The Los Angeles Times has reported that a video game adaption that will coincide with the 2011 'Green Lantern' film starring Ryan Reynolds is in the works. Not that we never expected one, its just that we never had confirmation a video game was being made.

DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson says it's part of a bigger plan to put DC characters in more titles from the studio's growing Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE) video game publishing unit.

Diane Nelson said: "On the game side there will be more following Green Lantern that we hope to directly be impacting creatively and otherwise."

DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and co-publisher Jim Lee, a writer and artist that are well known to us fans, are consulting on upcoming video games, including 'Green Lantern'.

Although the 'Green Lantern' will be a movie tie-in, Nelson reveals many DC based games in development will not be movie-tie ins.

She used the 'Batman: Arkham Asylum' as an example. 'Arkham Asylum' had nothing to do with any of the films based 'Batman', it was its own thing.

It is hinted in the article that the game may be unveiled at Comic-Con 2010 along with the movie. So watch out!

TheUnknown - 7/22/2010, 10:07 PM
the thing I don't like about movie-tie in games is that they have characters that should be in the movie in the first place but are not.
InTylerWeTrust - 7/22/2010, 10:43 PM
And here come the "Thor's game is so gonna own Green Lantern's game!" and the "No way! Green Lantern's game will rule!" and the "Cap's game is going to crush all of them!" comments.

@Tyler
Well not for me bro!
I think Gl has potential in being an awesome game if DC treat it with the same respect they did for Batman Arkham Asylum. Thor and GL both have that otherworldly feel to the environments (Planets, Space, Mythical lands of fire and ice). I see Thor and GL on equal terms.

crap movie games are always crap except for wolverine origins(better than the movie)

I wouldn't mind if they added more content and expanded on the story buuuuut I'm not so sure I'd want to have Reynold's face or voice in the video game to be honest. They should probably just hire a voice actor and have Ivan Reis or Ethan Van Sciver draw Hal Jordan for the game. Those are two of my fav artists that I like how they draw Hal in the comic books.

In the meantime I'll just charge up @ the battery like I did today ;o)
Comic-Con 2010

Seems like a green lantern video game would be pretty difficult to do well. How do you give somebody the power of their imagination in a game?
WelcomeMat - 7/22/2010, 11:50 PM
They should make a Blade vs. Twilight game!

KALel3412 - 7/23/2010, 12:03 AM

@Taboo I'm not sure what you're saying so I'll refrain from replying. Please clarify.

I for one, thought the Batman Begins video game was outstanding!!! And since WB doesn't have a contract with SEGA, they automatically have the upper hand on Marvel's movie games. Thor's looking good so far but it is still made by SEGA. GL has the advantage. Lets just hope they're ALL good!
antz1104 - 7/23/2010, 5:46 AM
This game is going to eat sh%t. I'm sorry but its a movie tie in game, and the only 2 successful ones have been Spiderman 2 and Wolverine. It shouldn't be compared to Batman AA in any way: that game had years of development and was truly innovative with a great plot, combat system (that they always screw up), and voice acting.
WelcomeMat - 7/23/2010, 6:27 AM
@Taboo lol no, there was no offense taken. I jus literally didn't understand your message. :) ps. I'm being sarcastic about a blade vs. twilight game...i just really like that image I posted...stupid sparkly vampires.
soldier1 - 7/23/2010, 7:28 AM
If this comes as a surprise to anyone...YOU'RE IN THE WRONG! never sees to surprise me, no matter how many comic book video games come out, it always sucks!!...cept for Wolverine origins of course.
Slaggathor - 7/24/2010, 1:31 PM
You know, I'd imagine a green lantern game be a little like scribblenauts... now THAT would be awesome!
jackthebodiless - 7/28/2010, 1:32 PM
Yep movie game tie-ins are usually crap, but the game industry knows this as well as we do, wolverine origins shows they are on the way to getting it right, after all the video game industry is probably the fastest evolving medium there is technical /artistic. GL, Thor, Cap'n A. The Avengers,+ they gotta get at least one right!
