This is probably the only superhero show that I'm just not interested in and I watched all 10 seasons of Smallville.

Know what I find kind of ironic, and humorous? The people that throw shade on certain CBTV shows like Supergirl, Gotham, Arrow, AoS etc, seem to be watching those same shows every week. Not all perhaps, but I would estimate a good majority. And, the ones who would scoff at my assumption are probably the biggest offenders. You know who you are.

For me personally Supergirl suffers from very similar problems as Constantine did - there's a main character I really really like, but mixed with a story that doesn't draw me in all too much (yet) and a supporting cast that more or less does nothing for me.

Funny enough Gotham was pretty much the opposite: wasn't too big a fan of Gordon, but the rest of the cast with characters like Bullock, Penguin, Ed Nygma, Leslie Thompkins etc kept me watching. Point for Supergirl: there's no Fish Mooney level character in the show so far.

You cannot claim to be a comic book fan and actually like this crap.

Huh...I just noticed that they skip an episode. We got 2 promos for two different episodes...Why?

So I guess by your "assumption" the people who liked the Batman TV series in the 60's, or The Incredible Hulk TV series in the 70's (to name just a couple of shows)weren't comic book fans either?? That comment is asinine.

@Kyos

My thoughts exactly. I like Benoist in the role, I generally like how they handle Supergirl as a character, and the costume looks great. But they've larded the show down with a supporting cast that constantly detracts from its strengths and a story that is more or less a retelling of every other "newbie superhero" adaptation ever done.

I think maybe the problem is the network TV formula. Having to write supporting cast members into every episode, with some form of A-plot B-plot, and conflict resolution by the end of the hour makes the whole thing feel stale. The same goes with the CW series and Agents of SHIELD (certainly at first, but marginally less as the cast and story have gotten bigger and less wieldy).

On any given episode of Gotham, the Penguin may not appear, or may make a small cameo, or be the focus of the entire hour to the exclusion of nearly every other character. That kind of narrative liberty at the very least keeps it feeling fresh week to week.

Also, this series is real hit an miss with its villains of the week. That Livewire makeup and hair is weak sauce.

I guess this show is rated 'E' for estrogen. I enjoy female heroines but this show should consider the larger comic book fan base known as males now and then. And don't get started on what should have been a great TV debut of Red Tornado, so sad.

I stand with bropous. I used to watch (and like) Gotham. Still like it. Thing is, my daughter gets so excited for this show. This forces me to watch Gotham on-line. Family TV night rules my living room on Monday. Supergirl - 1 Gotham - 0.

deanwilkins
deanwilkins - 11/16/2015, 2:46 PM
Let me explain my comment, since @JoeMomma29 has his panties in a bunch, and @Foolsgoldfinger is having a panic attack.

I enjoyed the Batman 60's show and was brought up watching it. And I loved the Incredible Hulk 70's show. Are either of them true to the comic? Sometimes. The Hulk show was reminiscent of the Hulk Magazine which I collected and still have all the issues for. And the Batman show was obviously not intended to be true to the comic.

This show, however, claims a level of authenticity. The "Man of Steel" Superman is present here. Other DC characters are here. There's an attempt to connect with the comic book universe, but the problem is that the show is horrible. Terrible, moronic acting. Awful dialogue. Mostly crappy special effects.
So you want to tell me that the show is made for young girls? Fine. I can accept that, because those young girls are most likely NOT comic book fans.
However, as a fan of both Marvel and DC, I cannot watch garbage like this. I expect better.

Don't pretend that this shitshow is even close to the iconic level of the Batman 60's show. Or Incredible Hulk. It's not even on the level of the Roger Corman Fantastic Four movie.

This is an embarrassment for comic books. Clear?

Livewire looks awesome but the brief fight choreography shown in the promo was terrible. Let's hope the fight between Livewire and Supergirl is better than the General Astra fight.

I actually think ya'll would change your mind if you actually knew what Melissa Benoist did. Legit Leaked photos, like, they were intentional. She's Hotter than you might think. Just go look it up. She's actually did those poses and saying to herself that she looks Hot.

And hey, at least the difference between this and Smallville is...Supergirl uses her alias name/character and uses her powers already. As opposed to trying to discover them and using the Supergirl name in later seasons.

I mean come on, it took quite awhile for The Flash name to be used. And the Green Arrow name is only being used now for Season 4.

We didn't need a crazy backstory into Kara Zor-El/Kara Danvers in the first episode. It's already very relatively the same as Superman. We already know who Superman is. And his universe is part of the DCEU now. No network TV channel is allowed to adapt it unless they stop making Superman movies (Which they're not going to).

Plain and simple....since we can't have a Superman TV show. Supergirl is what they went with. And if I'm one of the few who likes it. So be it.

Plus it brings in a wider range of audiences, Women specifically.

They don't want to just market Men with just The Flash and Arrow. They want to bring in more strong female presence like Supergirl and Jessica Jones(Though, she's Marvel). It'll only be a matter of time when Supergirl gets good episodes running.
Plus the few things the TV shows are doing better than the movies...is using other members of the Justice League and Villains lined up to have their time to shine. Supergirl, The Flash, Green Arrow, Vixen, Hawkgirl, Hawkman, Red Tornado, Deathstroke, Merlyn, Reverse-Flash, Zoom, Grodd, Constantine, etc.
FlashAllen
FlashAllen - 11/16/2015, 5:59 PM
DCEU movies keep recycling characters which i'm sick and tired of having to see their origins when it's mostly the same shit. Batman, Superman, General Zod, Lex Luthor, etc.

The only thing legitimately new is Wonder Woman and Aquaman.

The Flash's origin is pretty much a clear cut story...after watching the TV show, which is amazing. And it'll be the same for the movie with minor changes.

That's the thing too....the TV show did it first, adapting it from the comics. Knowing we have to wait until 2018 is bullsh*t!
