According to The Hollywood Reporter, Li Bingbing has joined the cast of Transformers 4 in what promises to be the first of many announcements in regards to Chinese stars being featured in the movie. The actress - perhaps best known to Western audiences for her role in Resident Evil: Retribution - will be joined by other well-known actors from the country as well as newcomers from a reality TV show competition. This is all part of Paramount's deal to co-produce the movie with China as it means they will ultimately take home far more money from the location which is now the second biggest box office in the world. In 2010, Transformers: Dark of the Moon earned $177.3 million in China and is still their second highest grossing foreign film of all-time. The fourth instalment is set to begin shooting this summer and is set for release on June 27th, 2014.

One day China will eventually ruin Hollywood by forcing them using terrible Chinese actors and stupid product placement...
nikgrid - 5/20/2013, 3:44 AM
[frick] this Chinese co-productions. Marvel should be ashamed of themselves whoring out their movie to sell chocolate milk.
BigChinese - 5/20/2013, 4:00 AM
@ nikgrid Agree! Just that this is not Marvel this time
TonyChu - 5/20/2013, 4:37 AM
She was the only one I could bare in Resident Evil Retribution. And my God that was a horrible movie.
TonyChu - 5/20/2013, 4:39 AM
So China is basically holding these movies hostage unless they get more Asian actors in their movies?
NitPicker - 5/20/2013, 4:40 AM
I'm with nikgrind. Marvel won't see any of my money when this Transformers movie comes out.

good job Bay. we need more chinese people on screen. i'm tired of seeing 99% white casts with the only exception being the token black person.
Hellsing - 5/20/2013, 4:57 AM
How can China ruin something that's already been ruined and I'm not just talking about the Transformers movie but Hollywood in general.

ScabbyJ - 5/20/2013, 5:55 AM
Why not make it a Japanese co-production, since the transformers are... You know what?

Never mind.
Darkknight23 - 5/20/2013, 6:06 AM

I still haven't watched RE: Retribution yet. I'm not exactly in a big rush.

She's a huge step up from Megan Fox.
