Let me start off by saying that when I first read the alleged leak of the Thor script, my inner Fanboy jumped with joy. The script is so well written, and seems to follow the trailers and comic-con footage pretty acurately. It makes a lot of sense and seems as though it were written by a professional or something close. I decided to do some reasearch, mostly out of curiosity and i found some interesting info/evidence i want to share with you all.

As shown in this screen-grab of the script every little "script footer" or yellow note seems to have the same exact name on it...

As you can clearly see the name on every one of those footers says Brendon McGrody.

Immediately I went to IMDB to check the names of the THOR script writers. This is what is listed.

Writing credits
(WGA)
Ashley Miller (screenplay) (as Ashley Edward Miller) &
Zack Stentz (screenplay) and
Don Payne (screenplay)

J. Michael Straczynski (story) and
Mark Protosevich (story)

Stan Lee (comic book) &
Larry Lieber (comic book) &
Jack Kirby (comic book)

Naturally I became very suspicious so i decided to google the name "Brandon McGrody".

These are some sites/twitter accounts/other links that I found.

His Writers Account
- Seems to be a site for non-professional writers to get some of their stuff out. His name is there, again.

His Script Buddy Account - A script written by this "Brandon" guy on a site for amateur script writers. Seems awfully similar (style-wise) to the alleged Thor script.

You can also tell he is a HUGE Marvel/Comic fan if you simply check out his Twitter account.

I've found various other accounts that sport the same picture and they really seem like the same person.

As you can see from this somewhat obsessive and down-right creepy investigation by yours truly, I believe that the script was nothing more than a fake.

I've sent an e-mail to this Brandon guy to ask him a few more questions, but for now is it safe to assume that this is NOT an official script?

Again feel free to discuss in the usual place, and if you want more proof just Google his name.

FIST ASS BLOCK!!!!!!
Deadshot - 1/28/2011, 5:54 PM
Fact: If it was fake, Marvel Studios would not have pulled it down within 40 minutes.
NickKaseAKAthePieEATERxGETIT - 1/28/2011, 5:59 PM
@ Trudy ... They threatened, but didn't do anything. They probably just want any kind of "THOR SCRIPT" to be removed, regardless of validity or no.
Xandera - 1/28/2011, 6:02 PM
Normally I would jump at the chance to support a fellow Canadian CBMer...
but it was taken down at request of Paramount CaNick...
and Gaston had some phone calls and emails from them after he spread it around...
so I'm sayin it's real...
Dynamo - 1/28/2011, 6:04 PM
@CaNick that is a possiblity
But it could also be true that this person managed to get a hold of a copy of the script, and is likely the person that posted it on CBM in the first place. In which case you've just exposed him to paramount. They might take legal action against the guy, bro. Good detective work btw, but do you really want to be the guy that sounds his horn. Just saying.
NickKaseAKAthePieEATERxGETIT - 1/28/2011, 6:07 PM
I dont know guys, it seems like a real fishy situation. An amateur "script" and book writer's name is all over an "alleged" script. Why would the changes on the script be from a few days ago... but the script says march of last year... it just doesn't add up
Hiraga08 - 1/28/2011, 6:08 PM
@Grif Get some damn taste man. The script was perfect.

The script matched with all of the other plot descriptions and details we've heard since the beginning. That, added on to everything about Paramount taking it down, I'm pretty sure it's real.
Trust me, a fan script would have been so much worse. This was awesome.
SHHH - 1/28/2011, 6:11 PM
They Emailed Gaston over it.. Paramount means business....
They Contacted CBM.. Were there is smoke there is Fire....
NickKaseAKAthePieEATERxGETIT - 1/28/2011, 6:11 PM
guys ... look at the Thor "script" then look at his OWN script on his Script Buddy link i provided ... they are the exact same [frick]ing style! its not that hard to read a few links
Dynamo - 1/28/2011, 6:11 PM
@CaNick
You know script writers have various connections. Particular in the age of emails and Final Draft sharing sessions. It's very possible he got his hands on it, made a note, sent it to someone and it got leaked.
Dynamo - 1/28/2011, 6:13 PM
@CaNick
Well the link you provided just reads like a film script should read like. That being said, I'm not denying that it is a fake. If it is; it's a very damn good one.
NickKaseAKAthePieEATERxGETIT - 1/28/2011, 6:17 PM
Guess we'll just have to see when the movie opens up... :)
Comedian03 - 1/28/2011, 6:20 PM
This is one of those situations where those who want it to be real, say it's real, and those who set their minds on it being fake and start over-analyzing everything think it's fake.

