Third Full-Length Trailer For 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE Released

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have released a third action-packed - containing plenty of new footage - for the follow-up to Zack Snyder's critically acclaimed 300 (this time directed by Noam Murro, with a script from Snyder and Kurt Johnstad), 300: Rise of an Empire.

Follow Josh:
By Josh Wilding - 1/20/2014

After its victory over Leonidas' 300, the Persian Army under the command of Xerxes marches south towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes' army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land.

STARRING:

Sullivan Stapleton as Themistocles
Eva Green as Artemisia
Lena Headey as Queen Gorgo of Sparta
Rodrigo Santoro as King Xerxes
Hans Matheson as Aeskylos
Andrew Pleavin as Daxos
Callan Mulvey as Scyllias
David Wenham as Dilios
Jack O'Connell as Calisto
Andrew Tiernan as Ephialtes
Yigal Naor as Darius

"Critically acclaimed 300"

LMAO, nothing Synder does is anywhere near critically acclaimed. smh
Nomis - 1/20/2014, 10:12 AM
Was that "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath playing in the background?

That's actually an Anti-war song.
cipher - 1/20/2014, 10:12 AM
Yeah, so.. I'm totally not hungover. Why am I not hungover?

What kind of a f*ckin' way to start a day is that? F*ck equilibrium, it's overrated. Who needs balance when you can just dunk your head in ice-cold water and call it a morning.
SpiderFraud - 1/20/2014, 10:13 AM
@Dev7

If I'm not mistaken 300 was critically acclaimed when it came out. I do feel this one is going too be a flop because who really cares anymore?
Isra - 1/20/2014, 10:17 AM
Meh...

Let me say it again.

Meh...
Custer28 - 1/20/2014, 10:21 AM
nothing from Marvel studios was critically acclaimed, has never won an Oscar, and has made 8 movies.
JosephKing - 1/20/2014, 10:27 AM
Although I'm still "meh" about the movie, I have to admit that these trailers are pretty cool. Actually, now I'm looking forward to some elements that are hinted in the trailers, like Xerxes' backstory and the role of women in the movie. Well done, marketing guys, well done.
santoanderson - 1/20/2014, 10:28 AM
I feel like 300 got parodied to death, and the slow-mo, everything's a blue screen matte-painting aesthetic that was utilized in the first film has fallen out of style, and is now simply a sign of a lazy filmmaker.

They waited too long to make a sequel, and now nobody cares.
HulkDraxGroot - 1/20/2014, 10:30 AM
hardly any new footage.
Bartimus82 - 1/20/2014, 10:32 AM
300 was good, this is i quote Isra,,,meh!
ALmazing - 1/20/2014, 10:32 AM
I don't know how relevant this is, I mean 9 years ago anything based on Miller's work were pretty hot properties, 300 was deemed visionary and Sin City had just came out the year before and it was pretty ground breaking at the time. Does anyone really care about 300 and Sin City sequels at this point? Even with the name Snyder attach to it, in spite of MoS success, he alone doesn't draw people in theaters.
SauronsBANE - 1/20/2014, 10:33 AM
santoanderson hit the nail right on the head. EVERYONE has copied what used to be the unique visuals and aesthetics of 300. It's been done to death, and now they expect us to have the same reaction to the sequel as we did with the 1st one? They're wayyyy too late. There's nothing unique about it anymore. And unfortunately, the visuals are pretty much the only thing going for it.
DestinyAboveUs - 1/20/2014, 10:35 AM
Everytime I look at something 300 RoaE footage, I'm constantly reminded how Eva Green should've been Wonder Woman...
cipher - 1/20/2014, 10:44 AM
Well, 'least you got off to a good start. I need to start making up for the lack of a pounding headache.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 1/20/2014, 10:46 AM
So I guess they are completely ignoring the ending of the first film with Dilios? I much rather see that story than this shit.
ALmazing - 1/20/2014, 10:47 AM
@DestinyAboveUs-That's crazy talk, WW needs to be played by a tall, exotic model that has little acting experience, its the only reasonable way to go.
Natetrix79 - 1/20/2014, 10:58 AM
Some of you may not care but some of us do wanna see this. Some people like a good "Sword & Sandel" movie. If it wasn't for Troy & 300 we wouldn't have gotten Spartacus & Game of Thrones done right & not water down to some PG-13 crapfest so calm down haters you never know the movie might actually be good.
Kyos - 1/20/2014, 10:59 AM
I stronlgy disliked the first one when I watched it on the big screen, but it became something of a guilty pleasure for me. Not really interested in this weird sequel, although I will likely watch it at some point when it's out on Blu-ray.
Super12 - 1/20/2014, 11:04 AM
This looks awesome. Style of 300 but on a bigger scale, love it. Definitely seeing this in theaters.
DefcoN - 1/20/2014, 11:10 AM
@1to10youLose Emmm... no.
Boyle360 - 1/20/2014, 11:22 AM
Visually, this film looks amazing. I'd be surprised if it's actually any good though. And that's a LOT of slow motion.
SuperCat - 1/20/2014, 11:25 AM
I can't wait to see this on TBS!
Ranger14 - 1/20/2014, 11:26 AM
I pretty much agree with @santoanderson

