I love how the return to the island looks to be taken right from Green Arrow Year One, where the island is controlled by drug dealers with poppy feilds/opium. Awesome return to the source.

Can we talk about how stupid Laurel is? Not only was she told once by Oliver what happens, and I'm sure Merlyn tells her too and she still goes on with it...

Elysia Rotaru is not Carol Ferris, so I am guessing she is a combination of Jennifer Morgan from the Warlord comics and Taiana from Green Arrow Year One. I've also got a strong feeling that the majority of the Arrow part of the Arrow/Flash crossover is going to be about Hawkman and Rip Hunter so hopefully a big part of Arrow 407 will be about bringing back Ray like we saw in the NYCC trailer.

How long has Sara been dead?? Is the Lazarus Pit really supposed to work after such a long period of time?

Funny to see Oliver look like that guy everyone feared in High School until someone kicked his ass. The group used to fear him. Now he is their cuckold on a leash. Thea was kicking his ass. Lance told him off twice. He can't even do the Batman vanish trick anymore.

I get that season 4 has improved but not by a lot. The writing is still terrible. The seasoms closely resemble the plots of a terrible 80s action movie franchise. Hero goes off into sunset. Hero gets reluctantly pulled back in.

The action choreography is beyond terrible. You see bad guys pause to get shot and they have dudes do an aerial flip from a single punch from good guys.

This shlw isn't serious or grounded. It's silly and cliche. I'm glad people seem to like this season better but it has issues. Big issues.

Felicity straight up lies to Oliver in this new relationship and who cares? Cause deceit is apparently okay in a committed relationship. Thea looks like a pretty girl who's never done a sport in her life is doing those stunts. Like, it's bad.

The shows writing is on par with gotham -- the difference is the dialogue is less campy and their actors are slightly better. Sorta.

@ChuckV She's been dead about a year I think? I watched a review where the reviewer mentioned that the longest time the Pit's been used was after a year but the longer they wait, the more impact the effects have, i.e. the crazier the person becomes.

@exies7 Well, that's just it, Arrow is supposed to feel like a superhero show, not a real-life drama. I like the "campiness" I think that's the point otherwise it gets accused of "taking itself too serious for a comic book show".

Also, if you are in a serious, mature relationship, a lie like "oh, I was helping my friends save the city behind your back" hardly warrants a massive fallout considering he would have probably done the same.

Also, Thea's scene last night with the fighting was her best fight yet. What does a "pretty girl who's never done a sport in her life" look like? Really?

If you don't like the show, then fine, don't watch it but what's the use of nit-picking a show that you find bad? It makes you look like a troll and nothing more.

I seriously don't know why people go on threads just to complain about a show... use that wonderful invention called a remote control and change the channel and stop torturing yourself.

Some of us like the cheesy, silly stuff and that's ok too...

@exies7 The writing was laughable before but now it's no longer funny. It's just pitiful.

This is year four ripping Batman Begins. Batman Begins was a 2005 movie that wasn't that good. Not good enough to be ripped off for four entire seasons of a TV show. Badguy comes to city with group of assassins to destroy the city. Little did Nolan know then that he would inspire a lazily produced TV show to merge that plot with Mortal Kombat.

So far this year the worst new idea they've had is making Lance complicit with the murder of fellow cops who got killed at the station while making it look like Lance was a target too. Amazingly, or not amazingly when you consider how bad the writers are, I don't think the writers have even realized they've done that. For example; last night Lance assumes Darhk kidnapped a girl. Then Lance goes to Darhk and bitches about it and says "He's out!". But Lance didn't give a f ck when cops were killed and their throats cut while the girl was taken. If he thought Darhk kidnapped the girl then he thought Darhk killed the cops. But that didn't motivate him to confront Darhk or to finally rat him out.

The writers may notice that after watching the show and mention it later but I'm pretty sure they didn't realize they made Lance an accomplice to cop killers before. There is no way the seasons 1-3 Lance could be involved with killing cops.
So they've made Lance a gutless Judas. And he's not a redeemable character. He's like that pussy priest on Walking Dead now.

