Deadline reports that former Mad Men executive producers Andre and Maria Jacquemetton have teamed up with Gravity producer David Heyman for a new drama series based on the DC comic book DMZ at Syfy. According to the site, it's "set in the near future and centers on a young man trapped in Manhattan, which has been turned into a demilitarized zone (DMZ) after a second American civil war." The husband and wife duo have written the pilot. The Vertigo comic book series ran for a total of 72 issues between 2005 and 2012. It sounds like an intriguing premise, and with such a quality team behind it (David Heyman will produce), it's definitely another reason to be excited about DC's television takeover! How do you guys feel about this news?

Well this should be interesting. Though I never read this series I hope it will be good. I personally would like to see the Korean DMZ tv show. That would really be interesting.
MexicanChinman - 2/5/2014, 1:58 PM
I hope all the upcoming cb shows from both Marvel and DC are great.
Pasto - 2/5/2014, 1:58 PM
SyFy channel has an AWESOME show called Helix. I suggest you check it out before discrediting them.

Super12 - 2/5/2014, 2:03 PM
@Pasto don't forget Flash
TonyChu - 2/5/2014, 2:04 PM
Intresting! And much like CW, don't try to play off the ScyFy channel because they have some great shows such as Being Human and Helix.
Ignition - 2/5/2014, 2:05 PM
+ Preacher and iZombie.
Nomis - 2/5/2014, 2:06 PM
YES! I've always said this would make a good TV series!

ButI wish it would be on HBO instead of Syfy.
NostalgicYouth - 2/5/2014, 2:08 PM
Yes, I actually own three of the DMZ books, so I am really excited to see how its interpreted on screen.
robvillain - 2/5/2014, 2:08 PM
Nice, though I would have liked to see it on something like HBO. One of the best comic series I've read. Wilson for the win.
blkchi - 2/5/2014, 2:20 PM
Sci fi channel gets hate because of their crappy movies megashark vs megafish lol but ive always said sci fi ciuld be a great landing spot for comic properties..dmz had a great story hope they portray Matt in all his glory..cut my cable cord so....
marvel72 - 2/5/2014, 2:22 PM
everything on the small screen nothing on the big screen.
Ranger14 - 2/5/2014, 2:22 PM
Not familiar with this one, as I am more of the superhero comic book fan, so it really doesn't move me in any way...good or bad. The synopsis I just read sounds similar to Revolution without the loss of electricity.
antoineflemming - 2/5/2014, 2:27 PM
It'll be the best SyFy show when it's on their. When Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica were on SyFy, those were THE shows to watch on Friday nights. Everything else there was crap. But, seriously, there's only ever a couple of good series on SyFy in any given season. I still say Agents of SHIELD feels like a SyFy show. And that's not a criticism. Tone-wise, it seems that way.
Brainiac13 - 2/5/2014, 2:32 PM
YES!!!!

Loved reading this.

Just saw 'All hail the king'

THE REAL MANDARIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Kyos - 2/5/2014, 2:34 PM

SnowMiser - 2/5/2014, 2:46 PM
Soo wow. Flash, Constantine, hourman, iZombie, the Avenger, preacher, Gotham and now this.
AstroZombie - 2/5/2014, 2:52 PM
Hopefully they get a decent budget for this show, and it doesn't end up looking cheap like almost everything else on SyFy.
JoeMomma29 - 2/5/2014, 2:57 PM
@ TheSnowMeister

OMG! I forgot about Avenger and Preacher!
Wildling - 2/5/2014, 2:58 PM
I'm more interested in seeing how Gotham PD will turn out.
WruceBayne - 2/5/2014, 3:11 PM
DC this is starting to get out of hand. Just because its a comicbook doesn't mean it should get the tv treatment. Don't spread yourself to thin DC.
Firgosaurus - 2/5/2014, 3:28 PM
DC rules TV and Animation.

Ad money has more potential in the long run, that said the marketing landscape has changed. Good to hear more about DCE doing TV shows.

DC fans are spoiled. And they were here crying about not getting enough things DC related recently.
DrunkenNukem - 2/5/2014, 3:39 PM
so 7 tv shows for each day of the weak

DMZ
IZombie
Gotham
Arrow
Hourman
Flash
Constantine
TheDarkKnightofSteel - 2/5/2014, 3:48 PM
WB should get Heyman to produce DC properties for the big screen! He is one of the best producers out there. The creative teams and actors that he will bring...Marvel will be nothing but history!
Firgosaurus - 2/5/2014, 3:50 PM
I remember when these DC fans were ashamed due to the lack of DC content, now they coming out of the woodwork.

fceeviper - 2/5/2014, 4:08 PM
Count me in.
osideous - 2/5/2014, 4:14 PM
DMZ is [frick]ing awesome
RedNTheHood - 2/5/2014, 4:47 PM
Well this is technically a Vertigo property not directly DC. I love DMZ and it's one of my favorite non marvel or dc comics. I always wanted to see it as a snow.
