Comparing The Theatrical And Rough Cut Of X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Interesting details on how the two versions compare to one another. I for one will still be in the theater May 1.
AICN reports:

"Veritas sent in the following message after viewing the edit we'll be seeing in theaters, also including an aside about a conspiracy of silence surrounding advance screenings of the film.

Here's Veritas...

Sometimes there are clauses prohibiting us from writing about a movie before a certain date ("embargo"). But this was different: we had to sign a clause that we wouldn't even TALK about the movie until two days prior to its US release, especially on the web. I found that quite odd.

Add to that recent reports that the finished version is as long as the leaked workprint, even though FOX stubbornly insists that the workprint is missing the material from the reshoots. It makes sense, too, as the trailers have scenes that are not featured in the workprint (Wolverine carrying his girlfriend to the beach, a young Ororo in Nigeria).

Well, having seen the finished film, the mystery is solved: the workprint version IS in fact identical to the release print, sans effect and some audio work. It's obvious that FOX is trying their darndest to keep this news from getting out, because it will eliminate most of the motivation for people who have seen the workprint to pay for a ticket.

Some scenes from the trailer are not in the finished version, either.

The finished effects are lackluster, to say the least - some really bad CGI work made me groan numerous times (especially, but not restricted to, Patrick Stewart's cameo). The scene with Stewart looks so much better in the workprint - trying to digitally de-age him did NOT work this time around...

Good pacing, good lead performances, and some cool comic book fights overcome a non-existing story, horrible dialog (including the classic "I'm so cold..."), and criminally underdeveloped characters. It's a fun flick, but it will never be considered one of the great comic book movies of our time (like Iron Man, Dark Knight, Watchmen, etc.). They also have to jump through some ridiculous hoops to reset all the relationships to properly connect it to the first "X-Men" movie (unnecessary, I think - who seriously gives a shit?)".

Like I said above I will still be in Theatres May 1 to see this movie. I was going to go and give this film a chance before the leaked Internet version and now more so since the Internet leak. As bad as the plot points seem to be, if this film gets no support Fox could very well shut the vault on any future X movies, meaning we will have to wait till Fox loses all rights to the property. If anything maybe Fox will learn from their mistake by listening to the backlash from fans that have been extremely disappointed so far by what they have seen from X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Yeah it's gonna suck. I'm not even wasting my 10 bucks on a ticket. Hell I won't even waste my bandwidth on the download. Hugh was a great Wolverine but I have a feeling this is the end of his run. Sorry Hugh!
LastSon1027 - 4/23/2009, 12:43 PM
Why don't you see it first, LastSon, Jesus Christ.

And your avatar, good luck with that happening too.

I will support the franchise. I know there will be awesome parts at the least, so I am not worried.
saymekian - 4/23/2009, 12:52 PM
i wish fox would gave up on anything comicbook cuz they never get it right
Beastwood - 4/23/2009, 12:54 PM
oh [frick]
RorMachine - 4/23/2009, 12:56 PM
I'm still gonna see it and compare for myself.. plus my girlfriend's birthday is the same week as the movie and she is crazy excited for it so.. don't want to bring her down
spiderman1985 - 4/23/2009, 1:11 PM
well put rorshach well put
crazyish - 4/23/2009, 1:13 PM
sorry, no chance to that movie
Oleg Condrea - 4/23/2009, 1:13 PM
they need to stop worrying about making it make sense with the first X-men, have it be its own thing. i wouldnt give a shit if it didnt make sense to the first X-men, would any of u?
HUSoldier - 4/23/2009, 1:16 PM
Weren't they supposed to change the after credits scene at least? I think they might try to make a Nick Fury/Samuel L. Jackson cameo again since he doesn't age either. He could meet Logan and say something like "i'll need you in a few years for a team I'm building" and Wolverine will be mentioned in Avengers as a reserve character. Thoughts?
CarlLucasLukeCage - 4/23/2009, 1:18 PM
I will go see it and glad I didnt look at the rough cut leaked version...
Its a movie...it will not make or end my life...

