THE WALKING DEAD's Glen Mazzara Signs Up To Pen THE SHINING Prequel For Warner Bros.

He may have parted ways with AMC over the future direction of The Walking Dead, but former showrunner Glen Mazzara has had no trouble finding a new job as it is now being reported that he is in talks to write The Overlook Hotel for Warner Bros.

Last July, it was reported that Warner Bros. had hired Shutter Island's Laeta Kalogridis to write a prequel to The Shining. However, Deadline now reports that the studio has entered talks with former The Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara to write The Overlook Hotel. This will be a prequel to Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, but won't have any relation to upcoming novel Dr Sleep (a sequel to the original book) and it's thought that Stephen King won't have any involvement with this prequel. Personally, I would prefer to see a faithful adaptation of The Shining rather than a film not based on any of King's work, but what do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!

While I'm not too excited for this, I'm relieved they're smart enough NOT to remake the Shinning.

2 things: this is obviously a money grab response to Bates (as PsyBoy stated) which immediately bores me.

And there was a faithful adaptation of The Shining in TV Movie form. Nobody liked it. Stanley Kubrick may not have been faithful, but his version is one of the most celebrated horror movies ever made.

OH GAWD. This has bad news written all over it. The original is a classic and who cares if it wasn't close to the original, it was a brilliant piece of film making. And yes there are unanswered questions as to what the hell was up with the past of this hotel but it's better not knowing. It's like with the Halloween remake; The more you know about Michael Myers the less scarier he becomes. Not liking this idea.

TV Version with Steven Weber was perfect. Kubrick's version was good too, but it more of his story than King's. I say they should just leave it alone, and wait to make an adaptation of Dr. Sleep. I'm counting the days until that book comes out lol

^^ that was a more faithful adap, and sucked! I prefer Kubrick's movie to the book in every single way but one - he shouldn't have killed off Halloran.

The TV mini-series was a pretty decent adaptation of the book! Hell it only got made cause King wanted one closer to his book.

Well...The original didn't really have much to do with King's book either, but it's probably better to leave well enough alone

The TV version was good, maybe the most faithful adaptation of any of King's work - with a feature film budget it could've been great- but that kid annoyed the hell out of me

The t.v. version wasn't as good as Kubrick's, but it was just a t.v. miniseries afterall. I would love to see an actual movie version that was closer to the novel. Not a prequel to the one from over 30 years ago.

And they got Glenn Mazzara of all people? The guy ruined WD. Terrible choice.

The walking dead season 3 was a joke, a bad one.
He shouldn't be hired for anything.
