Great news, especially internationally where I think Thor will always have the bigger audience.

Not a big Thor fan but Marvel is brilliant and basically makes all these movies connected so I have to see it. I thought it would do more it doesn't look like it will hit 300 million domestically or 700 million world wide.

So now if a movie can barely reach 500 MUSD world wide is a block buster, but if it makes more than that it is a disapointment right?, not to forget that this movie is making less than all predictions :/, that is really sad since THOR was a great movie.

Doing slightly worse than I would have expected... maybe the cameo should have been RDJ's Ironman rather that Cap.

good news for Marvel, and for Thor fans.

On other hand, Im sure the movie (and all Thor movies) would much much more if the quality was better.

But if Marvel is happy, ok.

I like Loki but doing a solo Loki film is the last thing I want Marvel to do I would rather them work on other properties. Do you guys think a solo Loki film would do well?

i saw thor again in 3d this time so i could see the cap 2 preview, the cap 2 preview was awesome,i loved the elevator scene, anyway i enjoyed thor more then the first time i saw it, the comedy is actually not that much, its pretty balanced but after lokis death, they should have lessened it, the humor on earth does fall flat for me except the thor fish out of water humor,i quite enjoyed that. the humor is a big part of marvel comics ex,hawkeye and superior foes of spider man ,two books that are quite popular.

The earth scenes arent needed after jane leaves, the selvig scene where he explaining the convergence isnt needed because the convergence was already explained TWICE before but we wouldnt have that great stan lee cameo, her getting selvig wasnt needed but selvigs line about the world being crazy was good imo, selvigs humor i quite enjoyed ,the interns girlish squeal i enjoyed but the darcy humor fell flat for me, they still could have used that or added scenes about malekith and the dynamics of thor, frigga etc. that is my only complaint

You could definitely see they wanted something to do with the sif /janes and thor love triangle but due to jaimie alexanders injury and them losing shooting days, they couldnt, the thing is the film is a setup film but for the most part it feels standalone which is good, i loved the change in thor from the first film and them showing that, in this he planned everything while in the first one he would have just rushed into it,i can understand if the humor undercutting the drama can ruin it for some people but it didnt for me personally,it did bother me a little but what can you do? otherwise quite a good film imo

The Mid credits scene,i still enjoyed it and i tried to look around the collectors"workshop" as much as i could,i noticed a species that looked quite similar to how glenn close nova prime looks,i noticed a cocoon that looks like adam warlocks cocoon i also noticed some things in the back,i thought the makeup on the girl was cool and i noticed some scars she had under her eyes ,it didnt look fake to and the cheapness could have been because they got the script that moring and shot it two hours not that long ago and james gunn was near done with guardians so they had taken down most of the sets so they could only use that hallway,i thought the collector was eccentic, creepy ,odd etc, exactly as how i thought he should be, it lloked cheap because it looks like he experiments alot andhe builds alot and kind of puts things together, it also had an air of creepiness expecially whenthey showed the blue looking alien with ther mouth sewed up,i think that scene and guardians might not appeal to everybodys tastes,it might be too out there and weird for people but i think you could have said that about star wars ,star trek and doctor who, those things have weird elements too but what made them so great to so many people were the characters and the world and aslong as those things work which james gunn has said that he wants the movie to be as unique as possible but help ground it with interesting ,relatable characters and in the collector scene you dont get that so people cant attach to anything in that scene because there, everything feels so alien and weird and kevin feige knows that .he has said he expects that kind of reaction from people of being like"what the hell is this",this was just meant to give us a glimpse of the world in guardians and it did its job imo

This is really good. The movie will easily reach $500.00 million worldwide. The question now is whether it will reach the $650.00 mark.

Only rabid fanboys thought this movie would make a billioni dollars. I'm not sure any studio exec or reasonable person thought that.

My main problem with Thor is that it keeps coming to earth. Thor needs to stick with a LotR theme and stay away from earth. Bring Thor back to earth only for the Avengers. The Asgardian, non earth stuff, was the best part of T:TDW.

3.Iron Man 3
2.Man of Steel
1.The Wolverine

@ ezio619

I know I may be asking for trouble but here's my ranking:

1) MOS - 9 stars out of 10 (9 only because I felt Lois was annoying)

2) Thor - 8

3) Kick-Ass - 7

4) IM3 - 3 (sorry, wasn't felling it)
ParisSun
ParisSun - 11/17/2013, 8:35 AM
Also, don't know why people think that just because Hunger games is coming out, Thor will get $0.00 at the box office. Thor will run in theaters for the next month or so. It will get a bump from Thanksgiving and Christmas. So Thor will be in the $500 range by next weekend and has a month to get to $600.00 million. That's great for a hero movie that is not a summer movie.

Brainiac13 - 11/17/2013, 8:36 AM

Very few people were on here saying it would make a billion $. It's doing about what I expected it would. For a November release, it is doing just fine. It had its flaws, but it was a solid film and we will get a third one. All is well.

@gambgel

On other hand, Im sure the movie (and all Thor movies) would much much more if the quality was better.

The first Thor wasn't expected by most to do better than the Incredible Hulk because Thor was considered an unknown character being portrayed by an unknown actor. Basically, the same reasoning you'll read from others about Guardians of the Galaxy. We saw how that turned out.

Thor: The Dark World in less than three weeks has outgrossed the first Thor's entire run while being released in less theaters in the fall and is now Marvel's third most successful international box office behind only Iron Man 3 and The Avengers. In short, it is already doing much, much more.

braniac-what would u give the big 4 superhero films of this year out of 10?
RRA
RRA - 11/17/2013, 8:40 AM
These days for these big front-loaded blockbuster spectacles, 55% drop on 2nd weekend is actually considered usually OK. It's not GRAVITY-phenomenal holding, but few films do.

I've said it before, but TDW reaching $600 million would be phenomenal. Even not beating MOS, just being the same ballpark as Superman (arguably DC's top or second-best draw) would be an achievement for a character like Thor that traditionally among Marvel heroes always has been middling-known at best (not including The Avengers), and far behind Spider-Man and Fantastic Four and X-Men and Hulk and so forth. Marvel took Iron Man and now everybody knows Tony Stark. They took Thor and now everybody knows Thor Odinson.

The real question for me is next spring: will WINTER SOLDIER continue the Avengers bump trend?

ParisSun - A billion was never in the cards for TDW. If not for Hunger Games, I could see TDW doing 600 million but with HG taking away alot of those IMAX screens...who knows? We'll see.

MAC@ it's not the fact that some are saying the Hunger Games will take over the number one spot. That goes without saying. It's the motivation behind bringing it up and some of them are doing it just to antagonize. Been around the block enough here since the crowd has gone downhill to recognize that. ;-)

Watered down movie. Sooooo much material from the comics to pull from, yet they bring in "the intern" that has almost as much screen time as the Villain. I dont understand how ANY of you "comic book" fans can find this acceptable? Why cant we have an epic fantasy adventure? Why does Darcy, Jane, Selvig, and the intern have so much screen time? Did anyone ask for this? The answer is NO. Too much Earth time, too much Darcy, too much Intern.. Not enough Thor, Villain, Warriors 3, Asrgard...etc..etc. Shame on you fan boys for putting this at the top of your CBM list for the year.