I will like it...or not..Nuff said but if this stinks they will come back correct (i hope) like Hulk 2 did.
vonstallin - 4/23/2009, 1:22 PM
CarlLucasLukeCage

I have to say no although I wouldn't mind to see what you described but I think it isn't really needed...all you'll see after the credits is the Weapon xi or whatever he will be put back in the picture cause he has healing ability too and its so good his head will come back together
BCiddy - 4/23/2009, 1:25 PM
I cant wait for this Movie To Release so i cant stop reading all the under graded opinions of a leaked movie. Who cares if the Movie is not consistant with the comics. None of the X-Men movies or Iran Man was true to the comics. So people give it a rest the movie is gonna kik ass and be awesome just like me. And just like i said in another forum, they should make a handfull of Origin Movies all leading to One epic movie like Lord of the RIngs, with no relation to any of the X-Men movies.
Awesomeness - 4/23/2009, 1:25 PM
Very well put Vonstallin! I mean really it is just a movie. None of the comic book movies that have been released have ever been close to the original comics. Why is everyone hating Fox for it? I mean I know X-men and wolverine are really beloved franchises but really it's a movie, the goal is to make it as entertaining as possible to all audiences, not just hardcore comic geeks. I will enthusiastically go see it and most likely enjoy it because any chance to see X-Men on the big screen is just amazing!
BlackOnyx1 - 4/23/2009, 1:26 PM
Iran Man?
BCiddy - 4/23/2009, 1:29 PM
I'll still go see it. I'm sure the $10 I would spend on my ticket will still go towards somthing just as stupid anyway...
BmanHall - 4/23/2009, 1:30 PM
Iran Man? Thats like a foriegn iron man

BCiddy - 4/23/2009, 1:33 PM
Oh [frick] is right. I'm glad I scored free movie passes.

Only thing FOX has going for them right now is The Wrestler.

SirPrize - 4/23/2009, 1:34 PM
you guys are crazy all the comic book movies that has come out has been awesome except for hell boy 2
BCiddy - 4/23/2009, 1:36 PM
The Nick Fury/Sam Jackson thing won't happen. Avengers is being produced by Marvel and X-Men rights belong to Fox.
JTPetersen - 4/23/2009, 1:47 PM
@ SIRPRIZE @ Funny, i just saw THE WRESTLER yesterday, mighty fine film!!! @ BCiddy @ What you on about??? HELL BOY 2 was a great film apart from the ending lol! : D ... As for COMPARING WOLVERINE! Glad i don't have to, gonna go and watch it, probably not on MAY 1st lol, but im gonna be watching it!!! Hey i know it's ain't gonna be WATCHMEN!!! So i wont be disappointed! Well hope not lol, hope they sort DEADPOOL out abit too! ; ) @ JTPETERSEN @ All i can say it GOOOOOOOOOD!!! I don't want a lame ULTIMATE version FURY anywhere near the X-Universe!!! It's bad enough having a Merc with no mouth lol!
LEEE777 - 4/23/2009, 1:49 PM
F*CK!!!

I'm so torn...

On one hand i wanna support ANY comicbook movie, especially one where the lead actor is so genuinely honored and enthusiastic about the part.

On the other hand I wanna help send the message to fox that NOT TAKING OUR FAVORITE COMICBOOK PROPERTIES SERIOUSLY WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!

I don't know if I should see it in the theaters or not....
Talontd - 4/23/2009, 2:07 PM
I call bullshit. I know Jman1977 is just posting from another article, but I say with the way the FBI is crawling all over this leak, no silly asshole is going to breech another contract with Fox by discussing it.
TheMyth - 4/23/2009, 2:17 PM
grrr what a coincidence i read a few comic books earler today of wolverine when he was going thru his doubting/depression state after he had lost his adamantum.. getting roughed up by old enemies, had to be saved by kitty pryde for shames sakes! o well, :/

and you people above its not about fox changing the liberties so the general audience can enjoy, its the STORY! and that directly relates so if they have to change stuff to fit there story.. or "adaptation" and it fails, then they fail! stop yelling at us telling us were wrong because we are upset fox messed up another movie. also, people who dont read comic books wont go see this movie twice because they dont give a shit, its the fans of the comic that will go back, were the guys that go back 1 and 2 times, we are the guys that you see 3 weeks later and its just a handfull of people in theater, i doubt ill go see it more then once, i think ill check out the comedy with mike epps the following weekend .. [frick] fox

im still going to see it though, i need a slice of sbarros anyways
loganaspatch - 4/23/2009, 2:21 PM
i hope this is bullshit...im gonna find out openning night i guess...but if this is the case im probably gonna wait at the theaters and tell people what happens in the film after i see it. i know its a dick move but if the movie sucks this bad then isnt that also a dick move?

