Jamie Foxx was forced to pass on a role in David Yates' take on Tarzan, so the studio have now turned to Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers). Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained) is also still in talks, while Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street remains Warner Bros.' top choice to play Jane.

Variety reports that Samuel L. Jackson is now in talks to co-star with Alexander Skarsgard in Warner Bros.' upcoming Tarzan reboot. Christoph Waltz is also likely to take on a role, while the site adds that, "Plot details are still vague on how this version will be interpreted." What we do know is that it will be directed by Harry Potter helmer David Yates, and Jackson entering the fray apparently, "comes as good news for a project that has been fighting for a greenlight for sometime now. A week before the Thanksgiving holiday, studio execs viewed a five minute pre-viz video Yates and his team created to explain how the film could turn out." While the delay may seem like a bad thing, it's proven to be the opposite as Jackson was originally forced to pass on a role he's shown interest in since day one. That's what prompted them to turn to Jamie Foxx, but the delay did mean he had to pass. Sources also tell Variety that The Wolf of Wall Street actress Margot Robbie is the top choice to play Jane, but an offer is not yet in place. What do you guys think?

Wait... Samuel L. Jackson? Christoph Waltz? And a remarkable up-and-coming actress no one has heard of yet?

Is Tarantino directing this?

no way they make a black tarzan
Sam L. Jackson is in almost in every big franchise now. Starwars, Marvel, Robocop, Die Hard, Tarantinoverse, Jurassic Park, and a few others.

Waltz would make a good Nicholas Rokoff. Hoping they make this a period piece and stay faithful to the source material. It's been almost 100 years since the first Tarzan movie and there has yet to be a faithful adaptation Greystoke came close but lacked any real action or adventure.

I'll watch it. I still think it's bizarre with all these Tarzan films being developed.

I hope they do Tarzan in it's proper time period. FAR more interesting in the Colonial era, where Africa is this great mystery.

As for Margot Robbie...WOWZA! I think we've found another awesome choice for Ms. Marvel! Those legs!
