Frank Marshall Confirms Indy 5 Is A Go

Shia let the cat out of the bag a couple days ago, and now Frank Marshall has pretty much confirmed that Indy 5 has the green light.
No time lines are confirmed but when asked about Indy 5 long time Indy veteran producer states:

"It's really about the script," says Frank. "Once we see that, we'll see. We're not going to wait another 20 years. We'd all love to make another one. I'm anxious to hear the idea!"

Lets just hope Lucas learns his place and only writes the screenplay, then he has to leave the set and let Steven Spielberg do the rest. But wait. What about Mrs Spielberg, and Mr. Ford. Harrison states: "Yeah. We had a great time making the last one and, as Harrison said, we need to make this one soon. We're not getting any younger."

That's for sure Harrison Ford turns 67 later this year. A bit to old to be swinging around on collapsed bridges or gliding down waterfalls on a Airline issue yellow raft.

Frank Marshall goes on to say: "Until there's a script, nothing's definite. I haven't heard the idea."

Lucas told us right after Indiana Jones and the Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull premiered that he had another great idea for Indy 5. Then the rumors started popping up about Shia taking up the famed archeologist's fedora hat himself and becoming the star player. After Shia's drunken tirade and hand injury's Lucas said nope, no way no Shia as Indy, and fans rejoiced. What can we expect to be the famed McGuffin for Indy 5?

Funny that this article was posted today. Last night i was watching the episode of South Park where it show Lucas and Speilberg rapping Indy because the last movie was so horrid. I really think they should call it quits on this series. The last movie i had so much expectations for and it let me down...bloody aliens!!! Gotta be kidding me. All the other Indians had to do with history and the 1st and 3rd with the bible and God. They should have kept that going not Aliens
Raiden - 6/18/2009, 8:14 AM
Hey its cool, i'll watch it, but it'll never be as good as it once was, damn they should've done a INDY after Last Crusade, why wait so long, stupid lol!

Raiden @ Lmao!
LEEE777 - 6/18/2009, 8:24 AM
Boy the Last one was awful. The first and the 3rd are the ones i like the most.
Smolo - 6/18/2009, 8:32 AM
Why are people so pissed about the aliens? Raiders featured Evil demons that could melt your face, Doom a group of Khali worshipers who could rip out your heart and leave you alive, Crusade a cup that can bring you ever lasting life..so why are aliens a stretch? They were always fantasy movies..i just wish they had of left all the cheesy kiddy shit on the cutting room floor, aliens i can handle!
Rorschach01 - 6/18/2009, 8:49 AM
Rors:
You are right on point...I don't know why everyone was so upset. I think too many fans put too much into these movies. It's not based on anything realistic. Look at Lucas...he is a fan boy of his eara and makes movies like it.

I like the last one. Since I was a kid when the first ones came out they were more "Fantastic" but as I (you me) get older all that glitter aint gold. So I think we are not as excited.

Shia = 2 thuumbs down as a replacement, but Indy 5 = I cant wait.
vonstallin - 6/18/2009, 9:04 AM
Its not that the idea of aliens was to far fetched, I just dont think it was the right fit for Indy!
longbowhunter - 6/18/2009, 9:10 AM
they way i see it the odd numbered movies in this series are always better, 1 and 3 were awesome, 2 was eh not my favorite, and 4 just sucks, so maybe 5 will be good, well hopfully
BOOK552 - 6/18/2009, 9:19 AM
I SAY-THE TITLE GAME-----"INDIANA JONES AND THE WIPPER SNAPPER", "INDIANA JONES AND THE GOLDEN SOMETHING", INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE LAND OF THE LOST WITH WILL FERREL....INDIANA JONES AND THE BONEY PRINCESS...INDIANA JONES AND MISSES MISSES JONES MS JONES..THEY GOTTA THING GOING ON..
GUNSMITH - 6/18/2009, 9:19 AM
Doom is far too underated...it's a fun film and still holds a bit of excitement to it.....Crusade was a bit dull for me.
its got to ba called INDIANA JONES and the LAST RETURN TO THE TEMPLE OF THE LOST CRYSTAL MONKEY BRAINS

teabag - 6/18/2009, 9:27 AM
Why not? Lucas already screwed Stars Wars into the ground, it makes sense he'd move on to Indiana Jones.
WeaponX - 6/18/2009, 9:37 AM
X- STAR WARS IS LUCAS'S BITCH, HE WILL DO HER UNTIL SHE'S GOT NOTHING LEFT TO GIVE..ITS THE MONEY DAWG..AN LUCAS HAS ENUFF TO LAST A GREAT DEPRESSION
GUNSMITH - 6/18/2009, 9:40 AM
Raiden- Don't worry, Lucas'll pull out the Raelian Movement in the fifth to link God and Aliens, it will all fall in together nicely LMFAO!!! :P

And also, don't worry about Shia in the 5th, "The Mutt" will settle down with McLovin and have a bunch of capuchins swingin around the nest so Indy'll be on his own.

