Iron Man 2 Trailer with Sherlock Holmes?

A user at FilmSchoolRejects has made a great theory on when we may get a trailer for Iron Man 2.
Neil Miller, from FilmSchoolRejects, has posted a logical theory on when we'll get a trailer for the most anticipated film of 2010, Iron Man 2.

"By Neil Miller:
This is a vague assumption, but one that could very well turn out to be right in the end — you watch. Director Jon Favreau has been all over Twitter (@Jon_Favreau) talking about Iron Man 2 and taking questions from fans. And like any good director/marketeer, he’s been vague about all the right kinds of things, keeping fans interested by dropping little hints and tidbits along the way. And today he delivered a hint of sorts by retweeting a question about an Iron Man 2 trailer. See below:

RT @Ann_Howard: @Jon_Favreau PLEASE tell us the trailer is coming soon – w/Sherlock Holmes, perhaps??

I’m not saying this is blatant or in any way direct, but lets think about why Mr. Favreau would retweet such a statement. Perhaps the Iron Man 2 trailer will be in front of Sherlock Holmes when it hits theaters on December 25th. It sure does make sense. Robert Downey Jr. stars in both films and Holmes is one of the last big action movies (save for Avatar) of the year. So it would make sense that Favreau and Paramount would be putting a trailer in front of a Warner Bros. movie. As well, Holmes will likely do well at the box office on opening weekend — with a lot of eyes seeing the trailers in front of it. My best guess is that an Iron Man 2 trailer is due soon — and its likely that if it isn’t in front of Holmes, it will certainly be in front of a December movie such as Avatar or fellow Paramount release The Lovely Bones.

At time of print, a representative from Paramount could not be reached for comment. We will let you know if we can get any additional information as the story develops. Iron Man 2 is in theaters May 7, 2010. Thanks to reader @jamesbuckingham for the heads up.

I plan on seeing Sherlock Holmes in the theater, so I hope an IM2 trailer plays in front of it. I'm dying to see some action shots from this movie after all of the sweet pics I've seen.

could be. although wb and paramount are different studios, but they could both benefit from the trailer.

That sounds like it could happen, they might use it to get more people to see Sherlock and see what else the comeback kid has to offer these days.

ASSASSIN666 - 11/19/2009, 10:18 AM

Bijous - 11/19/2009, 10:22 AM
Does make sense. I'm going to see Sherlock Homes anyway, an IM2 trailer would certainly be a nice bonus.

@LEEE
I originally wasn't sold on RDJ as Tony Stark until I saw the movie. THEN I was sold big-time. Give Sherlock a chance.

Yeah, how could they pass up that marketing opportunity. If they have enough footage to show at Comic-Con, so they should be able to put out at least a teaser trailer.

I have been waffling about Holmes for months, but this seals it. I am definitely seeing it.
Got my fingers crossed for that trailer!!!

Yes, I am that much of a fan-atic, that I would see Holmes just to see the IM2 trailer.

WATCHING HOLMES IS A GIVEN..YOU KNOW THE REBOOT WORD IS OUT I THINK ITS MORE RE-THINK...DARKNIGHT WAS A RETHINK, HOLMES IS A RETHINK, I THINK PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SO SET IN THE ROUTINE OF THINGS AND WHEN THEY SEE SOMETHING DIFFERENT THEY EITHER HATE IT OR ARE CURIOUS, I LIKE WHAT THEY ARE CONCIEVING HERE...BOND..I KNOW HE'S MORE BRUTAL AND LESS TECHY THAN PAST BONDS...I MISS THE OLD BONDS,,EHH MAYBE IT WAS THE GADJETS AND THE SEXY FEMALES..

i doubt very seriously we'll have to go see holmes to find out the trailer is playing before it. they'll announce something before holmes comes out. and if not, the first showing of holmes will have people reporting what trailers they saw
CorndogBurglar - 11/19/2009, 11:41 AM
why would WB advertise for marvel?

verbicide - 11/19/2009, 11:59 AM

grif - 11/19/2009, 2:13 PM

RorMachine - 11/19/2009, 6:24 PM
@ verbicide

every time you go see a movie with trailers made by different companies you're seeing the same thing.
CorndogBurglar - 11/19/2009, 6:39 PM
Im taking my girl to see that movie any ways, so more good news for me XD
luffycapri - 11/19/2009, 10:57 PM
It does make perfect sense for an Iron Man 2 trailer to show before Sherlock Holmes, given Downey's roles in both. Don't know if I'm going to see Sherlock Holmes, so I may just wait for the inevitable YouTube posting of the trailer.
