UPDATE: Christopher McQuarrie Seemingly Confirms That He Will Direct MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 5

Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce has already been brought on board to pen the screenplay, and now rumoured directing candidate Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher) has seemingly confirmed that he will indeed helm Mission Impossible 5. Check it out! Now confirmed by Tom Cruise!

Earlier this year it was revealed that Tom Cruise had closed a deal with Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions to star in a fifth instalment of Mission Impossible. At the time, Jack Reacher writer and director Christopher McQuarrie was said to be in talks to helm the movie, although this was never confirmed (despite the fact that it was later reported that Drew Pearce had been brought onboard to write the movie. Well, the following Tweet seems to confirm that McQuarrie has accepted the job and will indeed direct Cruise in another instalment of the popular franchise. If this is the case, expect an official announcement to follow shortly. What do you think?

Epic. Mission Impossible is one of the only series that didn't get the threequel curse, and haven't really died out. One of the best franchises out there. Hoping for a 2015 release!

2015 has enough movies for me, plus we should get James Bond 24 at the end of the year, same date Mission Five could open.

@brazilianbatman: Marvel already has two films dated for 2016, and Amazing Spider-Man 3 is scheduled for that year as well. But yeah, that'd be a good year for MI5. Loved Ghost Protocol, so I'm excited for this one.

I hope M:I 5 ties in neatly with 3 and 4. Bringing back Michael Giacchino for the score would help to cement the three movies as sort of a trilogy.

Chris McQuarrie is one hell of a writer-director, after he made Way of The Gun I was a fan for life and it remains one of my all time favorite movies. Definitively looking forward to his stint on the franchise.

I don't need all my movies to be so goddamn melodramatic. I swear to god, Nolan doesn't have a single light hearted bone in his body. He does what he does very well, but we don't need that shit in the Mission Impossible franchise.

Agree with everyone, Ghost Protocol was really well done. All the Mission Impossible movies are really well done. MI:2 is the weakest one imo and even that was a great action flick.

Hope the 5th installent keeps the streak going.....

....and can I get a damn answer on just what in the hell the "Rabbits Foot" was!!!

Seems everyone forgot McQuarrie's greatest movie of all time...The Usual Suspects. His screenplay, Bryan Singer directing. If you haven't seen it, highly, highly recommended. And yes, Jack Reacher is very under-rated. Very good movie.
