Following the initial ratings success of Marvel Television’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” airing on ABC, Marvel Entertainment, LLC has launched the first wave of official licensed merchandise inspired by the series co-created by Marvel’s The Avengers director Joss Whedon. To meet fan demand, Marvel has unveiled a range of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” consumer products including T-shirts, accessories, and posters which are immediately available for purchase at ABC.com, Marvel.com, Hot Topic and other specialty retailers.

“The breakout success of our new primetime ABC series further underscores the unmatched affinity that fans have for the Marvel brand,” said Paul Gitter, senior vice president, licensing, Marvel at Disney Consumer Products. “This new consumer products line will give fans a great jumping off point to enjoy the new series and to extend their passion for Agent Coulson and the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization.”

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” opened a strong No. 1 in the time period with Adults 18-49 (4.6/14), defeating NBC’s Tuesday premiere of “The Voice” by 15% (4.0/12) and CBS’ season premiere of “NCIS” by 35% (3.4/10), to qualify as TV’s highest rated drama debut in nearly 4 years. It was also Tuesday’s No. 1 TV show in Adults 18-49 (tie) and across all key Men demographics (M18-34/M18-49/M25-54).

The series stars Clark Gregg reprising his role as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward, Chloe Bennet as Skye, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz and Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons. This dynamic, action-packed one-hour drama brings back Agent Phil Coulson to lead a team of highly skilled agents with one mission: to investigate the new, the strange and the unknown around the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary.

Marking Marvel Television’s first live action television production, the series was co-created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen ("Dollhouse," "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog"), who also serve as executive producers along with Jeph Loeb ("Smallville," "Lost," "Heroes") and Jeffrey Bell ("Angel," "Alias"). "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

Tie-in comics?

Maybe I'll pick up a shirt. I think it would be weird to have Coulson staring at me trying to poke the missus so no poster.

Anyone else really not like the pilot? I'm not trolling, I'm just shocked it was met with so much praise. I felt pretty underwhelmed.

I thought it did a good job introducing everything it needed to in a pilot episode. It wasn't spectacular but it served it's purpose. It has potential.

If you didn't like it, it was probably because you are too much of a fan and had definite expectations. If you just let it wash over you, like most of the GA, then you could sit back and enjoy it with no preconceived notions of what it should be.

Just try to enjoy it from now on. Don't bring expectations into it.

Those numbers are huge. The 18-45 is huge. Makes me laugh when people say Marvel is just for kids. Ironically it's kids who tend to say this.

Pilots are like demo tapes to execs. It's just supposed to be a watered down taste of what the show could be. Anyway, I like the show, especially for a pilot.

Typical Disney... Iron Man 3 and this show made it's money off the hype of The Avengers and advertisement. The was a dull comedy...

This is all I'm gonna to say about the subject, as I see it all the time so I'm gonna address it one final time. Her than I'm done acknowledging it.

Comedic elements and moments do NOT make something a comedy.star Wars, Raiders of the lost ark and the first Superman for example had humor, but nobody would have been silly enough to call it a comedy.

Animal House was a comedy.

Anyone calling Avengers, Ironman 3 or even this show a comedy doesn't know what the hell a comedy is and is either too damn young, or they simply don't know any better.

The show is on par with shows like Castle & Bones. I love the tie in to Iron Man 3 and can't wait to see more.

As far as merchandise, Coulson's flying car would be one hell of a toy!

Made my own custom SHIELD polo shirt, can't wait to see what official merch they come up with. A SHIELD mug for my office would be nice.

Most badass show on TV?
Lolwut.
Breaking Bad shits on AoS. It's the greatest show on TV. But I bet you only think AoS is the most badass show on TV because it's Marvel.
As for the show itself, it was a somewhat disappointing pilot. Maybe it's because I was too hyped for it