Every1Hooked - 4/23/2009, 2:21 PM
if both the leak and the finished movie are the same then fox need there f"*kin heads testin this was a perfect op 2 change and shake up the final cut of movie for fans!
steel69 - 4/23/2009, 2:35 PM
Wow It's really interesting how everybody gets on my case for being a naysayer about this movie.
Now here we are a week from gametime and all you guys are thumbing it down too!
All I can say peeps is that I told you so.
I saw this coming literally years ago. Even as soon as the very first details that came in I knew something had gone seriously wrong.

@HUsoldier... no I wouldn't have cared at all. A non sequiter stand alone film would have been good.
Juggernaut - 4/23/2009, 2:54 PM
fox blows...producers nd writers should lose their jobs...they dont hire consultants to help them with the script...how didnt they see this comin...its bogus...they spent 130mill on the flick and they cant pay a shmo like me or u to tell them how to really put together a comicbookmovie that can satisfy us and the ppl who dont know any better. watever...maxcapradio.com...
dtakos11 - 4/23/2009, 3:01 PM
what's even more disturbing than bciddy's disgusting picture is calling Hellboy 2 a bad film. That movie was 10 times better than the first.

Does anyone know exactly how much greenscreen is in the leaked version? Is it like in many major scenes and sh!t? Cause I'm considering just watching it and staying at home. If it's the same thing - screw it man.
Keven - 4/23/2009, 3:07 PM
First everyone is SOOO Hyped to see the movie and NOW everyone is saying they are not going to see it or support it. GEEZZZUS make up your [frick]ing minds.
DJCheckPoint - 4/23/2009, 3:31 PM
HELLBOY II WAS AWSOME..THIS FILM WILL BE WORTH WATCHING IN THE THEATER-IM HAPPY IT GOT MADE..HUGH IS WOLVERINE, LOOK AT THE MUSCULATURE HE BUILT ON JUST TO PLEASE FANS.I KNOW ITS NOT EXACTLLY LIKE THE BOOKS, BUT WHAT FILM IS?..JUST GO TO THE MOVIES, SPEND THE 10, GO SPEND THAT DOWNPAYMENT ON A NEW CAR FOR POPCORN AND SODAS AND A HOTDOG INSIDE OR SNEAK IN BURGERKING IN YOUR GIRLFRIENDS BIGGEST PURSE..JUST HAVE FUN AT THE MOVIES, IF YOU DISECT IT AND BREAK IT DOWN AND CRUCIFY BECAUSE DETAILS, THEN YOUR JUST NOT HAVING THE FUN THEY INTENDED YOU TO HAVE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
GUNSMITH - 4/23/2009, 3:37 PM
Gunsmith... please stop shouting, it's hurting my eyes.
mwmcintyre - 4/23/2009, 3:46 PM
yeah Gunsmith does yell a lot. I picture this dude sitting infront of his computer and just yelling a monotone voice all the time - like a loud robot or something. Or maybe that's how Darkseid talks?

BUT ANYWAY. SERIOUSLY THOUGH - DOES ANYONE HERE KNOW HOW MUCH CGI IS MISSING? DOES IT HINDER ANY OF THE ACTION AT ALL? GOD I CAN'T STOP YELLING.
Keven - 4/23/2009, 3:49 PM
hey gunsmith if your job required you to run around naked u would work out too. i know i would, first impressions and all :)

fox intended us to have fun? nooo way they make movies for the money buddy .. tell that tale to some kids that believes in magic bullets

lol im going to go as far as to say if yo support fox and there interpretation on this movie then you sir .. are a terrorist !!!
loganaspatch - 4/23/2009, 3:59 PM
Any one who bails on seeing this movie based on the negative shit plastered all over the Internet shouldn't even call themselves a fan of Wolverine. Don't even call yourself a fan of the character if your going to let other people tell you how the movie was. Go see it and watch it yourself, then you can bitch if you don't like it. It's like half of you are suffering from severe generalized anxiety with hyperactive disorder and bipolar tendency's. It's a helluva a combination, making some of you the human equivalent to dogs chasing cars.
TheMyth - 4/23/2009, 4:03 PM
id so love to be a dog chasing a fox right about now :)
loganaspatch - 4/23/2009, 4:12 PM
well I'm now laughing at those who thought Fox was telling the truth about the 'added' footage. This movie has been doomed (quality wise) since it was leaked that Deadpool would be a super mutant/Baraka Terminator. Wont be seeing this in theaters now (unless proven other wise) and I really am not that surprised that fox would do this.
DennisW22 - 4/23/2009, 4:15 PM
I'm going to see the film with my ex. If it sucks, I'll get a blow job. Pretty win-win for me.

