Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film opens August 1, 2014

HAILHYDRA - 7/22/2014, 2:32 PM
Not quite what I expected. But it's good.
McNyagano - 7/22/2014, 2:32 PM

Marvel1997 - 7/22/2014, 2:35 PM
I can't see anything is the soundtrack just made up of 70's/80's songs? Or is there an actual "Guardians" Score?
Bekss - 7/22/2014, 2:35 PM
Vin Diesel is voicing Groot in 6 languages: Chinese, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian.
EzioKenway1225 - 7/22/2014, 2:39 PM
its good.. the score during the prison escape preview was great..it felt like an old school score akin to Star Wars and Indiana Jones
EzioKenway1225 - 7/22/2014, 2:39 PM
Marvel-its just one piece of music from what seems to be the final battle of the film..its good..its the score
Pasto - 7/22/2014, 2:40 PM
Every superhero needs his theme music
No one man should have all that power...

Mrcool210 - 7/22/2014, 2:42 PM
not bad, but nothing im going to remember either, just like most Marvel Studios Scores.
EzioKenway1225 - 7/22/2014, 2:43 PM
i have a feeling this will work much better with the film itself
MrMartinMarvel - 7/22/2014, 2:53 PM
It started out kinda generic, but then at the halfway point it became pretty cool! I'm excited to hear what the rest of the score sounds like.
RobertLiefeld - 7/22/2014, 2:59 PM
The only thing that could make this movie better would be they made Rocket Raccoon a squirrel and Star-Lord was replaced by Sam Alexander.
Celotom - 7/22/2014, 3:05 PM
I like it.
Celotom - 7/22/2014, 3:07 PM
But I am a little disappointed ;/ Just a little.
TheAbaryMan369 - 7/22/2014, 3:08 PM
Not bad at all. Nothing too iconic, but I never expected something too spectacular.
rockerdude22 - 7/22/2014, 3:11 PM
Pretty cool score. Gonna have to hear the whole thing before I pass judgement, though.
EzioKenway1225 - 7/22/2014, 3:13 PM
i do wish each guardian has their own theme..i think that would be cool
DrunkenNukem - 7/22/2014, 3:15 PM
this is his best work
DrunkenNukem - 7/22/2014, 3:20 PM
Arrowhead77 - 7/22/2014, 3:26 PM
I had hoped it would sound more like the Mass Effect soundtrack.
soforizo - 7/22/2014, 3:33 PM
It had some decent to good parts. Likely wasted in a movie like this though.
NovaCorpsFan - 7/22/2014, 3:34 PM
@soforizo
A movie like this? The score was designed to suit the film. All scores are.
soforizo - 7/22/2014, 3:44 PM
@NovaCorpsFan

Only tiny parts of it do. It was design to fit the movie, it doesn't mean it does.
Oilira - 7/22/2014, 3:50 PM
@Bekss I bet he said "Eu sou Groot" in Portuguese.
EzioKenway1225 - 7/22/2014, 3:53 PM
soforizo-the whole movie has this old school kinda 50s-60s pulp scifi vibe and this big bombastic score fits it but to each his own
pro346 - 7/22/2014, 3:53 PM
Space operas need amazing passionate scores....this isn't it! Another bland mcu score as a space opera its already not looking good. John Williams will sleep well tonight
PietroMaximoff - 7/22/2014, 3:55 PM
"Climatic..."
I think you mean "climactic" unless you're referencing the weather in the movie.
EzioKenway1225 - 7/22/2014, 4:00 PM
while i think so far, its good,i think it will fit much better with the movie when we see itbut i wish it was also a bit less..ordinary sounding
NovaCorpsFan - 7/22/2014, 4:31 PM
@soforizo
... It kind of does. They made bits of the score in pre-production, the rest afterwards, like all movies do. Why? So they can get the music to reflect what's going on in the movie. In the case of themes, they can be done beforehand because they embody a character, not a moment.
AlexanderLykins - 7/22/2014, 5:26 PM
Where is Alan Silvestri? Bring that guy back now. The main Avengers theme was awesome!
soforizo - 7/22/2014, 5:27 PM
@Ezio & Nova

Lets put it this way I felt that most of this score would've fitted better with First Avengerbattle scene or even a Thor movie than GOTG. I think "Hooked on Feeling" embraced the movie better than this score... it just seems like an odd shift to me considering the more playful tone that most of its footage has. This is not to be interpreted that the score itself is bad, because it's not (it's actually pretty good), but it is not what I was expecting given everything I've seen so far.
TheAstoundingMan - 7/22/2014, 6:06 PM
Sounds a bit samey to Thor:TDW, though that isn't entirely a bad thing.

If any of these films deserves an iconic theme, it is the Avengers.
LexHairFight - 7/22/2014, 8:31 PM
I think it's great. Soundtracks are made to go with movies though, its hard to get a sense of it without the moving pictures. I like that it's a more classical score to contrast and act in juxtaposition to the other themes. The thing that makes this movie so interesting are it's contrasts - the music now being another one.
NovaCorpsFan - 7/23/2014, 1:42 AM
@soforizo
Okay, that's sound enough (pardon the pun), but you can't really make final judgements on the score till you've seen the movie and heard the score over the scenes the score was designed to reflect. I'll admit, I would've preferred something a bit more space-y.
NoAssemblyReqd - 7/23/2014, 4:02 AM
I dig it. Can definitely hear the THOR:TDW influence. One thing I've noticed about Marvel's movies and action movie scores in general, though: the climactic battle scene music is rarely the best or most representative part of the score. The now notable exception that comes to mind is PIRATES 3: AT WORLD'S END and maybe John Williams' score for STAR WARS and INDIANA JONES.
blvdnoise - 7/23/2014, 4:15 AM
I can dig it..
blvdnoise - 7/23/2014, 4:18 AM
Well, the first part was really good..
