Since Kick Ass this is happening more and more.

You would think after watching an actor get shot and beat to near death (Kick Ass) would detour any Spandex crime fighting by a random citizen in real life. But it didn't and now we have guys out there like Phoenix Jones. Phoenix Jones is one crazy guy but he's got nuts the size of two 1 ton wrecking balls, yet, the Man of Steel he is not.

This from the SeattlePI:

'One of Seattle's self-proclaimed super heroes had his nose broken and was threatened at gunpoint Saturday, prompting police to again ask that he and others stop with the costumes and call 911.'

Notice the beginning of the quote said 'One of'. Does this mean there are more Seattle Super Heroes waiting in the wings? Is this the first of a long line of broken noses and pistol whipped Petes?

Phoenix Jones is having none of the 'Call 911' talk, last week on 'Good Morning America' Jones said calling 911 was like waving a white flag, in fact Phoenix had this to say in response:

"I endanger my life with a reason and a purpose."

Phoenix went on to say something that rings true to many defenseless victims of crime:

"If police aren't here, criminals feel free to run wild in my city," he continued. "And I'm not going to stand for it."

To which Seattle PD responded:

"Does Superman get his ass kicked?" one detective asked. "These people should not be called super heroes."

Hell yes they should! Forget about Team Edward or Team Jacob, I pick Team Phoenix! I wonder if the thugs and hoodlums of Seattle sit in fear saying 'Better not jack that old lady or The Guardian will come %^&* you up?' I serioulsy doubt it but I support Phoenix Jones!

Phoenix Jones, if you read this please send me an email, an Interview for CBM is definitely requested!

Sad to say but if he keeps it up, he will end up dead. Bad guys have no reserve for using leathal force. Someone will shoot him in the face and think he is cool for doing it.
the1egend1ives - 1/11/2011, 1:42 PM
He was threatened at gunpoint? Ok.... I wonder what he did next? Piss his pants?
santoanderson - 1/11/2011, 1:45 PM
Is he holding a hoagie in that first picture?
write33 - 1/11/2011, 1:45 PM
This guy has his heart in the right place, but man it's a damn shame if he dies for this. aren't there other, less confrontational ways, he could help his community? hope he finds one that works for him; the world needs more good people in it, not less.
KUSlacker - 1/11/2011, 1:46 PM
cops hate this sh!t
StrangerX - 1/11/2011, 1:52 PM
Something bad will come from this.
evil1rox - 1/11/2011, 1:55 PM
His heart's in the right place.. his suit isn't.

Maybe he needs coporate backing?

Im gonna ask phoenix jones to be my sidekick in DC Universe online. LOL
xXkryptoniteXx - 1/11/2011, 1:59 PM
If this dude got the guts on fighting crime, do it for money, I mean fight in the ring and do big. This is why some major movie companies didn't wanna do kick ass, cause there are stupid people in the world like this. A true thug well just rush this dude and stab him, stand this dude in the eye as a finishing touch, thugs are probably thinking " I see this dude in the street, I'll mess him up".
marvel72 - 1/11/2011, 1:59 PM
he should take kick ass out of his dvd player,he'll be found dead in a few weeks, someone will pull a gun on him then BANG!its all over.
GUNSMITH - 1/11/2011, 1:59 PM
IT'S A COOL IDEA, BUT EVENTUALLY...YOU JUMP INTO DANGEROUS SITUATIONS AND YOU GET HURT SERIOUSLY MAIMED OR KILLED.

COOL SUIT THOUGH.
canadiancastaway - 1/11/2011, 1:59 PM
Maybe he should take up a less threatening line. Like fighting white collared crime, or reading to seniors.
StrangerX - 1/11/2011, 2:04 PM
Not to be racist, but I'm surprised it's a black kid doin this.
GUNSMITH - 1/11/2011, 2:06 PM
Ryden - 1/11/2011, 2:06 PM
@stranger- Why?
ThaMessenger07 - 1/11/2011, 2:08 PM
There are tons of these guys. I want to start training them. Handcuff Procedures, Pepper Spray, Police Baton/PR24 techniques, Barehanded Self Defense and martial Arts, Knife Techniques/Disarms, tactical insertion, commonsense, and conditioning and escape methods.

I would love to train these guys in all these techniques. If they could catch a plane down to South Florida I would be willing to train them. It is for there own safety, could increase there chance for survival.
NateBest - 1/11/2011, 2:08 PM
The guy wears a bulletproof vest and metal knife plates... That's nuts! He obviously put some thought into it...
Chupathingy66 - 1/11/2011, 2:09 PM
Dude's not very good at keeping his secret identity. What if his archnemesis decides to go after his family. Classic rookie mistake. His girlfriend is going to end up stuffed in a refrigerator or thrown off a bridge.
StrangerX - 1/11/2011, 2:11 PM
I've always thought that the first person I'd see do this in real life would be some geeked out white boy.
GUNSMITH - 1/11/2011, 2:13 PM
Hawksblueyes - 1/11/2011, 2:14 PM
I don't see anything wrong with this dude. As for everybody talking about how dangerous it is, your absolutely right, it is. However, if this dude gets himself killed doing something he thinks is good ( and who knows how many people he has helped while doing this) Then so be it.