Also, I didn't watch the piece of shit leaked copy. Why would anyone? If the movie is that awesome, you could wait for the real thing. If the movie was that much shit, you could wait for Netflix.
Kain Darkwind - 4/23/2009, 4:15 PM
GUNSMITH: I WILL TYPE IN ALL CAPS SO I KNOW THAT YOU WILL UNDERSTAND ME CLEARLY. YOU'RE WRONG.
IF WE DECIDE TO "DISECT IT AND BREAK IT DOWN" "BECAUSE OF THE DETAILS"... WE ARE NOT BEING ENTERTAINED, THE FILM HAS LOST IT'S ABILITY TO KEEP OUR ATTENTION, AND WE HAVE FOUND OURSELVES LOOKING AROUND THE THEATER FOR OTHERS WHO ARE DISSAPPOINTED AS WELL. I CALL THIS "CRAPMOVIE SYNDROME".
(Sorry dude, I can't type like that anymore. lol)

I love the part about your girlfriend's biggest purse though, that $#it's funny!

In all seriousness, I love the X-Men, Wolverine, and the Marvel universe as a whole. I've collected comics since I was twelve, and I'm now pushing 32. I think we're blessed to live in the time that we are, because we're getting to see MOST of our childhood dreams come to fruition, but... This in no way means that we should just be "happy" that the movies are being made, and that we shouldn't voice our concern, dissappointment, or even our outright disgust with how our childhood dreams are being played out (badly) in film.

Imagine if you will... A Hollywood producer comes to your door and says "Hey kid, I heard you had this great home movie from Christmas of 02' where your family received a visit from Ed McMahon, and he gave you a check for $1,000,000.00 dollars! I want to make a movie about it!" Now fast forward to two years down the road, you're excited to see the film, and you've told everyone about it. You've gathered all of your friends to see it with you at the big premeire. The curtain opens, the light goes down, and... You find yourself watching "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory."
Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE me some Willy Wonka, but it's NOT your story. It doesn't resemble your story at all, and you cannot relate to it in any capacity. You look around the theater at all of your friends and family, and they're doing the same thing ("Crapmovie Syndrome")... Looking around in confusion at what they're seeing, and wondering who the hell to blame for the atrocity!
I like Hugh, I love Wolverine, I plan to see the movie, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that noone should complain about this movie. There's just WAY too much to complain about!
Thanks for listening.
adamant877 - 4/23/2009, 4:16 PM
hahahahahaa, honestly Myth, could not have worded that any better
ThePrince - 4/23/2009, 4:19 PM
Ive watched the leaked and i say its a good movie and im looking forward in may 1st for the finish product because its jus a bad ass movie, some ppl well be mad for what they did with deadpool but i think he well be back and lets put it this way the leaked version was way better den X3. Props to TheMyth for his comments.
xXkryptoniteXx - 4/23/2009, 4:39 PM
Seen it. Goin to see it again..
Dont give a damn weither it's the same or not.
I'm sold...
Minotauro - 4/23/2009, 4:41 PM
@The Myth- I saw it already , twice even. And both times i got up and decided to do other things. I didnt even mind the special effects and lack thereof cuz i was sooooo excited and i have a great imagination , but it was still lame the second time around. not one goddamned costume! not one!!!~ Why would Gambit after escaping a fight or being what he thought was "captured" would he come back and jump right into a fight between two others when he still hasnt even gotten away. Why are Gambits acrobatic instincts sooooo lacking?!?! I am truly sorry for any spoilers, but dont say i didnt tell ya so! It was glaringly apparent that this movie was not going to come off well. We knew it from the out set with the actresses and actors chosen to the script reviews. I am praying for a miracle on May 1st. Why cant we get a comic book movie starring the x men that is just plain gritty and badass with fight scenes at least as good as the ones in Kung Fu Hustle? Pray hard boyo's cuz time is running out. I will be there opening knight with bottle o' booze in purse, but i aint payin thats fer damned sure.
shibazz - 4/23/2009, 4:46 PM
Well im gonna see this Movie, im a true fan of the Marvel Universe, "Despite DareDevil, and Electra." Another reason i would see this is becuase Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds do these because they love being the characters and enjoy doing them. I can almost guarantee Jackman would of done this movie for almost free.

@adamant877 Ill get back at you after i see the movie to see if there is anything to complain about.

Also my Avatar is Zombie Iron Man, if anyone remembers those comics.
Awesomeness - 4/23/2009, 4:48 PM
HOW could they drop the ball on this movie? It would be so easy to make a great wolverine film. Just pick a story, make it, and you are done. That's it. I am not a source material purist. I understand that something is going to change when a film is made of a comic book. The problem is that comics and their stories continue on forever until interest is lost. Movies dont have that liberty.

