The rumor mill has been spitting out Gremlins 3 rumors since the credits rolled in the second installment.

"I hear they're going to make another one soon," the Gremlins director told Empire Online. "I can see why, it would be stupid to let that title go to waste." Just don't expect a straight sequel. "The actors from the first two are too old to do a proper sequel, so I'm sure when the new one arrives it will be a remake of the original."

I definitely think a remake is a bad idea. No more remakes from Hollywood. They are tasteless and rarely done right. Why not use Billy's son as a starting point and go from there. There, was that really that hard, and they don't even pay me to come up with these fantastic ideas.

Whatever happens, the creator of Gremlins, Chris Columbus won't be on board. "I haven't heard about it," Columbus told Empire. "If they do the monsters with CGI, I don't know if it would be the same. They should go back and do it with puppets again, though at this point I wouldn't be interested in being involved."

I agree puppets with the new motion capture technology they plan on using in the new TMNT would probably be the way to go. Chris Columbus may not want to be a part of Gremlins 3, but I would be willing to bet he sure as hell wants to be kept in the royalty payment loop. Stay tuned for further Gremlin developments..

What I actually wanted to say was that Phoebe Cates would still be great, but leave Zach Galligan out of it. Maybe Corey Feldman could get out of rehab long enough for shooting too. :)

I love Gremlins, I have been trying to get my hands on the dvd of the second movie for years. No reboot is needed they could pull of a third movie without doing that, I like the idea of the kid, maybe the two original people from the first two films could go on vacation leaving the kid alone with Gizmo and shit goes down from there, accidents happen especially when Gizmo is involved.

I named my cat Gizmo...lol

A sequel sould be alot better than a stupid remake. It sould be done with puppets like the past two movies and some of the original cast along a few new stars should be in it.

Gremlins 3? I'll believe once it says it on my ticket and after I get my nuclear flavored butter popcorn & large drink and watch the screen show the main title, then I will believe it.

Sequel definitly. Remakes are good for films that weren't good to begin with. They keep taking great films and doing remakes that aren't anywheres as good as the original. I did like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre though. The original characters would make for some nice cameos just to give the realness of how much time has gone by. Honestly though, this is still a rumor and probably won't even come about anyways like Ghostbusters 3 and a million other cult classic movies that should have had sequels.

Oooooooh I LOVE gremlins, there was a book that came out after the movie, and it tells you that gizmo is realy an alien that crash landed here on earth and he's the last of his kind.
