Legendary ALIEN And STAR WARS Sculptor Working On GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Brian Muir, the movie prop sculptor responsible for everything from the Space Jockey to Darth Vader's mask and armour, will be working on Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel Studios and James Gunn. Read on for details on that and the "Star Wars" vibe of the movie.

According to Bleeding Cool, they have learned that Brian Muir, the movie prop sculptor who worked on the Ark of the Covenant for Raiders of the Lost Ark (as well as the iconic props and costumes mentioned in the teaser above and many, many more) is currently hard at work on Guardians of the Galaxy at Pinewood Studios in London. He also worked on Thor: The Dark World. When they asked their sources whether or not he is crafting Star-Lord's mask, they were "given the run around", although they did find out that "there’s something of a Star Wars vibe to the plans for Guardians." This is very good news for the movie, especially if we're going to see the costumes which were featured in the above piece of concept art unveiled at last year's San Diego Comic Con.

Maybe it's just the fever or the [frick]ing NyQuil, or whatever, but..

The thought of Rocket Raccoon runnin' around with Vader's mask stuffed over his [frick]ing head shoutin' obscenities at the top of his lungs through that filtered mouthpiece is the funniest shit I've thought about all day.

.....

Hehe, now I'm gigglin' like a goddamn drunken schoolgirl. 'Least that thought'll cheer me up a little. This [frick]ing cold..

;P

sKeemAn - 3/21/2013, 11:57 AM
Very good news. Can Marvel turn this space movie into a new franchise? It remains to be seen.
brokenexcitement - 3/21/2013, 11:57 AM
LMFAO @ cipher, you're killin me over here with that mental image!

MARVELPSYCHO79 - 3/21/2013, 11:59 AM
I bet he's working on Star-Lord's helmet.I knew GOTG would have a Star Wars vibe. This is a space epic.
MARVELPSYCHO79 - 3/21/2013, 12:03 PM
I also can't wait to see how Star-Lord's Element gun will look.
MARVELPSYCHO79 - 3/21/2013, 12:05 PM
They did say the same thing about Green Lantern but that was DC/WB's movie.GOTG is Marvel Studios.
superotherside - 3/21/2013, 12:08 PM
Sounds great. They better make Star Lord's mask or I'm going to be VERY mad.
ckal - 3/21/2013, 12:10 PM
This GotG crew is seriously missing a guy like Nova. Round out the Star Wars like cast with Nova and it's [frick]ing golden.

And include Adam Warlock =0
DarthGoodGuy - 3/21/2013, 12:18 PM
Hate to be a negative Nancy...buuuuttt...all this "just like "Star Wars" talk reminds me how Green Lantern was touted in the months leading to its release. I just hope the outcome isn't the same.
DioFoRio - 3/21/2013, 12:19 PM
booty poppin on a handstand
DioFoRio - 3/21/2013, 12:19 PM
wonder who is playing thanos?
MARVELPSYCHO79 - 3/21/2013, 12:21 PM
We need some Gamora casting news.I wanna who the actresses are that are in the running for the role.

And @ckal,I hope that Adam Warlock is in this movie.Nova being in GOTG too would be pure sweetness!
WorstUserNameEver - 3/21/2013, 12:22 PM
Nova (or at least the corps) will be in it... otherwise the Nova craft wouldn't be in the top left corner of the GOTG concept art.

Think the GOTG will appear on the Nova corps radar and they will initially suspect them as a threat until the truth comes out and the GOTG and the corps will have to cooperate to take Thanos/The Other/Magus/Warlock down.
MARVELPSYCHO79 - 3/21/2013, 12:26 PM
How can this movie not feel like Star Wars.James Gunn and Marvel have already said that GOTG will spend 95 percent of it's time in space and you will see space creatures. They might just show Peter Quill's origin story taking place on Earth and that's it.I also can't wait to see how they handle Ship too.
marvel72 - 3/21/2013, 12:28 PM
excellent, this movie is gonna be awesome.
MARVELPSYCHO79 - 3/21/2013, 12:29 PM
@WorstUserNameEver I think that is how the Nova Corps will be introduced in GOTG.They'll be hunting the Guardians until they have to joins forces against some evil force or forces.
MARVELPSYCHO79 - 3/21/2013, 12:30 PM
@batz Who is that lovely lady?Is that Gemma Arterton?
SuperCat - 3/21/2013, 12:31 PM
Warner Bros. said the same thing about GL being a space epic. I have high hopes for this one though. Sounds like they're off to a good start with the actors and art department.
DukeAcureds - 3/21/2013, 12:32 PM
Gemma should so be WW.
ACira - 3/21/2013, 12:32 PM
I was hoping this'd have a Star Wars vibe.