Everything has to be as tight a package as jamie presley. Including irony, drama, humor, and most of all, some kind of conclusion. If they would just make the story regardless of how neatly its going to end we wouldnt have these disasters.

I watched the leaked version and i'll downld the theatrical release, but thats as far as im going to go. Im sick of getting excited about a film and ending up with sh!t like this. Make something great for once.
Betty - 4/23/2009, 4:57 PM
This movie sucks. And I'm not saying that because it's not close to the source material. I'm saying that because the story is crap and the characters minus Wolverine are weak.
Deathlok - 4/23/2009, 5:23 PM
i am going to see it for sure in theaters. Way to many people are taking this to personal. I have never been happy with the way Fox presented X-men, but i will support my comic book roots and this cast of actors.
HR - 4/23/2009, 5:30 PM
HR-I AGREE, WAY WAY TOO PERSONAL.I HAVE BEEFS TOO BUT WHAT ARE YA GOING TO DO HUH? IF WE WERE DIRECTORS OF WOLVERINE AND WANTED TO MAKE IT WE'D STILL BE TOLD TO CHANGE ALOT OF STUFF, WHY...DUDE ITS FOX..ITS FOX. AND IM NOT SHOUTING, IT'S JUST MY THING. BATMAN HAS ROBIN, FRODO HAS SAM,LEX LUTHOR WILL NEVER GROW HAIR, AND I HAVE CAPS.
GUNSMITH - 4/23/2009, 5:36 PM
your right gunsmith.. theres nothing left for me to do but..

Dance, nothing left for me to do but dance,
Off these bad times I'm going through just dance
Got canned heat in my heals tonight baby.... lol
loganaspatch - 4/23/2009, 5:56 PM
FOX does not care what FANBOY geeks say! Overall people will like the movie.
SHHH - 4/23/2009, 6:06 PM
@gunsmith

and just like how batman had robin, you having caps is gay.
Killian - 4/23/2009, 6:09 PM
@ TheMyth - So [frick]ing true. Sounds like the old days when you hear people say a band sucks cause they came out with one crappy album. If you're a true fan you're either 'in' or 'out'. But you still don't have to buy that crappy album. Same principle for this movie

@ SHHH - You're comment is not so far from the truth.

TheMyth I'm with ya. Amazes me the collective neurosis from some of these people.
SirPrize - 4/23/2009, 6:24 PM
Watchmen was a great comic book movie of our time? It was a box office flop lol...not to mention just a huge dissapointment.
Sortis - 4/23/2009, 7:05 PM
I wouldn't say that the characters in the movie were "criminally underdeveloped". Given the little time that each character appears on screen, Wolverine, Sabretooth, Stryker, Wraith, Gambit, Agent Zero, Blob, Silver Fox and Wade Wilson all come off as incredibly sympathetic and cool. I can imagine people being fans of each of them despite having little individual screen time. It is quite difficult to do that, but it was done-- much better than it was in X3.

Although this movie did have the symptom of the other X-Men movies-- unnnecessarily killing off fan favorite villains. There are two characters Wolverine kills in this movie that would have been better left alive.

But, then, one could say the same about Toad and Sabretooth in the first X-Men movie and Lady Deathstrike in the second and well... everyone knows about the third.
Hobgoblyn - 4/23/2009, 7:45 PM
I'll still go see it in hopes that my $8.50 invetstment will one day give me the X-men movie that i have hoped for for so long. besides i have nothing to look foward to untill summer
KingCold420 - 4/23/2009, 7:57 PM
@ Shibazz & DeathLok

Totally agree with yall. No chracter development what so ever, waste of characters left and right.

THE TRAILERS AND PROMOTIONAL POSTERS ARE COMPLETELY MISLEADING. THEY SHOW ALL THESE CHARACTERS THAT ARE BARELY IN THE MOVIE. THE CERTAIN EVENTS LAST FOR WHAT 5 MINUTES, IF NOT LESS? SABERTOOTH HOPS IN AND OUT THROUGH THE WHOLE DAMN MOVIE. ITS NOT CONSISTENT, AND THE FIGHT SCENES WERE 'MEH'...

ITS RIGHT UP THERE NEXT TO "THE HULK"...OR MAYBE ABOVE THE HULK. AT LEAST THE HULK WAS TRYING TO BUILD CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.