I read it, and to me it seems 100% genuine.
Like Dynamo said, the link you provided just seems to read like the general format for a film script.
NickKaseAKAthePieEATERxGETIT - 1/28/2011, 6:25 PM
@ Trudy ... his other script was written in '07... that's 4 years ago... im sure anyone can get good at something they enjoy in 4 years ... i wish as well that it's real ... im not knocking it, and if the movie ends up like the script it would be crazy and awesome .. but still a part of me has a hard time believing... i've read it like 4 times now lol
loum410 - 1/28/2011, 6:35 PM
I don't think paramount would freak out to pull a fake script off the web
NickKaseAKAthePieEATERxGETIT - 1/28/2011, 6:35 PM
lol @ gangsta ... true true
marvel72 - 1/28/2011, 6:59 PM
@ canick

i think mate it was the real deal,it just seemed like perfection to me.

i read the deadpool script & that was done in the same style & look very professional,the way it was pulled down so quick as well,gaston getting shit from paramount,i believe it is real.

we'll find out on the 29th april 2011 (uk release date)
Dynamo - 1/28/2011, 7:15 PM
@Gaston
I hope everything's okay on your end. I hope you ain't in too much trouble.
manymade1 - 1/28/2011, 7:25 PM
So glad I didn't read it. I'd only spoil small movies. I would never spoil such a big movie as Thor.
Dynamo - 1/28/2011, 7:33 PM
@Gaston
I'm glad to hear that. Hmmm. How long do you think it'll be before we get the Captain America script? ;)
dahamma - 1/28/2011, 7:40 PM
i dont even have to read the script just hearing many of u guys say its awesome is good enough for me!
the1egend1ives - 1/28/2011, 8:52 PM
@CaNick

A Spanish actress just recently spoke out about her role in Thor, a role that was previously unknown to everyone in the audience. However, we can make a good guess as to what character she plays because in the script there is a character that has two scenes (like the actress said she had) and that character is also Spanish. (like she is.) That could just be a coincidence, but with all the overwhelming evidence that this IS the real deal, that little detail should be more than enough to convince you.
the1egend1ives - 1/28/2011, 9:19 PM
You've done some good detective work and it's certainly worth thinking about. However, the evidence for the script being real is simply too great to be dismissed by this. You've even mentioned that the script is dated March of last year. It would be impossible for him to have written a fan script and then it be 100% on the spot with how the movie actually turns out.
fangz - 1/29/2011, 1:04 AM
i read somewhere that Thor speaks in an older dialect of English. is this true? i'm not implying that would discount it's credibility. they might have changed this after some readings with the actors, decided it didn't work in the film. anyways, anyone trying to fake a script this well (at least from the reports i've been reading on this site) would know to get this point right, so it actually makes it more believable to me.

but does Thor talk this way thru the whole script? i was unhappy to hear at first that he would talk normal, and then to see the trailer when he first wakes up on earth...but then i started to realize he'd probably say exactly the same type of things i expect out of Thor, just leave out the flowery stuff... "thy"s,"thou"s ", eth"s etc.

i don't wanna read the script, but could someone give me an idea of the general tone of his speech?
JoshJones - 1/29/2011, 1:16 AM
Is this a joke? The script is obviously genuine. Why else would paramount bother suing the sh!t out of the website hosting the file? They've let the old script from 2007 float around on the Internet forever without a care in the world. I'd assume it's because they knew they had no intent on using it.

For the record, I found the writing to be rather disinterestedly written. Not saying it's bad, but it's nothing super special either. Depending on Branaugh's work on it, it'll be incredibly awesome or incredibly mediocre at worst.

Love, poop.
JoshJones - 1/29/2011, 1:19 AM
Also, I so wish Marvel could use that Deadpool script. Sh!t is AWESOME.
JoshJones - 1/29/2011, 1:23 AM
Ohhh, and....
@Gaston That is NOT Shakespearean dialogue in the script. It's very proper English, but not poetic in the least. Naturally, one would read the script hearing some sort of UK accent in their head, but a fancy accent does not Shakespeare make.
Exiles - 1/29/2011, 3:41 AM
could some one send me the script here's my email shakiliho@hotmail.co.uk
marvelfangirl - 1/29/2011, 4:29 AM
It's definitely real. It's far too well written and professional to be fake. Major props to the writer! I'm so looking forward to this film!
fangz - 1/29/2011, 5:46 AM
@Gaston thanks, i hope it's in the film too. the way Thor talks and imagining what's going on in that crazy little head of his is a huge part of his appeal to a lot of people. i love when he first hauls onto the scene of some evildoing and says "what manner of sorcery is this?" or "what manner of beast be thou?" he's from an alien race that has crafted relics to cross dimensions but he still demands monsters to explain themselves. that makes your heart go out to him. because i always get the feeling too that he's actually waiting for an answer. and when the beast doesn't answer, he sighs a little inwardly and resigns himself to trading blows with it. (i understood exactly what u meant by Shakespearean too, and it answered my question.)

