Well, rather than a slapstick comedy, it appears as if Universal's latest reboot of The Mummy franchise will actually be a horror this time around as The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the studio are circling a deal with Andres Muschietti to direct. He replaces Total Recall director Len Wiseman who walked away from the project back in July. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are producing the movie along with Sean Daniels. All we know about the Jon Spaihts (Prometheus scripted reboot is that it will be set in the present day. Muschietti found great success with Mama - which starred Jessica Chastain and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau - as it would go on to earn $146 million on a budget of only $15 million.
