After its victory over Leonidas' 300, the Persian Army under the command of Xerxes marches south towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes' army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land.

STARRING:

Sullivan Stapleton as Themistocles
Eva Green as Artemisia
Lena Headey as Queen Gorgo of Sparta
Rodrigo Santoro as King Xerxes
Hans Matheson as Aeskylos

Callan Mulvey as Scyllias

With movies like 300, The Hobbit, and others, I can't even imagine having to act so much in front of a blank green screen. Sir Ian McKellen has gone on record saying how tough it is to constantly pretend to interact with people who aren't even there and then imagine their reactions and react based off of that. It just sounds so tedious and boring. I'd imagine the paycheck at the end makes it all worth it though...

300 is one goofy show.

I loved 300. Visually stunning, and the actors were all spot on.

That being said...

I will see this movie, and I will likely enjoy it. But it's going to flop. There are not enough connections to the original for the GA to care about it. And the visual style isn't new and exciting anymore. And with Snyder not directing, that will scare some people away, thinking that he didn't want the project.

But I hope I'm wrong.

@Duke: Mr. Peabody & Sherman is going to crush 300.

@1to10: "it cant get dated for its a period piece"

It is the look of 300 that is so incredibly dated now. It's a film that is a clear example of style over substance...and the style is very dated.

I'm all for the occasional guilty pleasure viewing...especially when hungover. I can even watch a transformers flick if I'm really hurting...but 300 was just too dumb for me to even consider seeing the sequel.

@DukeNukem: Yes, that was a joke. :)

@1to10: I can totally understand someone saying "Look, of course 300 is crap...but it's fun, mindless crap".

I don't agree, but I could understand that. To actually argue that it was a good film makes no sense whatsoever.