@shocker totally agreee, just cuz they asked to take it down doesn't mean one or the other. especially if the posted script was actually better and getting people more excited about the movie than the one they just filmed.

haha. i don't actually believe this is the case, but a lot of things pointed out here as evidence, really don't mean nothing. the stuff that sways me to believe it's real is the reactions of people who have read a lot of real scripts, good and bad and a lot of fan fic and hoax scripts, good and bad. and if they have an ear for this stuff and read enough of it, i'm gonna put a lot of value in it when they say that's it's too good to be fake. there's a real qualitative measurement i think between poor worksmanship and skilled worksmanship, even aside from content/originality or coherence of theme or whatever else truly gives a work meaning. that general consensus of quality among many of these people is what's influencing me.
if i had to bet right now, i think it's probably an old draft that's might have gone thru pretty major revisions by the time it got shot.
fangz - 1/29/2011, 5:56 AM
@gaston (or anyone who's read it) this is the one detail i'll ask about it. but in the script, when he lands on earth, and natalie portman shakes him awake, does the dialog match what we see in the trailer "oh no..this is earth, isn't it?"
(i know this doesn't necessarily mean nothing if it's not. or also, even if it is. that line's always puzzled me tho, and just wondering right now)
PaulRom - 1/29/2011, 6:01 AM
I started reading the script today, and so far it's very well written. @fangz I didn't see that, but I'm pretty sure the script itself is not a fake. May 6th will make the final decision.
Tymminator - 1/29/2011, 6:51 AM
Well, I came in when everything was pulled and basically read comments from those who read it, most part, they said it was good.

"Leaked" movie scripts, fake and otherwise getting leaked is not really a new thing. However, I have ONLY seen scripts pulled from hosting sites when they were in fact legit, (whether it be a earlier draft or whatever).

I NEVER saw anyone go through the energy to have a site pull a fake script. The most I've seen in that situation is when confronted with a fake script, they say straight up "thats a fake fanboy script", more or less.

Seriously, the fact they did not do that, and the reaction that followed, makes me think whatever was here, was very, very real (and apparently very very good, as most liked it)

We will find out soon enough. When the movie comes out, those folks out there who have read the script can say how close it was.
the1egend1ives - 1/29/2011, 7:57 AM
@fangz

MINOR SPOILERS!!

It turns out that the scene from the trailer where he comes down to earth is actually part of two totally separate scenes in the movie. The part where he goes "Oh no this is earth isn't it?" is part of a different scene that takes place after he initially arrives. He wears different sets of clothing during those two scenes. And in the trailer, you can ever so faintly confirm that to be true.

In this scene he is wearing a long-sleeved tealish shirt with a pair of jeans.

And in this scene he is wearing nursing scrubs.

Tymminator - 1/29/2011, 8:27 AM
Actually now that you bring it up and that you posted these pics...the 1st one looks like he's out in the desert, but the 2nd looks like he's lying on the street/asphalt.
the1egend1ives - 1/29/2011, 9:07 AM
Even more proof that this script is 100% genuine.

fangz - 1/29/2011, 9:21 AM
@indoraptor12 - wow. thanks for explaining that. that really was bugging me, that those would be Thor's first words upon waking here, and spoken like that. it makes so much sense now, but it never crossed my mind.
knowing that now pretty much removes the one thing i've seen or heard about this that had me worried. i'm dying for this to come out.
NickKaseAKAthePieEATERxGETIT - 1/29/2011, 10:12 AM
Damn indoraptor... Nice points!
Imtooldforthis - 1/29/2011, 3:34 PM
For anyone who is feeling generous, jlewisnewyork@live.com, it'll be greatly appreciated.
Gmoney84 - 1/30/2011, 8:35 AM
I also think this script is real. It may not be the final draft but it's at least and earlier one.