This movie sucked.

Aiiwolf - 4/23/2009, 8:07 PM
@ Betty

Personally, I knew this movie was going to be crap when I heard the name. Xmen Origins: Wolverine? What are we stupid? Fan or no fan...it doesnt matter but you never butcher a title. Let me guess...Magneto is going to be called...Xmen origins: Magneto? lol

I think "Logan" or "Wolverine" would of been just fine. Theres no way "The legend of Bill Batson" is going to successful....Make it short and simple, and promote it right. Fox is the worst at promiting things, they either show to much, or they dont show at all.

IF You watched the Trailer to the Wolverine movie, that pretty much how it is, theres nothing else. Emma frost was in that scene ONLY pretty much, turning into a diamond. Gambit had one other fight scene besides that stupid jump he did in the end. Each character was wasted.

I'm with you on the downloading the theatrical version....I'm not giving any of my money to this movie.

If I took a crap, and put this movie next to it...I wouldnt know which one is better :)
Aiiwolf - 4/23/2009, 8:15 PM
This is BS.. and by the way, watch the damn movie in the freaking theater before you are stupid enough to judge it base on what people say.. YOU HAVE YOUR OWN TASTE IN FREAKING MOVIES! Maybe people don't like it, but you will!

I hated Titanic! I said it was a crappy movie! But guess what! Titanic is a world wide best selling movie regardless how gay and crappy it is!

Not everyone shares the same interest in movies!

Check for yourself!

007440 - 4/23/2009, 8:22 PM
There are a few cronies working for Fox on here ZI bet!. it isnt paranoia, its intuition.
Honestly, if we continue to give money to people who make movies that suck: Daredevil, Elektra, Fantastic four 1&2, X-men 1,2,&3, The 1st Hulk, Wolverine Origins, Ghost Rider, Spawn, BatMan&Robin etc etc etc) , then they will continue to make crappy movies that suck.
I I am willing to give my money to the people who make good movie, who are good filmmakers with visiona nd direction. SpiderMan 2, Iron Man, Hulk 2, BatMan 2 (TDK), Hellboy, Watchmen are all good comic book superhero movies.

In any case, X-Men Origins: WOlverine is a pretty bad stinker of a film. Ive seen the workprint and it is a pretty aweful movie. I had to take a shower afterwards...such a stinker! I completely agree with Aiiwolf. Emma Frost has once scene that lasts 5 seconds which is shown in its entirety in the trailer.

Ive been putting together a little project together. i have been taking all of the cool scenes, actions scenes from all of the Marvel comic books movies and making a cool little video out of them all. I tried to get some scenes from xmen originales wolvy but there really wasnt anything I wantedted. I only took one scene of where he is riding the motor cycle and he slices the HumVs tires. (which is also shown in the traler I bleieve). Stinker...'peee-eww'!
Jojo Risin - 4/23/2009, 8:36 PM
Though I saw the leaked version and wrote down my opinions (which were totally mistaken - but hey it's another story), I definetely will go to see the movie and spend my [frick]in' 10 bucks to it cause I really really want this franchise to continue.
Well, anyway, this writing is here to say that I'm gonna see the film at least 7 hours before you guys (guys live in the US) due to my time zone and hopefully first to say if it is different from the leaked version (God, let it be true) or not (noooo!!!)
sithenor - 4/24/2009, 12:39 AM
I'm with Myth on this.

Two Things I am NOT going to do;

1 - I'm not going to believe anything written about this film until after the release date. It could all be true, but it could also be horse sh*t! Even the leak COULD have been planned.
2 - I'm not going to judge this film until I've seen it. I'm my own person and won't follow the pack. If I like it or hate it it will be MY decision based on what I'VE seen, not based on somebodies knee jerk reaction over a half cut leak.

Like Myth said, if you are a true fan you will give this film the chance it deserves.
Ron - 4/24/2009, 2:09 AM
ahhh poor hugh we was a dam good wolverine long live hugh
and ohh my

darthstern - 4/24/2009, 3:13 AM
You know what! You all F*****g suck! It's people like you who go by listening to punk-bitch reviews. Do you not have your own mind, people???!!!

I'm not going to back the film up even though I'm a f*****g HUGE Wolverine fan. I just know that the film is going to be a great watch and I will deffinately appreciate it.

Screw you ALL!
Twiggy - 4/24/2009, 5:09 AM
Twiggy - I hope that you're not classing me in with those who suck? I said the same as you! Albiet with a little less swearing, but the sentiment is the same!
Ron - 4/24/2009, 5:18 AM
I saw a terrible trailer on TV last night, It was full of cheesy one-liners, making the movie look like a comedy.

