Nightmare On Elm Street screams into theaters April 30, 2010. So this folks, is right around the corner. This from Omelette:

"Horror. Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley) returns in “A Nightmare on Elm Street”, a contemporary re-imagining of the horror classic. A group of suburban teenagers share one common bond: they are all being stalked by Freddy Krueger, a horribly disfigured killer who hunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can protect one another…but when they sleep, there is no escape."

Dose this film look scarier then the original? Maybe, it looks like they are staying closer to what a actually burn victim looks like. See pic here:



So I'm liking that. But this story is a re imaging of an already successful franchise. Meaning that to draw audiences in they have to do something bigger and better. From what I have seen I don't know if they have done that. What do you guys think? Step in or Step out?

YAY! The screen caps from the trailer we've all seen! Including the figure that was posted too! Yaaaaay! These guys need to do some major advertisement instead of giving us the same thing over and over.

Gonna be hard to top the original, with the self-mutilation and what not, but I'm definitely interested. There's something about a guy who chops off his own digits to scare an already terrified girl even further. I'm interested in seeing how they handle the new concept twist where it's unclear whether Krueger actually molested the children or whether they conspired to get him killed.

I think this looks like it will be really good. The action figure even looks awesome! You can really see JEH inside of it, the cold look in the eyes, reminds me a lot of when he did Rorscach.

SAW TRAILER, HEARD VOICE, LOOKS GOOD..THING IS I MISS THAT VOICE..I MEAN HALEY'S IS PERFECTLLY FINE, CALL ME NOSTALGIC BUT I DO MISS THE VOICE..JUST SEEMED OTHERWORLDLY TO ME...BUT IM SURE THIS FILM WILL BE THE BOMB

at least they didnt change much.all the best reboots stay true too the original, love the more realistic burn look!!! i just hope he doesnt say much... thats what slowly got lame too lame-o, the wise cracks were rediculous after a while...keep him in the shadows. it was almost like...knock,knock....whos there?.......me!!! arrrghhahahafreddy!!! just silly! can i get an amen?

I don't see how that looks any closer to an actual burn victim...perhaps closer than the original but it still not a real burn victim.

Love Freddy. Michael Myers is my favorite old school serial killer, but Freddy comes a close freakin second! I like that this movie is going back to the "scary" Freddy from parts 1 and 2, and not the "funny" Freddy from the others. Still, there are a few of things that could break this movie:

1) Cat Freddy
2) Music video director
3) pg-13 look

If all goes well, we might see a good remake, but this movie could never beat the original.

I'm not really a big fan of remakes, but I really wanna see this along with the Clash of the Titans remake.

The trailer definitely made me want to see this movie for 3 reasons:
1.) The "origin" story arc showing what appears to be a frightened and wrongly accused Freddy Kruger being lynched.

2.) A lot of shot-for-shot scenes comparable to the original

3.) The fact that they are making him look more like a burn victim than a wise-cracking "Pizza the Hut" in a Fedora.

This will rock. Just as the remade Halloween, and Friday the 13th.

Also, they messed up when they let Robert Englund use his real voice as Freddy. It was much scarier when it was dubbed at a lower rate (Still Englund's voice, but synthesized lower)

everything i've seen about this movie makes me think it's going to be awful. the make-up from the original look a lot better than this looks like it's going to be. just seems like they're taking everything out that made freddy good in the first place, like the dark humor, and the way they make it look like he may have been innocent. i wan't the sick and twisted freddy please.

I feel you guys on that, but I am still going just for the sake of seeing Haley.

His performance as Rorschach hit me HARD. I am a fan for life.

I think it was the third time I saw it in the theater when I swore I would see whatever he's in from now on. And I'm sticking to it.
