2 Director's Narrowed Down To Helm The New Spider-Man Reboot!

There have been many names, James Cameron, and Michael Bay to just name a couple. Read on to find out who the two directors are that Sony's got in the hot seat.

Lets get right to it. Deadline has reported that Marc Webb (500 days of Summer) and Sony have met. Sony is interested in Marc Webb because he portrays young people in '500 days of summer' like Sony wants to portray the young people in the rebooted Spider-Man universe.

That's it. Nothing official. No one has signed on yet.

The second guy in line is Matthew Vaughn, director of 'Kick Ass'. Which is my personal choice to direct Spidey in his new outing. If we have to go back to High School then let's do that with an established director at least. Matthew was offered to direct 'Thor' but then went the 'Kick Ass' route landing himself with what seems like a hit.

Sony is planning for a 2012 release. Why will filming this movie take so long? Because Sony is going to film it in 3-D. Look for that announcement to be made softly when Sony feels the time is right. The time will probably be right for them after they announce who will direct and star in the reboot.

Other director hopefuls that are on Sony's wish list are James Cameron, David Fincher and Wes Anderson. With these guys it is not a question of money or exposure, it is a matter of wanting to helm such a large project. Michael Bay merely said he wanted in, but there was no return interest from Sony.

Just please use James Cameron's 3-D technology so we can see what the Green Goblin should have looked like. One thing is for sure, this film will look amazing in 3-D at the Portage 16 IMAX Theater. With 3-D becomming the way to go we will see less gimicks and more of a translation into 3-D. Example of a good 3-D movie: Avatar! That was kick ass. Bad example of a 3-D movie: 'My Bloody Valentine' and the last 'Final Destination' flick, too many 3-D Gimmicks. A big budget movie wont feel the need to use cheep parlor tricks to draw their audiences in. Especially Spider-Man.