TheJester - 4/24/2009, 5:26 AM
You know what? I don't believe it. I know for a fact that the leaked version was missing at least 14 minutes from the final cut. This guy is, quite frankly, wrong.

OPINION
SHHH - 4/24/2009, 7:09 AM
I'm a mad purist, and I'll be upset some when I leave the theater, but I'm gonna sit my fat butt in a comfy, expensive theater chair right next to my dad, with my big friggen Dr. Pepper, Bunch-A-Crunches and popcorn and enjoy the crap out of the experience that is a Comic Book Movie with my favorite characters. Sure the producers had NO IDEA what they were doing, but at least they tried. And that's what counts in my book. Let's enjoy Wolverine in the spirit of Nerdom. Whaddya say, Nerds? Are you with me?
spencemoney13 - 4/24/2009, 7:13 AM
Howlett04 - don't worry my friend! I'm not including the people who think the same as me. I just said 'You all' because the majority of the people on here are lame and suck! But to all the realists out there.... Yes Yes to you all! ^__^

Twiggy out!!!
Twiggy - 4/24/2009, 8:13 AM
No...I am not interested in seeing this franchize continue.

I would muchmuchmuch rather see this franchize 'rebooted'. Thhat is what it needs...forget they made the first four movies and start anew, fresh!

I will not support this team...I will either wait for a reboot by some good filmmakers...or simply wait for FOX's rights on the characters runs out..and Then Marvel will obtain the rights back and make the XMEN like it should have been made and also make WOLVERINE the way it should have been made.

I am a huuuge comic book fan. I am also a hug comic book movie fan. i would rather wait it out and have a goo dmovie than be all impatient and settle for a movie that sucks.

Eitehr FOX needs to start making good movies that do not compromise the integrety of the characters or let the rights run out so MARVEL can make the movie the way it is supposed to be made.

Also...if marvel makes it that means that the XMEN can have cross overs with HULK AND AVENEGRS!

who in their right mind wouldnt want that?
Jojo Risin - 4/24/2009, 8:23 AM
I have to say I am one of these people who (hasn't seen the film) but is very pleased that they are trying to make it fit in with the other X-men films. That would have really angered me!!!
FattSmelliott - 4/24/2009, 8:29 AM
If the final version is the same as the leaked version and the line below is true :

"if this film gets no support Fox could very well shut the vault on any future X movies, meaning we will have to wait till Fox loses all rights to the property"

then id rather not go to the theaters and see em stop making comicbook films! I have lost faith in Fox. They f'd up Xmen 3 by changing Callisto's powers and making up fodder characters of their own for MAgs army. They F'd up Spiderman 3 by making Tobey go emo among other things. Wolverine? its juz too much to take anymore.

If you want characters you love from the book to be handled the way they did, then sorry but you aint a comic book fan.

Emma Frost wants to lick my taint.
TheJester - 4/24/2009, 9:43 AM
i was hoping that what the work print was to mislead us and test us , but after seeing last nights rouind of comercials on tv i know that is not the case. reboot, and for goawds sakes make the characaters look like they do in the comic books!

(mrjojo) you saw a workprint vershion it wasent barley a movie. And how stupid do u sound. So the reason why u hate the work print of the movie is cause the white queen has a 5 second scene. And because of that u hate the whole movie. Do u see how retarded u sound?!?!?!!!! And this is how u all sound like. What r u a fan of white queen? And im a fan of psylocke and in x3 she was barely in it, it was her asain vershion and she dies. Did i hate the whole movie? NO! I think this is wen the enter net suck. That ass wholes like this posts an un finish vershion of a movie so that ass an holes like (MRJOJO) can run his mouth and gives great opinion on what he thinks of a none finshed vershion of a movie. Dude eat shit!!!!!
Logan-X - 4/26/2009, 10:57 PM
Ok... since im one of the haters let me voice out why i hate the damn flick.

I dont... i repeat, DONT hate it because they didnt have costumes. I DONT hate it becoz Sabertooth is the same height as Wolvie. I DONT hate the movie coz it has unfinished special effects which i could care less for. I DONT hate it coz the fight scenes isnt what i wanted em to be. I DONT hate coz Emma didnt have enough airtime which i dont care about coz Lynn was hot! I DONT hate it coz they made Sabes and Wolvie brothers. I DONT hate it coz Blob was there.

