I get that it will make big bucks, it was the first in the highly anticipated phase 2 flicks and, yeah it was a good movie but personally i don't think it deserves to be in a league anywhere near The Avengers... Just MO

Which lets Marvel know that they can keep playing it safe and cheap with their movies and still get a hefty profit.

even if no Marvel film beats Avatar, all the MCU films added up after Avengers 2 will make it the biggest franchise in history. If the next few phase 2 films make 600million+ and Avengers 2 will defo make over a billion, we're seeing the ultimate franchise

Oh, I see why Killian breathed fire now. Because he's the Mandarin!!! Chinese.....Dragon tattoos.....Dragon.....Dragons breathe fire!!! Oh man, that's hecka smarts guys. Frick comic Manadarin. This here real Mandarin.

Oooh I got an idea. How about Doc Ock is the real spiderman? I mean look, this makes more sense that he's spiderman. He's spiderman because his metal arms make him look like a spider!!! Shoot I should be making comic book movies. How about this one. Hulk should be a green lantern. I mean he's green right. Or how about Wonder woman is actually a guy. Because you can be like, hmmmm I "wonder".....if she's a woman. Damn what a twist!

What a waste of good characters and good concepts. Don´t understand why did this to Mandarin and A.I.M.

All the script is a fail.. Remenber me Daredevil and Elektra movies.

All this box office is because Marvel Studios have done such a great films before IM3. People are going to see this tremendous fail because of that.

I think that for the people who don´t read comics and don´t know about some concept from the Marvel universe this Mandarin twist.. well let´s just say that they
don´t necessarily care about that. But is a shame movie for Marvel Studius. I know that in all the other movies they also did chances and adaptations, but nothing like this..

That´s just my opinion.

Interesting. It's such a cash cow, yet not even worth the money it's making. Avengers certainly nailed the attention and fan dedication.

It amazes me how comic book purists can think this movie is good....

Anyway, I just hope this doesn't make Marvel think they need to inject all subsequent movies with some weak-ass, stupid, M.Night Shyamalamadingdong-"What a twist!"- moment.

FML...

The more I think about the movie the more disappointed I am. I thought that I could live with the mandarin reveal but after sometime I'm angry! The character set up in the early part of the film and all the marketing was interesting. Osama bin Ladin crossed with a rockstar makes for a great evil son of a bitch and it becomes a site gag! Bad move!

The second biggest problem I have with the film is that it doesn't expand the Marvel Universe. We get AIM but where's the rest of the Easter eggs? Where's shield? There's a bunch of international super terrorists running around with no agenda beside screwing around with Tony Stark (an Avenger) there should be some shield representation.

Finally, the epilogue of the film destroys Tony Stark! He has his chest piece removed and his life ending shrapnel taken out. The threat is over, what makes him special is gone:(. The stinger at the end of the credits is a joke! What was once special moment meant to expand the world gets turned into a boring segment.

It's making the money on the backs of several other good Marvel movies. The branding for their product is exceptional based on their track record.

But let's be honest, this was a stinker. This is the worst Marvel product since Phase One began, and it's really not close.

Awful movie.

Lets hope they don't learn the wrong lessons.

And I'm a guy that NEVER complains about these movies.

how the critic's & audience rate the marvel cinematic universe on rotten tomatoes.

critics

1st the avengers 93% 8/10
2nd iron man 93% 7.6/10
3rd captain america the first avenger 79% 7/10
4th iron man 3 78% 7/10
5th thor 77% 6.7/10
6th iron man 2 73% 6.5/10
7th the incredible hulk 67% 6.2/10

audience

1st the avengers 96% 4.6/5
2nd iron man 91% 4.2/5
3rd iron man 3 83% 4.1/5
4th thor 80% 3.9/5
5th iron man 2 80% 3.7/5
6th captain america the first avenger 75% 3.8/5
7th the incredible hulk 75% 3.6/5

so to me it doesn't look like the critic's or the audience think that iron man 3 is a piece of shit,if anything its the incredible hulk personally i would say iron man 2.

its just fan boys that seem to have a problem with it,of course i'm a fan boy & the two things i disliked about it was the mandarin reveal & killian shouting "i am the mandarin".

but i'm fine with the rest of the movie, bring on thor the dark world.

