can party like its 19.99.
Nomis - 3/20/2013, 8:44 AM
@ AmericanPsycho - All we need is iJack and we can party like its 19.99.

AH HELLS YEAH!!!! You ain't have to tell me TWICE!!!

Nomis - 3/20/2013, 8:48 AM
@ Gusto - LOL!!!! what the what...Is not a shag...it's not a mullett.....it's a shullet?
chris043 - 3/20/2013, 8:52 AM
Better hurry, Craig is already 45 and he is not aging weell.
Morbius - 3/20/2013, 8:55 AM
How bout Mr Joe Wright he is a good actin director and I dont think he is doing anything right now. What the hell is this 3 years BS I dont want to wait that long again!!!!!
DrainBamage - 3/20/2013, 9:01 AM
I don't blame Mendes for not wanting to do another. After the performance of Skyfall, that pressure from the fans and the studio to crank out another film as successful would be overwhelming. Better to quit while you're on top of the hill.

Sometimes, you just have to know when to shout "BOOYAH!" and walk away.
TheGreatone0207 - 3/20/2013, 9:10 AM
3 years is way too long not to capitalize on the success of Skyfall.
Jollem - 3/20/2013, 9:11 AM
top of the hill was casino royale :)
LucasMend - 3/20/2013, 9:11 AM
God SKYFALL winning that much of money is so great for MGM, same with hobbit. The studio was in the shit, now they can get up and continue with the success. Two more HOBBIT movies which will certainly be a hit, and Bond movies will certainly be a big success again.
AlexDeLarge87 - 3/20/2013, 9:45 AM
Hey if everything works out fine the movie could come earlier. He said WITHIN three years.
Nomis - 3/20/2013, 9:45 AM
Poodullet was the name of my progresive Rock-Raggae band back in college. ;)
Nomis1800 - 3/20/2013, 10:01 AM
Compared with the header pic of this article, Craig is aging a lot... So betting this will be out 2015 there might very well be another three years before Bond25 and then it's 2018. So yeah, I think he should stop after 24.
jimoakley666 - 3/20/2013, 10:37 AM
Or. You. Could start filming it this year.
mattattack - 3/20/2013, 11:10 AM
At least it seems like they're trying to make sure they get it right?
Weeton - 3/20/2013, 12:40 PM
@elguason: you're an idiot. Because Avengers came out all of two months right before TDKR was released. Clearly those two months (and the many YEARS that led up to pre and post production) would have been better suited to redo a few scenes that happened to be in two separate movies by two separate directors who had no clue what the other person was actually working on. Yea -- your opinions clearly have merit. *end sarcasm*
bcom77 - 3/20/2013, 12:45 PM
I call either Brett Ratner or Paul W.S. Anderson to direct the next one. Now that would be a really cool Bond film... NOT!
Superguy15 - 3/20/2013, 4:45 PM
I thought they said it was every 2 years from now on...

I don't wanna wait 4 years for a Bond film again...