I guess we can at least guarantee it'll look great.
ACira - 3/21/2013, 12:34 PM
@ckal Marvel tends to do origins first. You could tell the Guardians' origins in one movie, but Nova would need a separate movie because of the Nova Corps.

It'd be cool to see that movie made. It'd be hilarious to see Marvel make a good Green Lantern movie before WB.
ACira - 3/21/2013, 12:35 PM
@ckal maybe there could be a Nova cameo/post credit scene if we're lucky, hinting at a Phase 3 solo movie?
AlexdoxA - 3/21/2013, 12:36 PM
WOW! "The StarWars of Super Hero Movies"
ElBicho - 3/21/2013, 12:44 PM
Bring this shib on!!!
LordOfTheZegaRealm - 3/21/2013, 12:50 PM
This movie going to be sick.
TheOneAboveAll - 3/21/2013, 12:52 PM
@batz11 Hot damn didly doo...thank you Batz...but damn Jay Leno is a perv...
Splenda - 3/21/2013, 12:52 PM
So... what's Guardians of the Galaxy again? never heard of it
Splenda - 3/21/2013, 12:53 PM
jk, I've seen it in the comics store... just never thought about reading it.
MisterNiceGuy - 3/21/2013, 1:00 PM
lntrn8 - 3/21/2013, 1:00 PM
I want this to be the best GOTG it can be . . . no "SW" feel. Green Lantern tried to promote itself as "Star Wars" of comic books or something like that & it tanked.
thatiscrazy - 3/21/2013, 1:15 PM
First i'm gonna have to thank J Leno for getting ole girl to pop it in that yellow dress. That was an old school pimp move. loves it..... GOTG FTW!
TMW1987 - 3/21/2013, 1:31 PM
If that panel alone between Rocket & Thanos is in a movie (Not necessarily this one), but a possible future GOTG movie & is said word for word, that will be like a half serious / half comedic tone that would be epic & solidify Rocket as both a comedic & serious character.

General audience is gonna eat this up!

The choices being made for people working on this film from casting to director to art department is unparalleled!

Hope it's a huge success.
TheAbomination - 3/21/2013, 1:56 PM
This movie is going to rule!! Fvck all the haters!!
NoAssemblyReqd - 3/21/2013, 2:14 PM
Star-Lord's duds in that concept art are part of what sold me on this movie. I hope they use that look, helmet and all. Maybe they can use an interior helmet view like Iron Man so we can still see Chris Pratt's face when he's wearing it.
Pasto - 3/21/2013, 2:23 PM
Just because GL said it would have a "Star Wars" fell, doesn't at all equate to how well the movie will be. I can say I have Ferrari feel to my honda civi, doesn't at all mean its going to work or act like a ferrari. That being said, if GOTG has a "Star Wars" feel it will probably be handled well. Like a commenter said its being made by Marvel Studios.
EastcoastAvenger - 3/21/2013, 2:33 PM
If Adam Warlock makes it in we can rest assuredly that Infinity Gauntlet will happen. Someday.
TheGodKiller - 3/21/2013, 3:03 PM
This is good news. I hope the movie goes beast and get a billion. I want to see multiple sequels.
ThePowerCosmic - 3/21/2013, 3:25 PM
Batz11

Gemma would be an AMAZING Gamora. She is so fricken gorgeous! Good call!
devil - 3/21/2013, 4:24 PM
holy shit
JohnTom88 - 3/21/2013, 5:15 PM
GL was created by the studio that brought you the Matrix and Cloud Atlas. What you get is brightly colored, post modernist sci-fi which without good story people would find meh and garish. Because the visual magic ain't there, not going to be close to Star Wars.

GOTG on the other hand has the benefit of Lucasfilm and ILM division inside Disney. The chance of getting the same SW feel goes up significantly. But I think the budget will restrain it a bit.

To sum:
GL - WB, Matrix
GOTG - Disney, Lucasfilm and ILM dudes
