Talking at the CW's TCA panel today, network boss Mark Pedowitz has confirmed that they are moving ahead with a small screen adaptation of The Flash. Further details on that can be found by clicking HERE, although he did go on to confirm that the series will focus on Barry Allen and that it will indeed be an origin story. However, the character will first make his entrance as a recurring star in Arrow. Pedowitz also told reporters that Amazon has been put on hold as they want to get their interpretation of the character right, while also assuring them that there are no conflicts between the movie and television worlds. Interestingly, The Hollywood Reporter has added in their report that Greg Berlanti is still developing a big screen version of The Flash for a 2016 release. He will apparently direct the movie and write it alongside Chris Brancato, Michael Green, Geoff Johns and Marc Guggenheim. Will these both feature the same actor and version of the character?

the. flash. will. be. in. a. movie

do not worry
DarkGrifter - 7/30/2013, 9:24 AM
I'm okay with this. Out of all the JL characters, The Flash would be the easiest to translate to the small screen. He has no major mythological backstory that requires large amounts of explanation or CGI unlike heroes such as Wonder Woman and Green Lantern.
If they can nail the superspeed then I'm all for it.
MrCBM56 - 7/30/2013, 9:32 AM
Not too happy about this. Flash deserves a movie.
MrCBM56 - 7/30/2013, 9:33 AM

Yes he will be, but what's the point of having him on the show. He and Green Arrow aren't even best friends in the comics. This would make more since if it was Hal Jordan.

And Flash is simply over due a movie.
BruceLeroy - 7/30/2013, 9:40 AM
Eh, I'll watch it.
Malcopunch - 7/30/2013, 9:43 AM
Wally needs to appear in this at some point..
BANEofExistence - 7/30/2013, 9:44 AM
Flash would be a great show because he has so many great rogues they could explore (that with film, they wouldn't have the time)

I would like a Flash film befor the Justice Leauge! I could see Mirror Master as his first villain. Hes an original villain that could easily render the Flash's powers useless in his mirrorverse... Sequel has maybe Captain cold and weather wizard leading to eventual rogues team up with heat wave and professor zoom is a must

btw, Im glad its Barry Allen! He is the ULTIMATE Flash!
marvel72 - 7/30/2013, 9:44 AM
scrap tv show just make movie.
RexDartEskimoSpy - 7/30/2013, 9:47 AM
I wouldn't mind seeing a crime scene tech named Barry Allen pop up on Arrow, but not the Flash. They should stick to their no powers rule. Ollie automatically looks really lame when you put him next to super humans, especially the TV Oliver. Even the real Green Arrow never quite with the Justice League. (JLU handled him excellently, though.)
RexDartEskimoSpy - 7/30/2013, 9:49 AM
Plus Flash on a TV budget? A CW budget? Cheapo effects, cheapo actor, rushed scripts and shooting schedules? Ugh, no thank you.
IM53 - 7/30/2013, 9:57 AM
Barry Allen FTW ! No disrespect Wally fans but it's gotta be Barry
IM53 - 7/30/2013, 9:57 AM
Sorry Levi Goyer has had a run but I want new blood
MrEko - 7/30/2013, 9:59 AM
So there's gonna be a Flash TV show AND movie, with two different actors, written by the same people who worked on Arrow, Smallville & Green Lantern? Got it.... now where do I sign up as a marvelite.
TheManFromLolliLand - 7/30/2013, 10:00 AM
@levitikuz also the same writers from 'Arrow' which is probably on of the best Dc shows since B:TAS.
CaptainAmerica31 - 7/30/2013, 10:00 AM
Greg bertalini is going to direct? He better not
CherryBomb - 7/30/2013, 10:00 AM
No one under 50 should be called Barry....
jaysin420 - 7/30/2013, 10:01 AM
How are they going to have the Flash on Arrow when that show has no superpowers?