Like my new avatar LEEE???

Shaman - 6/18/2009, 9:45 AM
SHAMAN @ I cant get used to ya GL AVATAR darn it! : D

Anyways, i think INDY 5 will be better if TRANSFORMER BOY ain't in it lol!
LEEE777 - 6/18/2009, 10:10 AM
The only problem with the movie was that it got the times mix up it was in our time but using 80s cars well that and it had Howard ford in it
Supermike - 6/18/2009, 10:20 AM
Indy films do best when there is a Jewish/Christian artifact involved. I always hoped they would do a story with the Spear of Destiny but that was done in a comic. Any ideas? Muslim maybe?
JYCowboy - 6/18/2009, 10:34 AM
Aliens didn't bother me either. It's Shia. He does NOT look at all like Indy's offspring and I don't like his overacting, seems on cocaine all the time...
Inohaku - 6/18/2009, 10:53 AM
Inohaku- i just thought about it and he really does seem like a coke head haha

INDIANA JONES AND THE SEARCH FOR THE NEXT SCORE
teabag - 6/18/2009, 11:11 AM
let it go, they should have never done the last one, it should have ended with the third one. lets face it, lucas has no idea of how to connect to the people who made him what he is.
ashe4358 - 6/18/2009, 11:39 AM
Not a fan of the last one. But Indy is Indy and i'll see it if they release it. Although honestly it was not the plot that bugged be it was the stupid family mystery crap.
ryanjdrf1992 - 6/18/2009, 11:41 AM
Lucas should do HOWARD THE DUCK 2: FREE-RANGE
teabag - 6/18/2009, 11:44 AM
It's REALLY not only about the aliens.

It was (for me anyway) because the flippin aliens had no real purpose. Crystal Skulls in the REAL world, arent all long headed. They look like normal skulls, only made out of crystal.

Indy movies, if you really look into it, have ALWAYS been about religion. The first one? The Arc of the Covenant. The second one? Some tribal religion. The third one? The holy frickin grail. The fourth one? Flippin aliens! Do you see how they broke the pattern now?

I don't know how to explain it anymore than that...

Oh wait. Shia swinging through the trees? W-T-F
Jib7z - 6/18/2009, 11:59 AM
My kids loved the movie... so I would love another movie that we could see as a family.

Actually, imo, they didnt break the pattern with the fourth from religion. The skulls is part of religion in some way. They are said to have been here before christ. Indy, imho, isnt a religious person. Like Robert Langdon in DC and A&D. They study the origins and backgrounds but do not necessarily believe. To understand religion you have to go back to the beginning, all the way back... to what leads to religion... so imho it does have to do with religion.

Scientists believe that the world is over 4 billion years old. Anthropologists state that Homo Sapiens date back as far as 500,000 years. Although natural quartz crystal has been part of the Earth since before the dawn of time, it is believed to have been used by man only during the last 12,000 to 15,000 years.

GUNSMITH - 6/18/2009, 12:24 PM
"INDIANA JONES ANS THE SEARCH FOR THE GOLDEN PENIS"--LEDGEND TELL OF A GREAT MAYAN KING THAT HAD MANY WOMEN, ONE WAS NAMED LORENA AND HE WRONGED HER SO MUCH THAT ONE NIGHT SHE TOOK A KNIFE AND CUT HIS HOO HOO DADDY OFF, GOT ON A HORSE AND RODE OFF,BEFORE GAURDS COULD CATCH HER SHE THREW IT IN THOSE THINGY YOU KNOW, WHERE THEY MAKE THEIR GOLD JEWELRY YOU KNOW..AND THERE YOU GO LAMINATED WITH GOLD JUNK..THEN HOWARD THE DUCK ATE IT

Shaman - 6/18/2009, 1:30 PM
Indiana Jones is a Character that lives within the WW2 era right before America becomes fully involved in the great war. He uses his bravado, knowledge and skills to accomplish his adventures. I honestly dont want to see the torch being passed on to Indys Son or his Assistant or anything stupid like that.
I would want the franchise to either die with Harrison Ford after Indy 5 or Continue with some unknown gifted actor to dawn the fedora hat and the whip. Thus creating a whole plethora of Indy adventures. And it should be someone who loves the Indy Stories. Not some A hole actor that is gonna try to play indy for Six months.

It would be nice not to fear Hollywood anymore. I remember when Indy 3 came out my entire family went to see it. Not for minute was there ever a shred of doubt about the movie. We had faith in Lucas and Spielberg that they were gonna deliver and they did. They didnt cut corners or use special effects as a handy cap for their short commings. In the 80s and early 90s almost everything about films felt organic. If the effects were impossible and the stunt was way too dangerous then they used old fashioned good script writing and amazing actors to pull it off. They should go back to the roots and only use CGI when it cant be pulled off at all. Very much in the same vein that Christopher Nolan film making style. In TDK the scene where that 40-50ft tractor trailer is flipped that was done in real life no CGI at all. It was so overwhelming. Masterifly executed by Nolan and his team.

