Captain America: The Winter Soldier looks set to exceed everyone's expectations this weekend, and while early predicitions pegged it as opening to around $90 million, those later estimates of over $100 million now look almost guaranteed to become a reality. With an 'A' CinemaScore and very positive reviews from fans and critics alike, the Marvel Studios sequel will hold the prestigious honour of having the biggest April opening of all-time by Monday morning. With a third instalment in the franchise already set for 2016, this is a franchise that Kevin Feige is very confident in, and an opening like this definitely means that the patriotic superhero will be around for a long time...

I was looking that up this morning how much it did make yesterday, so all together was it 37.04 million with midnight, or just with the day in general?
DEVLIN712 - 4/5/2014, 7:41 AM
So, including Thursday, Cap's closing in on $50 million!?! That's incredible!
MrSotoMan - 4/5/2014, 7:42 AM
This calls for a celebration indeed!
DEVLIN712 - 4/5/2014, 7:43 AM

I was pretty close to getting my stepdad and mother to go to the theater and watch Captain America 2. Needless to say it didn't work, but my step dad has reignited interest in watching all the Marvel movies again since he hasn't seen Captain America TFA, The Avengers (well he did but he told me he wants to see it again to spark his interest, even sighted the whole Loki & Hulk scene) and Iron Man 3 & The Dark World.
Geotheleo - 4/5/2014, 7:45 AM
This movie is worthy of a praise! Can't wait to see it again!
batz11 - 4/5/2014, 7:45 AM
Going again now with my son, this time IMAX 3D!
MrCBM56 - 4/5/2014, 7:46 AM
It deserves more. Fantastic film.
DEVLIN712 - 4/5/2014, 7:46 AM
@Soto
I convinced my parents to go, they loved the Avengers so they went along willingly. Everyone loved it

"It's getting old"
MrMartinMarvel - 4/5/2014, 7:47 AM
Seeing it today!
MrSotoMan - 4/5/2014, 7:47 AM
Yea my stepdad and mother loved Avengers! I am planning on buying the Phase 1 pack this year just to re-watch them all with my son one day. Or maybe he could just pull it out and watch it himself, like I did with movies when I was 5.
DEVLIN712 - 4/5/2014, 7:48 AM
This dead hamster gang is growing, we need to start up a resistance...

Anyway, back to the article

HOPEFULLY, this means Cap3 will get a bugdet increase into the 200 million range. Honestly if every CBM got a budget like that they'd all be much better (except for the few Green Lanterns that would pop up here and there)

This movie is phucking amazing

Here's a picture of RDJ watching it with a bunch of kids on his birthday

DEVLIN712 - 4/5/2014, 7:55 AM

It's about sending a message
DefcoN - 4/5/2014, 7:56 AM
Hope it makes as much as possible because I'd really like Marvel to release a third movie each year.
SpiderFraud - 4/5/2014, 7:57 AM
I hope it makes that $100 million. Dat Cap shield was giving me a chubby in the theaters, movie is awesome.
Omarvls - 4/5/2014, 7:57 AM
@GoldenOne33

Batman v. Superman will make over 200 million opening weekend

That is an event film
kinghulk - 4/5/2014, 7:58 AM
omega- i think that WB need to reduce the budget's they give new super hero films, like marvel they should give their heroes a budget anywhere between 150-200 million no more. after all MOS had a bigger budget that the avengers, it goes to show that a bigger budget does not mean it will be a better film.
Omarvls - 4/5/2014, 7:59 AM
@DefcoN

Yeah I think Marvel is planning to start releasing 3 films a year starting in 2

2016
May
Cap 3
July
Dr. Strange
Nov
Thor Ragnarok
Omarvls - 4/5/2014, 8:00 AM

@kinghulk

Well Batman v Superman is rumored to have a budget of 275 million or more

I still can't believe Marvel made The Winter Soldier for only 170 million
Impressive
ALegendaryPanda - 4/5/2014, 8:01 AM
@Omarvls

Well, 170 million isn't exactly a small amount. Lol
MrCBM56 - 4/5/2014, 8:02 AM
BvS has a budget of 300 million according to ElMayimbe.
Starfox - 4/5/2014, 8:02 AM

Magneto perfection Michael Fassbender Saying Perfection
Starfox - 4/5/2014, 8:03 AM
MrCMB56 - Wow 300 million?!? I hope they build a lot of Sets.
Lozzy - 4/5/2014, 8:04 AM
Deserves 100 million OW. Hopefully with good word of mouth and a little luck this could reach 700 million +.
ALegendaryPanda - 4/5/2014, 8:04 AM
@MrCBM

Holy shit dude! That movie better blow our god damn minds with a budget like that! Lol
MrSotoMan - 4/5/2014, 8:05 AM
Planning to see it again after I start work on my new job. SOLID WASTE HERE WE COME!!!!
kinghulk - 4/5/2014, 8:05 AM
BvS haveing a budget of 300 million, god that is may too much in my opinion. if BvS doesent make avengers numbers then WB are screwed. they be better of with a smaller budget.
TheRationalNerd - 4/5/2014, 8:05 AM
I love Cap and all but BvS is going to blow that Sucka outta the MCU! lol
Prime - 4/5/2014, 8:05 AM

TheRationalNerd - 4/5/2014, 8:06 AM
Jk it'll be a great showdown. Saw the film last night I'll give it a 4.5/5.
SageMode - 4/5/2014, 8:06 AM
That's what I'm talking about
charlie2094 - 4/5/2014, 8:06 AM
Awesome stuff! Didn't expect this to do near as well, expected numbers much closer to Thor 2, great that it's doing so well, deserves it!
batman1216 - 4/5/2014, 8:07 AM
Cap joins the A list, where he belongs. Great movie. As far as Batman/Superman goes that should be a box office monster on par with The Avengers, but more importantly it has to be great. It is my most anticipated movie ever, but they must not mess this one up. Why can't Warner just make a division of their company for DC films run by DC people like Marvel has with Disney. DC has great characters and story potential as well. Despite the few idiots that claim to be loyal to only one company, 995 of comic fans love both and just want to see great superhero movies. Can't Warner see the potential and what Marvel has accomplished. They need to step it up.
ALegendaryPanda - 4/5/2014, 8:07 AM
@KingHulk

It's a movie with Batman and Superman AND Wonder Woman, a small budget isn't really an option.
Battabing - 4/5/2014, 8:08 AM
It was a damn good movie. It wasn't the best cbm ever (that's still TDK), but it was Marvel Studio's best cbm.

My one complaint is the shaky cam during a few of the fight scenes made them really hard to follow.
It made me kinda nauseous. Got flashbacks to the first Bourne movie.
TheRationalNerd - 4/5/2014, 8:08 AM
The 3D was just a gimmick though...I'd rather see it again in 2D but I'll just wait for the Blu-Ray. TASM2 trailer rocked in 3D and it looks like the 3D is really going to be worth it there.