Ok the Mandarin twist p***ed people off but

"Iron Man 3 is well on its way to hitting $650 million by close of business today. As of right now, the international cume for the movie stands at $520.6 million and it has surpassed the total box office of all previous Marvel Studios solo films in just TEN days."

You can't really ignore this. And there may be another Mandarin in the future.

Ironman is now officially Marvel's version of the Transformers franchise. 1 good movie and 2 mediocre movies that raked in tons of crash. Its like this movie was hyped to hell and everyone went to see it. Then after the movie was over we were all like WTF?! did we just watch. To bad you can't get a refund. :(

the people that think its shit are the same guys that prematurely named ben kingsley the best villian ever before the trailer even came out. theyre the same guys who thought wasp/ant-man would make an appearance. theyre the same guys who didnt know what they were getting into with a shane black film. they were doomed the day their assumptions took over. sorry the movie didnt live up to YOUR expectations but that doesnt mean its a shit film. youre just disappointed your fan boy wishes didnt come true.

It IS a good movie. It's just very different from what people were expecting. It also bucked the norm of Marvel's movies. People comlained that IM2 was too much of a slave to setting up the Avengers. Well you can't say that here. This was a movie about Tony Stark as a person. The "I AM Iron Man" bit at the end summed it up nicely. The psychology of Stark also made a lot of sense. Of all the characters in Avengers, Stark was the only one who wasn't a soldier of some sort. Banner becomes a Hulk. That's where his issues get dealt with (metaphorically and literally). Throw in all the supernatural elements, the fate of the world hanging in the balance plus the cumulative effects of the events in IM 1 & 2 and you can see where he might crack up. Then you've got the fact the only armor he's been left with is a prototype that doesn't fully work, JARVIS malfunctioning, and being cut off from everything. Anyways. I thought it was good.

Loved this film. Sure it took liberties but what cbm hasn't?

Also [frick] AVATAR. Now that is an undeserving movie to be on the all time records list. Its basically Pocohontas with Smurfs.

well...haters gonna hate.

mk616s rant is a prime example. marvel has repeatedly said theyre going into this movie as if its a standalone and is more character driven where tony tries to figure out of if the suits own him or does he own the suits. what matters more the suits or pepper? but at the same time to protect pepper he needs his suits...or does he?...

chest piece is taken out to show he doesnt need it anymore. basically saying the tech doesnt make tony iron man. he IS iron man.

how about you actually watch the movie bro

I think I was disappointed like everyone else with the Mandarin twist, but overall I think it was a good movie, a great one in fact. I believe we didn't see too many Easter Eggs and other connecting factors was because this was supposed to be the final movie for Iron Man trilogy. This was about the origins of the Tony Stark story coming to an end.

First movie: I am Iron Man.
Second: Consequences of there being an Iron Man.
Third: An acceptance of being both Tony Stark and Iron Man

He is now truly one in the same, philosophically and literally. Did it have some problems? Was it perfect all the way around? No, what movie ever has? But, I think it did well in giving us an end to his origin story and giving Robert Downey Jr., fans, and all others involved in making this franchise, a well deserved break and intermission.

With it making as much money as it is now, I'm sure we will see Iron Man again, not just in Avengers but somewhere down the road in another solo movie, team up or whatever. I just think we as fan, especially being comic book fans, have come to get a little spoiled and entitled in our belief that every comic book movie has to be The Avengers, Batman Begins, Iron Man (one), Dark Knight, for it to be good. When just 10 years ago we could NEVER EVER imagine having an Avengers movie, a new hard hitting Superman movie on the way, or such widespread enjoyment of comic book movies that will make sure this site is never out of business for very very long time if ever, and that will make sure we will now have a permanent new film genre added to the ranks of Hollywood. Drama, Suspense, Sci Fi, and now, Comic Book Movie (one day anyway, the concept is growing on people).

So be thankful and enjoy! More is to come i'm sure!
