VIDEO GAMES: DEAD SPACE Developer Working On Next-Gen STAR WARS Title

There's very few details available as of yet, but EA (who acquired the exclusive licensing rights for Star Wars earlier this month) are now moving ahead with plans for a video game from Dead Space developers Visceral as indicated by a listing for a senior designer.

EA confirmed earlier this month that they had acquired the exclusive licensing rights to develop Star Wars video games for Disney and Lucasfilm, and at the time, they said that Visceral and Battlefield: Bad Company studio DICE would be developing them. However, a listing for a senior designer has now confirmed that the Dead Space team are already hard at work. They specify that the person they're looking for will, "help lead the design and guide a pre-vis team currently in concept phase on a Next-Gen Star Wars title," and refer to, "laying out combat spaces." That's all we know as of right now, but this does confirm that the title will be released on the Playstation 4 and Xbox One next-gen systems. EA previously said that these games would not ship before April 2014, but more details are set to be revealed at this year's E3. Stay tuned to CBM for further details!

@ nicklander - Two Towers was a great game. So was Return of the King.

I like Visceral. 'Dante's Inferno' and the 'Dead Space' franchise are awesome games and I think we can rest assured that they will not disappoint us

Just give us another JEDI KNIGHT (not that FORCE UNLEASHED crap) with HALF-LIFE 2 physics. How has this not happened yet?

To me, EA is only good at making FIFA games...the last EA game I really enjoyed was LOTR:Return of the King. That shit came out over 10 years ago...I don't see this SW game being anything but dogshit.

EA is the worst company in America. I'm still baffled by their acquisition of the franchise. It should've went to Capcom. They at least respect their games and consumers.

Crap. This means that the Dead Space franchise is dead (oh, no pun intended). I still have to finish the third but I'm told it ends with a cliffhanger, I hate it when this sort of thing happens.

@niklander

Yes, both the 007 game and the LOTR games were awesome!

Everything or Nothing was fantastic. Batman Begins tie in game was pretty damn good too, loved it back the day.
Dead Space is a great game too, so no worries.

I want a X-Wing vs Tie Fighter remake, NOW!
Or a X-wing remake, or a Tie Fighter remake, or a sequel.
I want space combat stuff!
That and a new Dark Forces game.
rbfn04 - 5/25/2013, 3:48 PM
@niklander back in the day they made some great sports game too. Not anymore.
mgeoff88 - 5/25/2013, 8:24 PM
Next-gen? I didn't even want to think about the price of Xbox One, because I know it's going to be really expensive.

@niklander Hell Yeah! Everything or Nothing is my favorite James Bond game.

EA is the worst company in America? I'm sorry, but EA being the worst company in the world, means we haven't looked hard enough.
