My Star Trek 2 Villain Theory

My thoughts on who Benedict Cumberbatch might be playing in the as yet unnamed Star Trek sequel!

Ok, greetings my fellow CBMers! We've all heard the usual guesses- "Benedict Cumberbatch is khan, no he's gary mitchell!!! Mwahahaha!!!!" Well after much consideration and this was actually something I considered a few months back but anyway, this is actually a lesser known theory that's been floating around the geekosphere/internet for a while but the khan and gary rumors sadly relegated it into a black hole (pun intended)

Well, i am probably wrong but here goes nothing- Benedict Cumberbatch MIGHT be a klingon.

Now you are all probably thinking "WTF? HOW? KLINGON...HOW??" Benedict appears to be very human. But one theory has been that he could be a Klingon agent disguised as a human/starfleet officer. There was also a TOS episode where a klingon disguised himself as a human and he wore a shiny, silver jacket (i honestly cannot remember the episode name, my apologies) anyway...i seem to recall Benedict wearing a shiny silver jacket in some leaked photos we saw before from the movie...

Oh right, ^ THAT image lol.

One other thing to consider-

When Simon Pegg debunked the khan rumors (thank god) he specifically started by saying "It's not khan" hmmm..."It's?" Not "he?" Hmmm, well they ARE in space and klingons look set to play a major role in the film, maybe then...Benedict Cumberbatch's character is an alien? That is entirely possible, remember it is the future so surely some gene splicing or even some illusionary tricks can make a klingon appear human.

One last thing to consider- many "trusted sources" months ago I seem to.remember stated klingons would be the main adversaries. And as stated by the Star Trek 2 writers themselves, Nolan's "The Dark Knight" film inspired them, no doubt having a plot as rich and thick as having
klingon/human dual identities seems to be within the realm of Nolan.

So what do you think CBM? Could Benedict Cumberbatch be a klingon? Surely not khan since he was debunked already and Gary Mitchell having appeared in the IDW tie-in comics, we can exclude him from consideration.

Post your thoughts below! Respectful discussions and debates are always welcome.

Just as a heads up- I typed all of this using my cell phone so if it looks funny, my apologies. This is an age old theory but one I felt needed to be addressed here since all we ever read here is either Khan or Gary Mitchell.

AS FAR AS STAR TREK 2 GOES, YOU NEED TO FIRE J.J. ABRAMS. HE HAS NO CLUE OF THE STAR TREK UNIVERSE. HIS FIRST ATTEMPT FELL FLAT AND HE PROBABLY LOST ALOT OF FANS. I ADMIT THAT IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT STAR TREK, IT WAS A GOOD MOVIE. TO THE AVERAGE FAN IT STANK. SOME OF THE REASONS IT STANK ARE:IT SHOWS THAT THE STARFLEET INSIGNIA IS THE ENTERPRISE INSIGNIA. THERE WAS NO STARFLEET INSIGMIA UNTIL THE NEXT GENERATION. THE ENTERPRISE WAS TOO MODERN LOOKING, YOU BLEW UP THE PLANET VULCAN, THE FOUNDINF ALIENS OF THE FEDERATION, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? THESE ARE JUST A FEW OF MY OBSERVATIONS. I JUST HOPE J.J. CAN PULL HIS HEAD OUT OF HIS ASS THIS TIME BEFORE HE KILLS STAR TREK.

Interesting theory LP4. I don't know if you watched the series Enterprise which added a retcon for the look of the Klingons from the original series compared to the Next Gneration. At this point of the time-line in which this movie takes place, there are 2 kinds of Klingons: Ones with ridges and ones without. The Klingons tried to augment their DNA with human DNA from human embryos (like Khan's augmented humans with advanced strength, intelligence, healing etc). The result of the Klingon's trying to augment their DNA with human DNA resulted in ridgeless Klingons i.e Klingons that look human. I think your theory, if true, explains how Benedict Cumberbatcher's character is so easily able to fight Spock (in the picture above where the Vulcan neck pinch does not appear to be working).

@ 6of13 thanks for pointing out the Augments, I was going to point that out. Data's fathers grandfather--Soong. That is plausible!
