While it was originally set to be released on June 13th, 2014, it has now been confirmed by Universal that Jurassic Park 4 has been pushed back indefinitely. However, as we reported earlier today, it sounds as if Colin Trevorrow is indeed still attached to direct. Read on for details!

Many fans thought that Universal were being a little too optimistic when they set Jurassic Park 4 for a Summer 2014 release (especially as there's still no cast in place), and it looks like that is indeed the case as the studio has today confirmed that the release of the movie has been delayed indefinitely. Earlier today, we told you about the film being put on hold, and it's worth noting that the following statement released by Universal makes no mention of a new release date - it is now slotted in as "TBD" instead. It's highly unlikely that they would be foolish enough to movie to Summer 2015 - a period which looks set to be dominated by Disney's The Avengers 2 and Star Wars Episode VII - so when we will now end up seeing Jurassic Park 4 on the big screen is now unclear.

In coordination with filmmakers, Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal’s beloved franchise. We could not be more excited about the vision that Colin Trevorrow has created for this film, and we look forward to watching as he and the producers create another great chapter in this franchise's storied history.

Meanwhile, Variety mentions that Bryce Dallas Howard and David Oyelowo were front-runners to join the cast. Whether that will still happen is obviously unknown at this point as well. Director Colin Trevorrow is rewriting Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver's screenplay with Derrick Connelly.

Well at least they knew that they jumped the gun on that kind of a release date. If only Fox would follow suit with Fantastic Four.

@Levitikuz

By your logic, I shouldn't criticize murderers because I've never killed anyone. The original version of this article that was posted had two sentences.

good and let it stay that way, would rather them make a new ip or something, rather than to butcher the jurassic park series for a cash grab, make a turok or lost world movie or something and leave the jurassic park series alone

I'm disappointed, but taking their time and not rushing is always the best way to go.

@DrDoom: Your logic is a bit faulty there in your response to Levi. You're not criticizing Josh for committing a review, as I believe you would be in the case of murder, but for the quality of his review. So unless your criticism of a murderer would be something like "Too much gun, not enough knife, and try not to make such a mess next time" you failed to make a point.

Just sayin'

@fettastic: Say! Mind if I ask you a question.

@Godzillafart

I was criticizing him posting an article before it was finished, so I was criticizing his choice to post the article, not really the quality of it. The quality of the two sentences are up for debate, but it wasn't done.

That seems to be quite childish then. It's basically like yelling 'FIRST' and tossing something in the ring just so you can take your time to write an article. I say whoever has a real article done first should get it.

Why wouldn't Universal put out its biggest franchise in 2015 to compete against The Avengers 2,Star Wars and POTC5? They still have to release a slate of movies that year.
