Some of the first press screenings of Guardians of the Galaxy were held tonight, and Disney has yet again allowed the lucky viewers to share their initial reactions via social media. Is the James Gunn-directed film and Marvel's first full-blown space epic a dud? Based on the following Twitter impressions (so far), Guardians of the Galaxy could be another success story for the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe. While full reviews are embargoed, check out many reactions below!

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film opens August 1, 2014

TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 7/18/2014, 9:47 PM
17 minute preview was solid but for some reason I found the first clip released yesterday was cringe-worthy... We shall see.
ALegendaryPanda - 7/18/2014, 9:51 PM

ALmazing - 7/18/2014, 9:51 PM

RickabooRacker - 7/18/2014, 9:54 PM
I hate when people just WANT a movie to fail, move to the woods and write a book about 18th century French literature and stop bothering everybody...
staypuffed - 7/18/2014, 9:57 PM

What a bunch of a-holes.
ThePowerCosmic - 7/18/2014, 9:59 PM

RebelVulcan - 7/18/2014, 10:08 PM
@DIAMONDZ- DOFP was incredible, and I think that Green Lantern wasn't as bad as everybody says it is.
batz11 - 7/18/2014, 10:08 PM
The douchery here amazes...
LordMushu - 7/18/2014, 10:08 PM
I can't wait!! Hopefully we start hearing more and more details.
Barchiel - 7/18/2014, 10:09 PM
DOFP was mediocre; better than Green Lantern, though.
ATrueHero1987 - 7/18/2014, 10:09 PM
That's great to hear!
Darktower - 7/18/2014, 10:10 PM

ImInteresting - 7/18/2014, 10:10 PM
Can't wait
dethpillow - 7/18/2014, 10:12 PM
oh man, James Gunn is gonna be so happy if this movie is a success.

watching him talk about it in interviews for the last year or whatever, he's a real strange guy, but his hearts gonna explode, i think, if this movie exceeds expectations about it.
Ramiel - 7/18/2014, 10:12 PM
Nate Best said that this movie was amazing.
Mrcool210 - 7/18/2014, 10:12 PM
We'll see, we'll see, my expectations are still really low.
TheRationalOne - 7/18/2014, 10:13 PM
Relentless is an idiot. And so is Diamondz. Pretty sure Green Lantern had bad reviews from the get go. And DOFP kicked all kinds if ass.

Also, DCMF, Cap came out after Thor. And technically, Avengers wasn't a sequel either. Might be splitting hairs, but that just wasn't an accurate statement.

And, um, I'm excited for this movie.
nickman - 7/18/2014, 10:17 PM
Mid credits scene????
DCMarvelFreshman - 7/18/2014, 10:18 PM
@TheRationalOne For some reason, I keep forgetting that Cap came out last before Avengers.
ALegendaryPanda - 7/18/2014, 10:19 PM
This has been such a [frick]ing great summer for movies!
JamesMan - 7/18/2014, 10:21 PM
You mean to tell me that a superhero film is getting positive early reviews?

Marc65 - 7/18/2014, 10:25 PM
Theser are only the most positive tweets though; I'm not saying that it's not gonna be great but let's keep expectations reasonable.
Chubster654 - 7/18/2014, 10:27 PM
I have a big feeling rocket is gonna be the highlight of this movie.
AlexanderLykins - 7/18/2014, 10:27 PM
@DCMarvelFreshman
When you seeing it? Midnight premiere?
ImInteresting - 7/18/2014, 10:27 PM
Haters gonna hate
Sipprelle - 7/18/2014, 10:28 PM
I agree w/ @Marc65. I think it's gonna be good but let's keep our expectations managed.
Sipprelle - 7/18/2014, 10:31 PM
@DosEquis211 Who? Just because someone says they don't have good expectations doesn't mean they're a hater, it just means they're not pumped.
JFerguson - 7/18/2014, 10:31 PM
"...It's better than Thor 2 and Iron Man 2?" -_-
JamesMan - 7/18/2014, 10:31 PM
This negative Nancy is paying to see this in IMAX3D at a Thursday midnight premiere because he's excited to see the movie. I'm just laughing that we keep having these types of articles and they're always the same kind of reactions using the same people.
NateBest - 7/18/2014, 10:32 PM
FYI - that was me posting to the CBM Facebook page and YES, the movie was great. There's seriously something in it for everyone, young and old, but especially if you grew up in the 80s. Best soundtrack ever??? They got it right with "Awesome Mix 1."
thalidomide - 7/18/2014, 10:33 PM
July 31st here I come!!!!
Marvel1997 - 7/18/2014, 10:34 PM
DOFP was mediocre? LMFAO even tho everyone is still entitled to their own opinions but some people man....
AlexanderLykins - 7/18/2014, 10:35 PM
@NateBest
Was Thanos cool? Do we get a full on look at him? I understand if you can't share.
Marvel1997 - 7/18/2014, 10:37 PM
@NateBest- I know you can't answer much but is the 3rd act Almost Avengers level?
