First off, if this article doesn't seem too well-made, I apologize- i'm doing all of this from my cell phone. But anyway, here's what I found regarding our supposed 'villain'

Ever since the announcement was made that Benedict Cumberbatch would be beaming aboard Abram's Star Trek sequel, many rumors and speculations have risen that he could in fact be playing the villain. But...according to a recent 'tease' by the actor, that might not be the case.

While on the Golden Globes Red Carpet, Cumberbatch responded to the question on whether his role would be a "villainous" one and he said "I don't think we do know that actually" and he furthured his point by saying "That's just supposition. And that's all i'm going to say about it"

Personally, whenever I look at this guy- h just seems to ooze the presence of a villain. Also if you read on, he confirms what many had hoped for- he's going through nonstop physical training so we know his "villain" should be a very physical one! So what do you think fellow CBMers? Hero or villain? Post your thoughts down below!

My theory for Cumberbatch is he could be playing a Cardassian.
I know Kligons as the primary villains would seem logical for the sequel, but Cardassians would make phenomenal villains, especially because they have never really been used in a major film (only being the agressors from time to time on DS9).
My idea is that since the destruction of Vulcan, the Cardassians could be looking to expand their empire and could be seen as competitors to The Federation who also seeking to add new civilizations.

I don't know about anyone else but he reminds me of the David Marcus character from Wrath of Khan...but that wouldn't work unless they threw in time travel.

Thank you all for your constructive comments. Once I get to an actual computer, I can edit this article and improve upon it. But I really hope Benedict will be the new villain, he just looks so evil from the face (no offense lol)

@tea- haha cool, thanks for the heads up my friend ;D

@6of13- I like your theory. Cardassians are cool. I figured either Talosians or Gorn could be cool too. I just kinda don't wanna see Khan or the Borgs

I'm gutted I have to wait another year for three more episodes of Sherlock. Best thing on TV.

I think he looks very Vulcan.

Villain? Benedict has a sweet face, but I do hope he is the villain. Love him as Sherlock, can't wait for S3

Well, he may not be a villain; he could potentially just be an antagonist.

Remember, Star Trek IV didn't have a villain either, just a threat

@Neolex- I hated Star Trek IV, damn humpback whales. 'First Contact' always was and always will be my favorite Trek film.