What i hate about the movie is the stupid plot, the huge plotholes (which id rather not say to prevent more spoilers) and the misrepresentation of characters in the worst way possible (How? Imagine Gandalf looking like a clean shaven Perez Hilton riding a little pony with a bazooka on his hand). There are also the corny lines and the stupid stunts which i can tolerate.

I juz hope you OPTIMISTIC guys are right and there is indeed 14 minutes worth of missing footage as well as plot changes. If FOX indeed did that and fixed things, i hope they earn a lot with this film and make right with future films. If not, then this movie deserve to tank along with any future f'ups they're plannin.
JamesH - 4/27/2009, 8:46 AM
I watched it at least 3 times. I won't be buying it on DVD nor seeing it at the theatre. I have no idea hwo these characters are. this is not wolverine, this is not sabretooth, this is not deadpool. I have no clue who these jokers are.
It wouldnt be that bad if the movie was a great movie...except for the fact that they molested our fav characters we all know and love. If they still had the molested characters, but still a great movie...I would be happy. I love great movies about as much, if not more so (eh about even honestly) than great comic books..
So if this was a matter of crapy characters but a great film...I wouldnt be bitching at all.
1st lemme say that I studied film at Penn State. I also have studied all throughout my life as an illustrator/artist. Ive always wanted to either make comic books or make movies. Somehow I am doing niether. I am currently a singer in 'The Doors Experience' which is a tribute band to Jim Morrison and The Doors. (eh...it pays the bills).
But Outisde of singing, all of my education pertains to filmmaking and comic book/graphic novels.
So when I saw the Wolverine movie...I was watching it like a filmmaker would watch a movie (or how a musician would listen to a piece of music)
SO I would know a good movie when i see one. But horribley bad movies have done well at the box office before, and also great, really great moveis have bombed at the box office. So weather or not this movie makes money at the box office, as well as weather or not if this movie is good, or not, are two totally seperate issues that are not related.
Now because the movie is so bad, (by an action of 'if, then or else' a personal creed of mine) I will then, therefore, not spend my money to see the movie. But that is just my personal choice. The movie can go on to make a billion dollars, that doenst mean it will be any better of a movie than it already is.
The scenes are already shot. They are enot changing what has already been shot, too costly. As far as it pertains to the starts of the film...the actors whome they have to pay alot more than the others, all of those scenes depicting those actors are already 'finalized'. FOX will not shell out the extra money it will cost to re shoot scenes with the lead actors. They 'might' re shoot some scenes here and there with lesser known actors that they dont have to pay extra. Most of the higher paid actors are already involved inother films...which would cost FOX even more if they wanted to change anything. How studios make money off of films revolves around the time it takes to make, which is already planned way aahead of time. A movie that needs to reshoot scenes, after budget and after deadline is basically a sinking ship. It is only a matter of time that it will cost too much money to make any kind of profit off of it.
So any new ending or new scenes featuring wolverine or any main star-actor is totally out of the question, I would bet a million dollars on that.

If they were smart they would re shoot as many of dead pool's scenes as they can using a 'stand in' or 'stunt double' or something. in full costume wearing his mask. Thatwould be relatively cheap to do since all you need is a guy in a mask. It wont be Ryan Reynnolds if they do this though.

So,I hate to say this, I really do, but what we saw in the workprint, is 'in fact' the final edited footage that was shot. Thats it, there is nothing more. Even if there was, there is not enough time to re edit the film...that would run over budget, then they might miss their deadline and the finished product might not be so finished looking.

But as cinematography goes...the live footage of the workprint is indeed the same live footage that the theatrical final release will have. The only difference will be anythign that was added using CGI or a computer. Which won't be much because those are actually the 'most' costly to make and 'take ten' times longer to create than a live action shot.

The theatrical release will be exactly the same as the workprint except that the cgi will be more polished (what little there is) and the soundtrack and score will also be polished. big deal.

Also i could care less about Emma Frost, that doesnt make a movie good, duh. I was only agree with a previous pst...if you would have aken the time to read the posts before slinging your opinion that FOX's Wolverine is so greta when it sucks so horrible bad. I enjoyed Daredevil more than this, hell I even enjoyed Elektra more than Wolverine. I thought Fantastic Four was superior movie than wolverine...and all of those movies sucked to...It is just that Wolverine 'really' sucks. Cinematography, acting, writing, plot, the whole 9 yards...it is just terrible.

loganaspatch, you've just earned several cool points, but I don't know whether to credit you for a Napoleon Dynamite reference or a Jamiroquai reference. :)
