Deadline reports that Marvel Studios and Shane Black's critically acclaimed Iron Man Three has gotten off to an incredible start at the international box office with a whopping $36.5 million in just two days of weekday release. According to the site, the threequel has opened up even bigger than The Avengers in countries including Korea, Argentina, Hong Kong, Philippines, Taiwan and Indonesia. However, a $3.6 million opening in the UK meant it was just 9% behind Joss Whedon's superhero ensemble. It's released today in Mexico, Spain, Venezuela, Japan and Brazil, while it finally hits North America next week. Disney also announced today that the threequel has been given a new release dat in China; May 1st. In 2010, Iron Man 2 grossed $100 million during its opening weekend overseas, but it's thought that this instalment will earn upwards of $110 million (more at this rate). With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

@LEVITIKUZ If it makes you feel any better, most of those countries have to wait longer for Man of Steel. (Mine included)

Hollywood marketing ploy.
Release movies in territories that don't know shit about the proper source so they spend the money anyway because its shiny.

Then release it in the U.S. so it gets properly torn apart by the critics and fans alike. Too late by then, they've already made the money from suckers who do not know any better.

Darn it. Is everyone going to get the movie before the United States? I can't believe this movie has made so much in two days in the week. Can't wait to see what the weekend take will be.
Bigred20 - 4/26/2013, 11:12 AM
marvel why are u [frick]ing over all the americans?!

DefcoN - 4/26/2013, 11:14 AM

MarkV - 4/26/2013, 11:22 AM
So tired of the staggered openings. All the spoilers get posted online before it opens in the US.
TOTAL BULLSHIT!
Volgan - 4/26/2013, 11:24 AM
Just seen it today! Brilliant. But I agree it should open everywhere at the same time.
Equivocal - 4/26/2013, 11:25 AM
opening early in other countries mean that there are open opportunities for more cash for any film,

NOT that other countries are more important than others,

geez people, get a grip !!!!
Darantino - 4/26/2013, 11:27 AM
Oh, you poor little americans. I'm gonna call Frau Merkel if we might be able to send you some extra hankies for your many little tears. I'll personally will draw some Iron Man pictures on it. ;D
SageMode - 4/26/2013, 11:28 AM
I'm with everyone here. If there's on thing I hate that Marvel Studios does, it's the lingering release Dae for the US. Just have one release date for all, this way, bootlegging and spoilers won't emerge as much.
thommcg - 4/26/2013, 11:28 AM
Just saw it, rather disappointed, even more so than Iron Man 2.
Gmoney84 - 4/26/2013, 11:57 AM
@thommcg...Your account was created less than 10 days ago. I'm sure your not troll and that I can believe whatever you say!
superotherside - 4/26/2013, 12:08 PM
GothamsKnight to be banned in 3 2 1... :)

Can't wait for this movie! Wish I could see it sooner!
DrCrusader - 4/26/2013, 12:09 PM
Had to travel for abt 3 hours to see it.. it was really good.. the action gave me goosebumps.. Better than IM2 at least.. But not as good as The Avengers or TDKR .. Not so happy abt the twist though..
Sanderman - 4/26/2013, 12:16 PM
Anyone know why the US has to wait so long to see it? I wish they'd just release these movies the same time world wide so I wouldn't have to avoid comments in fear of being spoiled
Fogs - 4/26/2013, 12:22 PM
Tonight, bitches!
kenjim152 - 4/26/2013, 12:23 PM
Sorry to tell u guys but released dates have to do with piracy, most movies that are piratas in theaters come from Russia or the USA, that is why u have been getting last dates lately.
eleven59 - 4/26/2013, 12:32 PM
wait!! Mexico is in north america too... so even they get it before the U.S.... oh and Canada...
JoshWilding - 4/26/2013, 1:15 PM
Why do we get these movies first?

Just sayin'. :)
thorhulk77 - 4/26/2013, 1:18 PM
@cbmyes

Cause you spoiled the whole movie you [frick].
flames809 - 4/26/2013, 1:38 PM
so ironman 3 is just like the dark knight rises with more tony and less ironman... where is the complain of ironman 3 having less ironman? no where besides the dude on top of me i see a lot of hypocrites one this site bashing every dc changes yet no marvel changes like how ya bash tdkr for having less batman while ironman 3 is doing the same of having less tony as ironman.
LexHairFight - 4/26/2013, 1:42 PM
I'm surprised how well it's doing.

I did a little impromptu poll around the office of what movie people are most excited for this summer. Iron Man 3 was pretty near unanimous. There were 2 people who skewed younger who were quick to call out MOS and a couple people were excited for the Great Gatsby, but even people who didn't seem too keen on the Avengers listed this as number one. It's strange considering I work in a financial firm and the majority of these individuals skew 40+.

I retain faith for MOS once the marketing kicks in, but talk about a change. Marvel built this success. No one knew Iron Man 6 years ago.
LexHairFight - 4/26/2013, 1:44 PM
@flames809 -

Perhaps the difference is, Tony Stark has been fleshed out than Bruce Wayne was?
kenjim152 - 4/26/2013, 1:55 PM
@Intrudet so What does IM4 look like to you?? U have been saying it will make a billón usd is that not pretentious?
kenjim152 - 4/26/2013, 1:56 PM
@Intruder *IM3
HughJasol - 4/26/2013, 2:14 PM
I blame the Mongolians!
SageMode - 4/26/2013, 2:21 PM
I see the Nolanite/DC Trollinians are still trying to spoil the movie. They been in full force these past couple of weeks. Smh.
Ceejay - 4/26/2013, 4:24 PM
It was entertaining but had far too much comedy elements that detracted from the drama. The action was spectacular and RDJ was his usual brilliance but I can see a lot of die hard comic fans hating what they did with the villain which for me was quite a clever take to make a statement about terrorism and America. The end credits ran like an 80's tv show and the after credits scene was more for laughs than a lead into the next movie. Will be interesting to see where the take the character next after this finale.

7/10
DoubleD - 4/26/2013, 4:31 PM
flames809 how can you make a comment like that if none of us have even seen the movie. JUMPING THE GUN A LITTLE BIT.
TheBoss117 - 4/26/2013, 4:48 PM
@Ceejay....O_O...If I didn't know any better I'd say you actually liked it! No offense at all bud, but I can't remember the last time I read any actual positive comments from ya.
kenjim152 - 4/26/2013, 6:45 PM
@Intruder for my own Good???? LOL so what? Now read this:

2. Making or marked by an extravagant outward show; ostentatious. See Synonyms at showy.
pre·tentious·ly adv.
pre·tentious·ness n.
Claiming that a movie will make X amount of movie when it hasnt is...... Pretentious either you like it or not now have a Good day sir :)
jimpeachey - 4/26/2013, 11:08 PM
Saw IM3 last night and i really did not enjoy it, lots of Action and RDJ was brilliant but elements of the film really ruined it for me. I cannot believe how these directors take something really powerful from the comics and destroy it in one of 'their' films. I think this will be Iron Mans Spiderman 3. It was OK at best although my wife loved it but then she has no knowledge of the comics and any of the other story lines. For me i was ready to leave midway through the second half of the movie. Ill need to watch it again (when released on DVD) to give it another look but gets about a 5/10 at best for me. Shame as it showed so much promise.