He could get killed doing this, he could also get killed driving in his car. He can be killed doing anything just like any of us.

And to be clear, no, I have no desire to follow in his footsteps. I'm just saying if he can save a person or two before he goes down, more power to him.
patriautism - 1/11/2011, 2:21 PM
Fool needs to get a stun gun.
ThaMessenger07 - 1/11/2011, 2:22 PM
@Stranger one of the first to do it was a geekedout white boy. There are tons more out there all over. Google them and Youtube them.

Agreed Hawks! Well Said!
MaceLortay - 1/11/2011, 2:26 PM
What do you mean "Does this mean there are more Seattle Super Heroes waiting in the wings?" Dude, Seattle is the super hero capital of the world. They've got more Real-Life Superheros there then anywhere else. This guy's got a good idea with the vest and knife plating but I think add he should add a metal helmet (a thick one like doctor destiny's) too, stop those nasty bullets then and there! and maybe throw in neck gaurd for some added knife protection . . .a
StrangerX - 1/11/2011, 2:28 PM
Ok I have to say at first I was worried because I thought it was just this guy by himself, but after learning there are more of them. These guys have there own little superhero gang. It's actually kinda scary.
crazyray - 1/11/2011, 2:29 PM
I come from family of police officers and am waiting to get on Chicago PD, so I have exposure to 'crime fighting' but seriously... "Does Superman get his ass kicked?" has to be the FINNIEST clip from a cop EVER. AWESOME. 'The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.' ... NOT RUNNIGN AROUND WITH STAB PLATES GETTING YOUR ASS KICKED. Anybody remember the end of Batman Begins?!?! I watched it last night... "What about ESCALATION???...and you're running around in a mask jumping off rooftops" Give it time before some whack job criminals take a cue. It's coming, wait for it.
Geeksiah - 1/11/2011, 2:31 PM
At least he's trying and not sitting on his arse complaining.

write33 - 1/11/2011, 2:32 PM
@Hawksblueyes

you seem like a smart guy so to be clear, i'm not trying to pick a fight..........but I disagree with your logic. putting on a costume and going out to FIND trouble is not the same inherent risk factor as driving a car. It's all about the odds for the circumstances you put yourselves in, you know?

I don't want to oversimplify, or be weirdly morbid....... but let's say he gets brain damage doing this next year, and is a vegetable for life. or! he volunteers in soup kitchens and organizing neighborhood watch programs for the next 30 years. seems to me the greater value, but less publicity and adrenaline appeal, is the second one. And in the real world? i think those are the solutions for positive civic-minded folks.
Benjamitesandwich - 1/11/2011, 2:43 PM
That's pretty awesome, but he could die doing this.

I guess I should look on the bright side: His suit doesn't have bat nipples.
StrangerX - 1/11/2011, 2:44 PM
@crazyray-too late
crazyray - 1/11/2011, 2:48 PM
@stranger- should we be tracking you IP address??? LOL
Hawksblueyes - 1/11/2011, 2:54 PM
write: In no way did I mean to imply that the odds don't drastically change depending on what we do. But the fact is that we can get hurt doing anything. And I don't believe there is anybody alive that should be presumtuous enough to think they can decide what someone can or can not risk their lives doing or where someone can or can't offer their services. There are people hurt and killed all day, every day, all over the world and some of them could have been stopped simply by having someone show up on the scene. The police can't be everywhere.

People have become to accustomed to passing by a situation that looks dangerous to them. Many people won't even bother to pick up a phone and call the police when they see someting bad taking place.

If he saves one innocent person he has done as much good as serving soup in a soupline every day for 30 years IMO.

I say more power to him.
Louzer - 1/11/2011, 3:01 PM
I like the sentiment, very guardian angels, but you either need to go one of 3 ways:
a)bake sale organiser/litter pick co-ordinator.
b)bounty hunter/private security/police force/private detective.
c)vigilante thug (probably with weapons, lots of them and thus criminal too.) such as the gangs in Northern Ireland who police their own towns and cities dishing out beatings and kneecappings to sex offenders, thieves and drug dealers (although this is often based on missing out on the drug business or religious prejudice.)
MassExecutions - 1/11/2011, 3:04 PM
Do his actions make it more likely that OTHERS (not the perpetrators) will get hurt? Is even if his actions make it less likely, do they make it harder to prosecute such that there could be more future recurrence? It all full of pros and cons. These are the questions you have to ask.

