More From Simon Kinberg On THE FANTASTIC FOUR; Will We See Annihilus?

Talking to Collider at WonderCon, the site asked Simon Kinberg whether or not The Fantastic Four will be set in the present day or possibly the past (it's hard to deny that the team would work well in a setting similar to that of X-Men: First Class after all). "It’s modern day. I don’t know what the plans are for the publicity. We start shooting in two, three weeks. I went to Baton Rouge the day before yesterday. I go back there tomorrow. We have the cast. We have the costumes." However, when he was asked for specifics on how the costumes will differ to the versions seen in Tim Story's take on the franchise, he added: "The thing I would say overall about the film is that it’s a much more grounded, realistic, dramatic version of the film than those are films were. Which isn’t to say it’s Dark Knight. It’s not. It’s still fun." When the site then asked if me might see Annihilus, Kinberg obviously wasn't giving anything away, but if you check out the video over at the site, you may agree that his reaction is an interesting one! "I'm not going to give any comment on that [laughs], but I’m happy you’re curious about it. We shoot most of the summer until around end of July, August. I don’t know how many days. But we start soon and end in August." Share your thoughts on these comments in the usual place!

I'm pretty torn on this movie.
themidnightking - 4/21/2014, 2:42 PM
I hope that this movie will turn out good
BlackCondor - 4/21/2014, 2:42 PM
I hope they dont use leather jumpsuits.
themidnightking - 4/21/2014, 2:43 PM
But I'm not holding my breath
DEVLIN712 - 4/21/2014, 2:43 PM
Oh damn, Annihilus! ANNIHILUS!

Hope this turns out well! Not that excited for it, but not writing it off. Be cool to see Annihilus, but no reason to try and do too much straight away

Reckon we might get the white suits this time, quite like to see that.

How a fantastic four trilogy should look.

1. Annihilis, Set up doom.
2. Doom, don't kill him, leaving him open for ferthur expansion.
in between there can be some universe expansion events, like Avengers VS doom, stuff like that.
3. Doom again, kill him this time.

Then they can show up in a Silver Surfer film against galactus. sadly this won't ever happen. Why can't FF be in the MCU? We would be able to get the secret invasion, and Galactus, and Doom... And Annihilis of course.

This couldn't possibly be worse than the first two FF movies.... ....could it?
ShawnMadden - 4/21/2014, 2:47 PM
Yossarian, he knows the answers. But he's not supposed to talk about them. That's how you get in trouble with the studio writing your checks.
ProfessorX - 4/21/2014, 2:47 PM
Costumes? I thought this was supposed to be realistic... Superheroes don't wear costumes in the real world (see Chronicle).
BruceLeroy - 4/21/2014, 2:48 PM
[frick] yeah, Annihilus! Can't wait to see Annihilus grounded in reality! Fox has another winner on their hands! Go Fox go!!!
DEVLIN712 - 4/21/2014, 2:49 PM
Unfortunately I don't think Fox can ever do Galactus justice, he's too big of a threat for the F4 alone to take on. Sure it works in the comics but not in a grounded cinematic world. The only way it could ever happen would be a X-Men crossover but that doesn't seem to be happening.
Besides, I don't want to see the F4 become little bitches and have Wolverine lead them
DEVLIN712 - 4/21/2014, 2:50 PM
@Abomination
Cipher could get drunk and then write/direct/produce a F4 film in one weekend better than those
DEVLIN712 - 4/21/2014, 2:53 PM
Shit Tucks, even Ror complemented you in that article...
Nick56 - 4/21/2014, 2:53 PM
I like the sound of this so far, comments made sense, like the direction they are taking - less cheesy than the first 2 movies, a little more grounded, but not dark and gritty.

People need to take a chill pill and stop hating so early on.
MrCBM56 - 4/21/2014, 2:56 PM
Movie will be crazy. I can't wait for it.
MrCBM56 - 4/21/2014, 2:56 PM
Still waiting on Pt. 2 Tucks! Quit [frick]ing around.
MrCBM56 - 4/21/2014, 2:57 PM
Also, I'm damn sure Tucks is Josh Trank in disguise.
KingPatel - 4/21/2014, 3:01 PM
You know what? Annihilus is possibly the only thing that could get me interested in this movie.
sKeemAn - 4/21/2014, 3:01 PM
Annhilus will be a welcoming new villain.
BlackestKnight - 4/21/2014, 3:02 PM
he wuld bea the only cool thing about this movie
HypeMusheen - 4/21/2014, 3:02 PM

knocturnal - 4/21/2014, 3:02 PM
Hate the grounded approach all these films are taking these days
TheAbaryMan369 - 4/21/2014, 3:02 PM
Better be Annihilus. I'm all for them introducing Doom, just don't make him the main villain.
themidnightking - 4/21/2014, 3:02 PM
MrMartinMarvel - 4/21/2014, 3:05 PM
For once he didn't say something that made me want to strangle him. Well done.
ReeferInferno - 4/21/2014, 3:07 PM
Hey! Dark Knight was a lot of fun now.
Ballzgotw8 - 4/21/2014, 3:08 PM
"Grounded realistic"... As if these ARENT comic books... I have no hope for this film.
YoungThanos - 4/21/2014, 3:08 PM

This is FOX and they're calling this Grounded.

Grounded in this case = Low budget crap.

Annihilus will in no way be the 616 version we've all come to appreciate. So if anything posting pictures of Classic "Annihilation" mini should be more disappointing than exciting since we'll never see it as long as FOX has him.
sKeemAn - 4/21/2014, 3:08 PM
I can't lie I'm officially excited for Fox to screw up Annhilus! I can't wait.
KeefNCookies - 4/21/2014, 3:08 PM
Will I boycott this movie and tell everyone I know to do the same? Yes I will.

Just say no to FOX.
ATrueHero1987 - 4/21/2014, 3:09 PM
The only thing that had me just a little excited was that rumor that Annihilus would be the villian but that turned out to be false...
Amazing512 - 4/21/2014, 3:10 PM
I HOPE THIS FILM BOMBS
sKeemAn - 4/21/2014, 3:11 PM
And I also hate this "grounded realistic" crap. Nothing is grounded about a man who can strect his body, or one that be on fire and fly around.
McNyagano - 4/21/2014, 3:12 PM
"The thing I would say overall about the film is that it’s a much more grounded, realistic, dramatic version of the film than those are films were."

LensmanMatt92 - 4/21/2014, 3:12 PM
Just kill this movie already!