I would love it if more film makers would take this approach. Ohh but I forget to be able to do that you really have to know your shit when it comes to film making.

Hellmont - 6/18/2009, 1:40 PM
Nolan.." i know shit about action what do you reckon to just flipping a car??" writers " uuuhh what about a truck , we could flip a truck" Nolan " Cool but no explosions i aint brinin the bayhem here, plus i blew the budget on making Gilenhawl kinda look like a chic".
teabag - 6/18/2009, 1:59 PM
@hellmont

I completely agree with you...

...time or Indy to go back to its roots. All that horrible CGI ruined the movie for me.
Macksimus - 6/18/2009, 2:38 PM
awesome news. cant wait for another one.
grif - 6/18/2009, 2:46 PM
I'm with ror and KeepItReal. I don't know what the big deal is with the aliens. I'm not well versed on all the crystal skulls mythos but if they didn't choose a myth that already exisited they probably just combined a couple to make that community not bicker as much. I think this next movie could be awesome and hope they learn that we don't what that kiddie stuff.
Gweedo - 6/18/2009, 3:22 PM
Hellmont @ You are so right!

Yeah GWEEDO @ The crystal skulls are actually connected to aliens in real life lol! Ok, i watched a documentry, okay i spelt that wrong lol!

I just saw the new INDY for the Wii concole on tv, looks like good fun!

LEEE777 - 6/18/2009, 3:49 PM
It's not the fact that Indy had aliens that got people upset, it's that Lucas and Spielberg tried to switch genres - they went from the 'mystery and magic' theme of the classsic film serials from the 30's and 40's to the 50's B-movie sci-fi...

So does this mean that Indy passes the hat and whip to 'The Beef'? If so, I predict MAJOR suckage! Anyway, isn't Harrison getting up there a bit? What's he gonna' do at the end of this film, ride off into the sunset with his walker?
loganoneil - 6/18/2009, 3:52 PM
Harrison IS getting old. I think they should only do one more movie and go out with a bang. Don't continue the franchise after that. They should either kill him or have him find such a treasure that he just plain retires.
Gweedo - 6/18/2009, 4:10 PM
Kill him, then there would be no possibility of those [frick]s ruining my image of Indy anymore. Let him go out in a blaze of glory. But they'll puss out and give it over to Shia La[frick]hole. god he sucks
FreaK - 6/18/2009, 5:23 PM

"bringin the bayhem"... brilliant.

It must've cost a mint to get Maggie to almost "look like a chic" Talk about lipstick on a pig.
BillyBlack - 6/18/2009, 5:34 PM
How about: Indy finds atlantis ^^! Shia drowns and Sahla gets rick rolled. Now that's a movie. [frick] the aliens!
Spilox - 6/19/2009, 12:39 AM
Teabag- "How to waste a shitload of money... GYLENTHAL!!!" *said in an australian accent*

It does however confirm my theory on Gylenthal... no amount of money can make her attractive. Let's put this one in the same can as Uma "ugly as fart" Thurman. Roughly translated: Lost Causes.
Shaman - 6/19/2009, 9:18 AM
ok dont flame the retard....but whats a Mcguffin?
Fartman - 6/19/2009, 9:21 AM
A MacGuffin (sometimes McGuffin) is "a plot element that catches the viewers' attention or drives the plot of a work of fiction.......ya retard...just kiddin ;)

--------------------------------------------------------

You have to understand that the time period shifted to the 50's. All the cheesecake acting, and alens, and russians, thats all the lore and whatnot from that time. The refriderator and everything is all 50's nostaliga. Thats why the movie worked in my opinon. if you watch it in that frame of mind instead of "I want another Raiders...Doom...or Crusade" you'll never see what a great movie it realy is.
Deadpool - 6/19/2009, 10:50 AM
See now, you just explained what a McGuffin is and i still don't get it. Without an example, i just..i ...i just... i just start crying!!! *eyes filling up with tears*
Shaman - 6/19/2009, 10:50 AM
While not as awesome as the old one's, it's not bad. They're just moving from the pulp stories of the 40's to sci-fi of the 50's people, settle down. It's reflective of the time shift between the old movies and the new one(s). The aliens were perfectly appropriate.

I say less CGI!
And Tarzan is cool as far as tree swinging goes.
Submarijuaner - 6/19/2009, 6:31 PM
The MacGuffin is common in films, especially thrillers. Commonly, though not always, the MacGuffin is the central focus of the film in the first act, and later declines in importance as the struggles and motivations of characters play out. Sometimes the MacGuffin is all but forgotten by the end of the film.
Your eyes are filling up shaman cus im peeking in
