Michael Rooker may have been the only principal Guardians of the Galaxy actor to be captured in set photos and in costume back while filming was underway, but he's now one the few we've yet to get an official look with the the upcoming Marvel adaptation just a month away. Promising we'll see "more of him soon," director James Gunn has shared a new Facebook "pic of the day" featuring a silhouette of his close friend and frequent collaborator as the mysterious blue-hued Yondu Udonta. Check out the post below and expect a new one from James Gunn everyday leading up to August 1.

UPDATE: In the comments section of the Facebook post (below), fans asked James Gunn for the umpteenth time why Yondu doesn't have the big red fin in Guardians of the Galaxy that he has in Marvel Comics. "Rooker is my friend, but he is clumsy and I don't want him knocking his head off walking through doorways," the director quipped . "I'm in a surreal situation where the biggest disappointment expressed by some fans over the comics-to-movie translation is that Michael Rooker doesn't have a flamboyant and flowing three foot red fin atop his head." Gunn then added, "He does have a fin and it is very awesome it's just very short. I could have done a lot of things but I helped to design the way he looks because I like it better and believe it."

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film opens August 1, 2014.

James Gunn is a bully if he's teasing Yondu.

Pasto - 6/30/2014, 9:37 AM

Pasto - 6/30/2014, 9:38 AM
We need a blue man as president. Defeat the prejudice.
EzioKenway1225 - 6/30/2014, 9:39 AM
im really interested how yondu is characterized..i know Gunn thinks of the comics as seeds from which he can make something truly unique and special..Yondu is suppose to be Star Lords mentor in the film and the leader of a group of thieves and smugglers called The ravagers...i think Rooker is gonna be great as Yondu
Doopie - 6/30/2014, 9:39 AM
I thought studios were better than this...put a blue guy in a movie just to kill him off straight away.
Pasto - 6/30/2014, 9:40 AM
It's sickening. I wish we were past this in our day. Everyone should be treated equally.

How dare you Mr. Gunn....how dare you...

EzioKenway1225 - 6/30/2014, 10:01 AM
hmmm..yondu was not in the original script and i knew that he had written that character specifically for Rooker..interesting...my theory still is that Yondu and his group were sent to smuggle star lord to spartax on the orders of his father but Yondu ,for some reason, decided against it
McNyagano - 6/30/2014, 10:02 AM
ROFL @Batz xD

@mcny

Yondu was an original, and he's in it. I was thinking more on the lines of Martinex, or Captain Charlie-27
EzioKenway1225 - 6/30/2014, 10:07 AM
skeeman-yeah i dont think yondu is an original guardian in this..i think he is just suppose to be star lords mentor in the film