@Supafairy your response is pretty much comprised of "really?", yes really on all points. I like comic books and related material, I'm allowed to express my opinion whether you like it or not. Block me, ignore me, or engage me with solid rebuttals. Your choice.

The only time thea looks good is when it's apparent it's her stunt double. But the choreography in general needs a lot of work. Walking behind cover to dodge bullets, etc, etc. It's all rather silly, imo.

Arrow was hailed as a realistic take with a darker tone. That's why so much was changed from the city's name to basic things from the source material. Arrow is getting campy and cheesy due to writing not purposely. They want you to take most of it seriously but I can't. And yes, forcing a superhero to retire and then lying behind his back is a big deal. But gee golly shucks felicity sure is cute!

I didn't attack the fanbase. I didn't attack the brand. It's not trolling simply because it's not your opinion.

@ManDeth The writing in Arrow seems to range from insulting to decent. I guess it depends which writers are taking the helm.

The writing so far in this season isn't great and you're right lance's character is all over the place. It's really disappointing. Aside from the plot being more coherent (not great) it hasn't improved much. The pacing is better but beyond that what's really better?

One episode felicity is all about coming back. The very next episode she doesn't like it. Oliver flat out shows his face in great detail on TV. This stuff is ridiculous and just because it's better than season 3 doesn't mean it's great.

And one of my biggest concerns about Arrow is happening... Mayor Oliver Queen.

It shows how very little the show's writers are aware of the world/universe they and/or others have created! It's just sad.

I was equally disappointed my ideal storyline/scenario with Walter Steele returning as Star City's Mayor & serving as a mentor to Oliver, was dismissed in a throw away line. (At least that would've allowed Oliver some time to learn & gain actually work related experience before becoming Mayor.)

What exactly has "Oliver Queen" done since the beginning of the series??

Seriously think about it.

They've made Oliver a pretty terrible candidate for Mayor!!
Per Arrowverse wiki:
"according to Tommy, included assaulting a paparazzi bystander, driving while intoxicated, stealing a taxi, and urinating on a police officer."
"Oliver has also dropped out of four schools, the last one he never told Moira or Robert about until just before the Queen Gambit's trip."

So, on top of Oliver's arrest record, he may or may not have a degree.

Well, what about job/work experience?

Since returning to Starling City, what has Oliver, not the Arrow, actually done?? He very briefly owned/managed the night club, before Thea took over. Then, as CEO of Queen Consolidated he mismanaged the family company by ignorantly/arrogantly signing it over to an enemy! That's about it!

Does that sound like someone citizens of Star City would trust & believe in enough to vote for to be their mayor?? Would you??

Especially, when you consider the city's need for a mayor with experience & knowledge to help salvage/revive their city?? Does Oliver REALLY sound like he'd get any votes, much less win the election??? Moira Queen was a great candidate for mayor, but leadership, knowledge & experience isn't exactly something that is passed on by genetics or osmosis, right? hahaha The only chance Oliver has is if he runs unopposed, which would be quite a plot convenience.

This is the type of poorly thought out, half-assed writing that frustrates me so bad with this series and this is just one example! It shouldn't take much time/effort to improve in these areas, but as the series has gone on, the lazier & worse their attention details has gotten! I want this series to be so much better than it is! I know it can be better, it has so much potential, but they're just missing so many opportunities. And little details aren't a problem, until you keep making them & they build up, and they just expect the viewers/fans to overlook or forget them.

The opening voice-over is the perfect example! They wrote themselves in a corner with the "stranded on a island for five years" line, but "course corrected" so their decision to make flashbacks continue to have direct impact on present day. To me, the themes of the early flashbacks paralleling & reflecting the present day themes made them more important/significant than the events of the past paralleling/reflecting the present.

I guess my standards aren't as high as some of y'all's, because I just got done watching Season 3, and it was nowhere near as bad as people said. Why does Ra's al Ghul have to be just a Batman villain? If you ask me, Matt Nable's version did some interesting things that the previous live-action version didn't. Really my only problem was the slight unevenness towards the end of the season, and Atom being an obvious Iron Man rip-off, but he's supposed to shrink soon, so that fixes some things.

As for this Season, good start. Ironically it was "Flash" that got me into "Arrow", and I have to say both shows are my cup of tea.
