Could Morris Chesnut Be In The Running To Play BLACK PANTHER For Marvel Studios?

Pure speculation at this point, but Kick-Ass 2 star Morris Chesnut has revealed that it's time for him to "get familiar" with the Black Panther. Could this be an indication that he's in the running to play the character? Read on for details!

Bleeding Cool has spotted the following Tweet from Morris Chesnut, and it MIGHT just be an indication that he's in the running to play Black Panther! Marvel Studios has been trying to put together a movie featuring the character for a long time now (it was reported last year that they were hoping to make T'Challa part of "Phase 2" in 2014), so it's not exactly hard to imagine that we'll see him featured in The Avengers sequel. Is the Kick-Ass 2 actor reading up on the character because Marvel Studios have approached him about the role? It's certainly a possibility, while the fact he posted a link to a Black Panther comic book featuring him alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes is very intriguing indeed. On the other hand, it could just be that someone told him to check out a few books featuring the King of Wakanda! What do you guys think about this?

Maybe this is his way of getting Marvel to notice him?

Though he looks more fit to play Luke Cage.
seyrie - 4/8/2013, 12:56 PM
Ricky!!!!
jerryblake - 4/8/2013, 12:56 PM
he's 44 right now. Snipes is like six years older.
Superman21 - 4/8/2013, 1:03 PM

gaikinger - 4/8/2013, 1:06 PM

OdinsBeard - 4/8/2013, 1:09 PM

jerryblake - 4/8/2013, 1:09 PM
@Gusto
yeah ... isn't Black Panther supposed to be a white guy ?
I'm mean dude, Batman's black. Hollywood, stick to the source material, God Dammit.
sephiroth211 - 4/8/2013, 1:13 PM

Da hell? No dammit, Aldis Hodge!!

YoungThanos - 4/8/2013, 1:14 PM
Djimon Hounsou would be ideal for Black Panther but Hollywood wants to sell tickets and women love Morris Chestnut. He's a good actor though so if this does become official I prey his African accent it up to par.

(1) Contender for the role (2) Wants to campaign for the role (3) His friends constantly bug him to read comics.

Could be an indication of BP appearing in Avengers 2. If so, maybe that could lead to his own spin-off movie if audiences like the character.
bbarber2323 - 4/8/2013, 1:16 PM
Dudes been working out like crazy lately. He may have the part already...
PiscinaMuerta - 4/8/2013, 1:19 PM
Aldis Hodge, or no one.
113 - 4/8/2013, 1:19 PM
I agree with @Sephiroth211

Aldis Hodge fits Black Panther perfectly. Morris Chestnut could play Luke Cage though, or perhaps with some aged-makeup he could play T'chaka.
soda9 - 4/8/2013, 1:19 PM
Definitely thought of him as Luke Cage or Jon Stewart, but I could definitely see him in the role!

Was hoping Aldis Hodge could be him, but it's alright.

@JasonBourne
said a guy with Jason Bourne nickname and Hulk avatar.

Jerry: High five Jerry !
Jerry: Sure, why not !
KeefNCookies - 4/8/2013, 1:21 PM
I'd prefer the dude from Serenity for BP, this dude for Luke Cage... but specifics aside...

BLACK PANTHERRRR!!!!!!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

They need to make this happen come Phase 3. Its just not fair there hasnt been more happening, I'm thrilled just to even hear any bit of news that its still being worked on and is possible to happen in my lifetime.
JeffreyVeregge - 4/8/2013, 1:22 PM
Didn't' he get capped in Boyz in the Hood? I like Djimon Hounsou, he seems a much better fit.
Swiftsword777 - 4/8/2013, 1:22 PM
Wow I really hope not! he really sucks as an actor! He is A stright to DVD actor if that!
Ocelot - 4/8/2013, 1:22 PM
he's too [frick]ing old to be the black panther, he could play the father though. The character however needs a big retcon to work on screen
VonArndt - 4/8/2013, 1:22 PM
AVENGERS 2!!!!
HipsterAngelusNY - 4/8/2013, 1:22 PM
i would like someone younger in the mid-early 20's and a relatively unkown actor
gambgel - 4/8/2013, 1:24 PM
oh, please, let this be true!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Black Panther is one of the avengers Im more interested in, along with Ant-man, and Ive seen this actor on some shows already, so I would be pleased with this choice.

MARVEK, its time for some Black Panther action! either on Avengers 2 or his own movie
jerryblake - 4/8/2013, 1:24 PM
@jason
just read the comics ... He's white as "I painted my house yesterday, painted it in white colour"
Donekin - 4/8/2013, 1:24 PM
A great character. I don't much care who plays him so long as it stays true to the comics and doesn't get embedded in the larger Avenger movie-verse.
jazzman - 4/8/2013, 1:26 PM
this better no be true. the only actors imo should get the role for Black Panther are Aldis Hodge, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Chadwick Boseman
RetroFit - 4/8/2013, 1:28 PM
I don't like it. Give me Chiwetel Ejiofor as T'Challa and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as T'Chaka. Chesnut is WAY too American looking. And 44 years old.
PeterParker1991 - 4/8/2013, 1:29 PM
Yeah, he could pull it off. Make it happen, Marvel
AlexDeLarge87 - 4/8/2013, 1:29 PM
Time for new blood.

I vote ALDIS HODGE :)
jerryblake - 4/8/2013, 1:29 PM
SNIPES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HelaGood - 4/8/2013, 1:30 PM
i think he would be PERFECT!!!!!
DonaldBlake68 - 4/8/2013, 1:30 PM
Djimon Housou would be perfect.
RetroFit - 4/8/2013, 1:31 PM

6of13 - 4/8/2013, 1:31 PM
I concur with blackandyellow
DonaldBlake68 - 4/8/2013, 1:31 PM
Hounsou*
jerryblake - 4/8/2013, 1:31 PM
ow wait ... Snipes is BLACK. No way :(
mowood28 - 4/8/2013, 1:32 PM
he said "think positive and positive things will happen" he wants it but no indication that he is even on the radar for the role. Hell there is no indication that there is a role
RyGoR - 4/8/2013, 1:32 PM
I can dig it

Truthfully I just want a BP movie already!!!!!
6of13 - 4/8/2013, 1:32 PM