One way or the other, he should probably call 911.
MassExecutions - 1/11/2011, 3:05 PM
@weneedrevelation - dude, Hawks isn't saying nothing is going to happen to this guy, he's just saying its this guys choice to do this. I agree, if you throw in there that his doing this doesn't increase the danger of others getting hurt.
Hawksblueyes - 1/11/2011, 3:08 PM
weneed: write and I were trying to have some sort of intelligent conversation. Just because we have differing opinions doesn't mean we were insulting each other or for that matter having bad thoughts about the other. Try and keep your ignorant ass out of a conversation that doesn't concern you.
ThaMessenger07 - 1/11/2011, 3:09 PM
In the situation where he was stabbed people said they called the police and they never answered the 911 call because it was a bar brawl.

@ weneed: I think Hawks has more validity and truth in what he wrote then you have thus far.
AsianAvenger - 1/11/2011, 3:13 PM
I LIVE IN SEATTLE AND THIS IS HILARIOUS LOL
CyborgNinja - 1/11/2011, 3:15 PM
Quite frankly, I think more people (those with brains) should do this. A few rookie mistakes though...

1. Maintain your damn secret identity! For christ-flakes-sake don't advertise who you _really_ are.

2. What the heck you doing walking the streets in view of everyone! That's how crooks get you easy in a drive by or something.

3. Finish your damned costume. You're all Superhero up top and dude in BDU's down low. It's an all or nothing deal chief.

Seriously though, even if he ends up dead or not, kudo's to him and his little quasi justice league. Nothing better than people willing to stand up and actually fight for their freedoms, to not sit idle while "domestic terrorists" threaten us right here at home. I respect law enforcement, but they can't be everywhere all the time.

He should get together with that canadian guy that made the Halo suit. That shit had actual bullet proof armoring and such. Stand a much better chance I would think.
CyborgNinja - 1/11/2011, 3:17 PM
I'm still waiting for a criminal to rise up as some crazed super villian of Seattle. Turn it into a real life comic lol.

Darkseidis - 1/11/2011, 3:17 PM
Good luck to the guy. Only problem I see with this is if he gets killed or seriously injured, I could see law makers trying to move something forward that would ban people from wearing costumes or the like in favor of making vigilante justice a crime (or even moreso?).
shaddowkhan - 1/11/2011, 3:32 PM
Superheroes dont do press dude wtf
nuck82 - 1/11/2011, 3:35 PM
lol he went all old school on your ass with the boyz 2 men YO!!

SOAL!!!
Joe6Pack74 - 1/11/2011, 3:35 PM
Another reason for me not to goto Seattle...
GrayFox1025 - 1/11/2011, 3:44 PM
This is [frick]ing awesome! More power to the guy. This guys needs a batman style grappling hook and scan from the roof tops. Now THAT would be bad-ass
Gab - 1/11/2011, 3:46 PM
GOD BLESS HIM!!BUT HE MUST BE SMOKING SOME SERIOUS SHIT!!WHEN HE GETS SHOT THE POLICE WILL LAUGH AT HIM!!THE NEWS MAN WAS TRYING NOT TO LAUGH!!AND SO WAS THE VICTIM WHOS CAR GOT BROKEN INTO!!!!
write33 - 1/11/2011, 3:50 PM
@Hawksblueyes

agreed. we have different points of view, that's all. i'm taking zero insulting remarks from our convo.

and the idea of people ignoring bad situations? totally agree that it's miserable sad and unacceptable. that recent story of Allen Haywood? perfect (and sad) example. i dunno, in fantasy i love comics, but i do think in the real world that violence only creates more violence. and a crime free society IS possible.....eesh, I'm getting sentimental in my old age.
TheMyth - 1/11/2011, 4:13 PM
CrazyRay, Escalation is my favorite point made here. When people start doing this, it will not be long before it's abused and perverted.

Hawksblues and Write33, while I agree with Write in methods of productivity, ultimately Hawks is most correct in that it's any morons choice what to do with their life. Morally, so long as he hurts none but himself and he truly seeks to do good through good actions, than there is nothing wrong with what this guy and others like him do. Socially, we may all view this as crazy, and their methods unnecessarily dangerous, but that is their decision.

Personally I view this as Darwinism at its finest. The brightside to it all is, he may get killed... and in doing so remove his genes from the collective pool, or he might succeed in saving a life or two or saving some kid "Gone Baby, Gone" style... and then gets killed later removing his genes from the... see where I'm going? This Phoenix individual is a moron. Some Kevlar and plating isn't gonna save you.

Which brings me to ultimately agree with TheMessenger. If people insist on doing this, which I admire to an extent, then they desperately need training. I would also say they need training beyond combat. For all intents and purposes, if one were REALLY going to go this road, they should model themselves after Batman, that's as concise as I can be. Myself? I'm content sitting in my hoouse with my own criminal-repellant, a 12 gauge.
ElBeaster - 1/11/2011, 4:20 PM
This guy's less like Kick-Ass and more like Defendor lol
Tc - 1/11/2011, 4:29 PM
" "Does Superman get his ass kicked?" one detective asked. " hahaha thats one detectives justification of why they shouldnt do it. Superman has gotten his ass kicked before lol
