THE RETURN OF DEATHSTROKE AND TOMMY MERLYN - Malcolm (John Barrowman) puts Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Thea (Willa Holland) in a dangerous situation that lands them on Lian Yu with Oliver's former enemy, Deathstroke (guest star Manu Bennett). A flashback reveals when Oliver and Maseo (guest star Karl Yune) returned to Starling City to retrieve the Omega bio weapon, and despite being under strict orders from Amanda Waller (guest star Cynthia Addai-Robinson) not to reveal himself to anyone, Oliver looks in on his family, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) and Tommy (guest star Colin Donnell). Dermott Downs directed the episode written by Marc Guggenheim & Erik Oleson (#314).

In the aftermath of this victory, Season 3 opens with Arrow now a hero to the citizens of Starling. Crime is down, people feel safer, and Captain Lance even calls off the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Basking in his success, Oliver believes he can finally have a private life and asks Felicity out on a date. But the second Oliver takes his eye off the ball, a deadly villain reappears in Starling, forcing Oliver to realize that he can never be Oliver Queen — not as long as the city needs The Arrow.

I feel like last night's episode was a step toward fixing the show's issues. The Climb episode was freaking amazing, but all the others that were Arrow only were just okay and that's hard for me to say because I love Arrow. So far I'm only interested in Ray Palmer becoming the Atom and Tatsu becoming Katana this season, not either of the Green Arrow stories, past and present.

Did anyone else notice Brandon Routh working on the Atom helmet in the preview images for Canaries and it wasn't a part of the episode.

It's only me or Arrow is becoming more and more annoying, painfull to watch? I loved the show, but now it's ridiculous - to much cheese characters and LAUREL...

Laurels arc was lacking a bloody and vicious defeat, which the show delivered last night. I'm more comfortable with her arc now, that she has been humbled, while still remaining committed. Thea essentially had her wake-up call at nearly the same time.