I smell a troll trying to take another discussion off track.
SuperSomething616 - 1/20/2014, 11:32 AM
Meh...
HeadPool420 - 1/20/2014, 11:53 AM
Was that a music video or a trailer?
RichardHedski - 1/20/2014, 12:08 PM
I don't know. At least Hack Snyder isn't directed it but it still looks like he did with all that slo-mo crap that ruined 300 and Watchmen.
FOOM - 1/20/2014, 12:13 PM
I like what I see. Not sure what it will do in the box office though.300 should have had bigger numbers but fools didn't get that either.
GodzillaKart - 1/20/2014, 12:27 PM
300 was generally considered technically successful in regards to the visual effects, but terrible and juvenile in terms of the "drama".
MrNiklander - 1/20/2014, 12:37 PM
Really folks you gonna hate on 300!?!Ok trailer looked awesomesauce at least this one will deliver what it promises a loosely historic adventure unlike **cough THOR THE DARK WORLD cough**
marvel72 - 1/20/2014, 12:38 PM
third trailer for this,i need just one for guardians of the galaxy.
Fortress - 1/20/2014, 12:40 PM
I LOVED THE FIRST FILM!

IT WONT COME CLOSE TO THAT, BUT IM SURE IT WILL BE VERY ENTERTAINING
Ranger14 - 1/20/2014, 12:43 PM
niklander@ What does Thor TDW have anything to do with this?
MrNiklander - 1/20/2014, 12:45 PM
@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 As I live in Greece and beign taught it's history the battle of Artemisium was afterwards the fall of 300 Spartans and 700 Thespians. The last battle we saw at the end of 300 with Dillios is actually the battle of Plataea where Xerxes and his Persian army was stopped and defeated. It was actually where a Spartan warrior killed Xerxes. So do yourself a favor and before you comment read a history book wouldn't hurt your brain
GodzillaKart - 1/20/2014, 12:47 PM
@niklander: Yes, I'm going to hate on that steaming pile of gorilla shit. 300 was garbage...and somehow this probably be even worse.
MrNiklander - 1/20/2014, 12:47 PM
@Ranger14 I am saying that the trailer and it might actually deliver us a solid film unlike Thor:The DARK World which delivered a semi dissapointing movie
pesmerga44 - 1/20/2014, 12:47 PM
@niklander

No idea what you are talking about the Thor trailers never hid scenes of them on Earth. They showcased scenes of Malekith attacking Earth and Thor on Earth the way you make it sound none of trailers ever showcased Earth and were purely on Asgard or another of the nine realms.

Lastly "loosely" is a strong term for 300 because beyond there being Greeks vs Persians that is about as historically accurate the movies get.
MrNiklander - 1/20/2014, 12:48 PM
@Godzillafart for you and your hating on 300
File:Squidward Meme - Nobody Cares.png
Ranger14 - 1/20/2014, 12:53 PM
niklander@ All a matter of opinion, but I don't know why this type of film needs to be even compared to Thor TDW. I thought Thor TDW was pretty solid and it wasn't suppose to be a "historic adventure" film. Different strokes.
MrNiklander - 1/20/2014, 12:56 PM
@pesmerga44 Dont get me wrong I dont mean to start anything which will take like 10 pages to resolve the matter it just pisses me off that any trailer MARVEL releases gets a hell of a praise like it should won 10 different awards while we have the new trailer for 300:Rise of an empire and half of the guys here are taking a shit on it.
MrNiklander - 1/20/2014, 12:57 PM
@Ranger14 I was just trying to get on Godzillafart's nerves no worries I know it's different strokes