Is he going to be a track runner?
JoeMomma29 - 7/30/2013, 10:01 AM
Sounds great!
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 7/30/2013, 10:02 AM
At least they know to use Barry.
JoeMomma29 - 7/30/2013, 10:02 AM
@ JaySin420

Sounds like Arrow will start moving in the direction where characters will have powers.
CaptainAmerica31 - 7/30/2013, 10:03 AM
OMFG he wrote GL
IM53 - 7/30/2013, 10:03 AM
Cherry one under 50 should be called Neil. ;)
dnno1 - 7/30/2013, 10:04 AM
@Spidey31, just like "Green lantern", 2011, Berlanti is just a place holder. Once the film gets through development, they will probably announce another director. I only wish people would bid on this.
GuardianAngel - 7/30/2013, 10:04 AM

I really don't think the Flash can take on his own movie unless it's handled properly. And I have a feeling this will be rushed (Just like most of DC's last films)
ForeverPowerful - 7/30/2013, 10:06 AM
[frick] TV!!!!!

Is there no organization for these characters at all!!??
TheAbaryMan369 - 7/30/2013, 10:07 AM
Um... okay? They should just stick to the movie and have another character in a show.
ralfinader - 7/30/2013, 10:07 AM
@TonyJoel - El sucko esta schlongo.

And seriously...If the Flash is in Star...ling City, Arrow can retire. Who needs a bow and arrow when the fastest man alive is on the scene? By the way, will Flash be from Centralling City?
TepidShark - 7/30/2013, 10:07 AM
I am not familiar with alot of this guy's work, but Political Animals isn't very good and from hearing about it from other people most of his other work isn't very good either.
GliderMan - 7/30/2013, 10:08 AM
If they were smart they'd use the Riddler as a villain too. Oh well, maybe season 3.
Omarvls - 7/30/2013, 10:09 AM

Dr. Strange vs The Flash

That is a tough one to call
If I was betting I think I would say
Dr. Strange by a couple of millions
dave116 - 7/30/2013, 10:09 AM
Thegeekygurl - 7/30/2013, 10:14 AM
So Arrow is going to throw its Season one world out the window and have super-powers.
Arrow has been better than Iron Man 3, MOS and The Wolverine. I wish they left super-duper-powers out of it.
Omarvls - 7/30/2013, 10:14 AM
Marvel the way they do business I would not doubt it if
QuickSilver will have a BIG part in Age Of Ultron so when regular fans go watch The Flash they will go
"Was he not in The Avengers 2 Already?"
hush - 7/30/2013, 10:14 AM
Original league, original Flash. I love Wally, but it has to be Barry.

This is a very interesting development.
JoeMomma29 - 7/30/2013, 10:17 AM
@ Gusto

Logan276 - 7/30/2013, 10:21 AM
I had a feeling Arrow would introduce superpowers once they seen how Man of Steel had superpowers in a "grounded reality".

Also I don't think slow/fast motion CGI would be the most expensive effects, so I'm sure they could make it work on a CW budget.
JoeMomma29 - 7/30/2013, 10:22 AM
Let us lighten up the mood a little bit!

Jhuntdaprodigy - 7/30/2013, 10:22 AM
Did you people not read the article? It said there will be a Flash TV Show, and then a movie made by the same creators of the show. Explain to me why they would get the same people who produce the show, to create a different version of the character on the big screen. The show is confirmed, the movie part could be a rumor, but I hope it's not. Think about it guys, The Flash is way easier to adapt to the small screen. None of the rouges are good enough villains to appear in a 2 hour film. Grodd has potential, but they might not want to take their chances with a talking psychic gorilla. The only villain Flash has that could translate to a film is Zoom, and he shouldn't be in the origin story. Having a TV show explain his origin, and lay the groundwork for a feature film with Zoom is the best move. Plus, with Flash & Arrow already introduced in TV Shows, Supeman & Batman already introduced in movies. That makes bringing the Justice League together a lot easier. That's 4 heroes already introduced beforehand. If they're using 7 like usual, then Lantern and Wonder Woman are must haves. So that would leave either Manhunter or Aquaman for the 7th member. Whoever isn't featured could always be added in a sequel, but Aquaman is the one with franchise potential. And maybe some of these other characters will have cameos in Superman/Batman or The Flash show.
FilmsFan - 7/30/2013, 10:22 AM
All those who are screaming FLASH DESERVES A MOVIE!!

Well even Superman & Batman first got TV-shows (very successful ones) & then they moved into movies!

Let them test waters with Tv show, he'll be in a movie!
WB has no other choice!
They'll make his stand alone film & then put him in JL!
jcfrommars9 - 7/30/2013, 10:24 AM
As long as they're making a Flash movie, I don't give a damn.
