Arrowhead77 and over the years he has become far from that. The most popular iterations in recent years have been the ones where Ollie was witty, sarcastic, funny, and skilled. This knock off Batman shit is old.

LOOK TO THE ORIGINS OF CHARACTERS. And, not just what YOU are familiar with. Millionaire Bruce Wayne. Millionaire Oliver Queen. Batman had a teenage "sidekick" named Robin. Green Arrow had a teenage "sidekick" named Speedy. Batman had his Batmobile. Green Arrow had his Arrowcar. Batman had his Batcave. Green Arrow had his Arrowcave. They have always been intentionally two sides of the same coin. Of course both characters have evolved over 50+ years in the comics. And TV's "Arrow" has been an amalgamation of those 50+ years. And if you actually PAY ATTENTION to what your watching, you can see the Oliver Queen/Arrow evolution in progress. As the character has changed over time in the comic, surely he will in the series. Put down the Ritalin, relax and enjoy.

Does anyone else think this is straight out of the blue? This will be what, the second time we have seen Ra's on this show and Ollie is going to sword fight him to the death? This has not been built up or foreshadowed at all. It feels like some writer went "Oh shit! We need something big to happen during the mid-season finale!" and threw this together in an afternoon.

by the way oliver was talking i feel like this isnt the first time he fought Ras, i have a feeling him and argus went after the league in the flashbacks and failed.

I think the build-up will be enough within the episode. It's the league of assassins, they have obviously been preparing for this from the shadows.

@MrAsia, I think they could've done a little more lead up. However, they have been looking for Sarah's killer and Nyssa did issue an ultimatum to Oliver so it's not completely out of the blue. It's interesting to hear (and I assume it's true) that this was supposed to by Batman Year one and not Arrow. So far though there has been enough differences to not completely be a Batman knock off. All complaints aside I do like what they've done with the show though this season has been a little week compared to the last two seasons. The Deathstroke arc with Brother Blood was pretty awesome this time last year. There was a lot more going on. I miss Moira, she really brought something to the show and a level of intrigue that is missing. Plus, could you imagine if Wells and her would have had to verbally spar. THAT would've been great. Looking forward to Atom, Firestorm, "Black Canary", and a possible JSA for the show. Can you imagine if they went more the JSA route and not a JL, it would make more sense and they could have a lot more leeway withe the characters.

1. This Ras al Ghul is so underwhelming it isn't funny. Liam Neeson looked more intimidating.
2. If Malcom Merlyn cut Oliver's ass back in season 1 & he was trained by the League, Oliver better get a hell of a cut ass by Ras. Cuz dwn to Batman has difficulty dealing with Ras & Oliver's skill aint up to scratch with the God-damned BATMAN!

Which is why i'm hoping that with all the Green Lantern references, he'll be coming to either Arrow or The Flash sometime soon.
These nods aren't simple one-off nods. Ferris Airlines has been mentioned/ seen a couple times & now they've gone into the emotional spectrum

Seeing Captain Boomerang got me hyped for The Suicide Squad film. Also there is no way Oliver can go toe to toe with the demon.

People need to understand that this version of Green Arrow is much more skilled in martial-arts and hand-to-hand combat than his comic book counterpart. In fact he is just more skilled and badass in general, so I think it is fair to say that he can hold his own for a fair amount of time. I don't expect him to win at all, but people should know that he is much more awesome at close combat than in the comics. I honestly think he could go toe to toe with batman and possibly win.

@ABetterTomorrow, that means that Ra's killed Oliver once already, and resurrected him in the Lazarus Pit.
I bet something like that happens. Oliver is supposed to be absent from the first few episodes after the break, so I bet the midseason finale ends with Ra's killing Oliver and Nyssa bringing him back to life with the Lazarus Pit a few episodes later.

Like I said in another article, I think they will make the shirtless duel a league of assassins ritual, which is supposed to be shirtless so there are no concealed weapons and it is fair. That way it can be something more than just batman participates in.
